Do you think we may have a problem here? Of course the current squad were largely not selected by Hill. But all the talk here implies that many of the current squad will be moving on in the summer (relegation or not) and they know it. Hill seems to be implying that they're over-rated (or did I misread that?) so won't there now be something lacking in motivation -
"My manager didn't choose me / wouldn't have chosen me but I'll be leaving in the summer whether or not my team is relegated."

I suspect the reason being that in the six games or so Keith Hill has been here he will have not been impressed with the performances (including a few starts) and application of Grimes. Why would he play him because he scored goals earlier in the season? Hill didn't witness those games. Hill can only make a judgement on what he experiences and I trust his judgement completely.
I don't do this blindly. I do it because he managed the team over four and half very successful seasons. In a recent interview David Flitcroft stated that Keith Hill was a fantastic recruiter of players revealing that Hill was responsible for that aspect of the management team. To me that indicates he is a good judge of player. That's why I, and many others, trust Hill. In regards to Grimes, Hill only seems to be confirming what Coleman (no matter what you think of him) and even Eyre (albeit on a lesser scale granted - Grimes was benched towards the end of his tenure in favour of Bunn and Ball) about Grimes. We can, at a push, convince ourselves that Coleman and Eyre (less so) were wrong about Grimes, but when Hill confirms it then we have to take note of that.
I trust Hill to turn this around far more than I trust Grimes to regularly deliver the performances to turn this around. |  |
