This is a mistake. It's fair money for Tall Paul in the last year of his contract so I can see why they're doing it, but it's still a mistake. Will Still should have been given the chance to look at his strikers pre-season and decide for himself.
Yes, we still have the 4 other strikers mentioned, but only Ross Stewart is a true centre forward. He can't be expected to play all game, every game and may well spend part pf the season injured. That leaves us with zero centre forwards.
Will Still likes to use crosses as a tactic. It has been important to how he has succeeded. Good luck trying to get Adam Armstrong and the others on the end of crosses! Unless we now go out and buy at least one true centre forward, we will have taken out the managers plan A before we even begin. I think when WS sees them in training he will be shocked at the lack of physicality in the squad. |  |
