Lead singer of anarcho-punks Conflict. A band that were highly formative in my youth. Probably didn't help me improve my life choices any, but I loved that time. The gigs were real occasions, the banks of tv screens playing footage in the intro, the huge anarchist banners, the energy, passion, the anger. The feeling we could change the world. Police attacking the gigs, venues not booking them for a while, so word of mouth gigs where you one of the few, us against the world. Strength in togetherness. Went to one of their gigs in Manchester with another Rangers fan, got their early, the drummer Paco came up. 'How did we get on today?'. Turns out I wasn't the only R in New Cross! That gig, a few bully boys came and were swatting the vegan anarcho punks, then they got it wrong. I like to think some crusty punks somewhere in Manchester have a high opinion of QPR fans! We were certainly popular on the night! Oh, for my youth. See you on the otherside, Colin. | |
