There is a scenario where the wind blows in RoI and not Great Britain and the reverse.

At times of excess ( at night) the turbine arre switched off.

More flexible cross border cables makes electricity and very valuable and flexible asset

Surely everybody knows that the weather isn't exactly the same everywhere all at the same time?

The problem for me is the security of these kinds of cables. We know the Russians like to interfere in such things.

The people who hate wind power argue that the wind does not always blow and the supply is irregular. (Everyone knows this as well presumably. I am not a teacher).

UK and RoI receive frontal weather from the east Atlantic from the south. These front hit RoI in advance of UK in general providing perhaps a hour or two wind energy if UK is short of turbine energy filing in somebody the blank time zones. The reverse is also true as the front passes.

Wind only produced 10% of UK electricity on Thursday but was back up to 46% on Good Friday.

The cable is a good idea. Russia has only cut one or two cables in the Baltic as far as I know.

We have about 11 National Grid interconnector cables running to Europe then you have the cables running from each offshore wind farm , if I was Ivan regarding wind farms I'd target the off shore substations rather than the cables and as you say pipe lines have been targeted in the past and these I assume must have been selected in advance .

They would be going for high value cables such as internet and communication cables not energy cables.

The energy usage in UK is flexible with multiple sources. It means that we do not suffered from power cuts. To do this you need excess capacity. People then complain about firms being paid not to produce electricity.

Just a simple question but what powers routers etc in fact everything which enables the country to run .

Russia interfere in things like that? Wasn't it the Yanks that blew up Nord2 pipeline?

UK is intrinsically flexible and energy lost in one place is supported be nuclear solar and gas. The routers would be unaffected until they are fixed.
