This is the 49th season since my first visit to LR. In the first game I ever saw, the Rs beat Stoke with goals from Givens and Bowles. Maybe it was the emotion built up from seeing our greatest ever team on the pitch at half time yesterday, but just after we went in front, I turned to me son and said "I just love this old place." When the team is playing well and the crowd gets behind it, there is something special about this stadium. The noise just flows out onto the pitch and we become the twelfth man in a way that is so immediate and present. You just know the players can feel it. Despite the lack of legroom and the 'dated' facilities, I just have no real desire for us ever to move anywhere else. It would be so hard to replicate what is so great. Just love it! Here end the ramblings of an aging dinosaur : ) | |
