Sounds promising.

Interesting comment - “They all want to leave a legacy for Swansea City, which is incredible because you rarely see that mentality at other clubs. Usually it is just about the first team and immediate success.’’

Genetically, paedophiles have more genes in common with crabs than they do with you and me. Now that is scientific fact. There's no real evidence for it, but it is scientific fact.

Lucky you didn't say his name was Pep! Could have been a let-down.

So did Pennock jump because he didn't want somebody over his head, or was he pushed? Either way, this doesn't seem a straight replacement. I assume someone else will be coming in for the more hands-on role?

Sounds like he has an excellent pedigree and is exactly the type of coach we should be looking to employ.

Yeah, I wondered about that too. It will be interesting to find out what happens to TP.

We need to be striving to improve in every aspect of the club. If that puts some people's noses out of joint then so be it.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

...and TP has an extremely big nose! In Tony's defence where has it been stated that he has quit?

Personal.... I think pennock have done a good job, seeing the likes of Shaun mac, jazz, Allen and of course Ben all braking into our first team squad and becoming international players all be it most are playing with other clubs now but all are still involved in their new clubs first team. But his biggest and prob his best achievement is over seeing the development of our new training ground, that is something that will always be apart of our club and he had a massive hand in helping bring that together.

This pep guy sounds good but just look at how many clubs he's been with in the past few years, that tells me he ain't here for the long haul and he's here to make a name for himself in a short space of time But I for one will not be moaning if he helps my club bring through a better quality of youngsters...

I wish both pennock and pep all the very.... And good luck to pennock in what ever the future holds for him...

He did do a good job but we need to evolve now and the academies have become a bit stale.Great news this and hopefully he'll shake it up from top to bottom.

Shaun Mac was one of Curts

Jazz and Joe Allen were a combo of Curt and Mossy

Ben was a mixture of Curt, Mossy and Penns...

But yes he has delivered cat 2. In my experience he's always done a good job. However we should be on the same footing as Southampton with our catchment area

I like the continuity of playing the same style of football throughout (a la Ajax) and as good as TP has been , this guy's pedigree is different class and an improvement on what we have, so on the face of it, a good appointment.

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

Be good if we can create a coaching structure as well, then promote from within for years to come, ala Barcelona. That will maintain that philosophy throughout.

Poll: Some scummer on the anus board reckons 80% of us want them to go down. so... do

It looks like he's come in to make sure our investment in infrastructure isn't wasted. Looking at the OS article it seems like he'll be developing the structure to develop coaches as well as our young players.

This is a vital time for our club to push on and be sustainable for our entire future, even if we only develop 1 or 2 players every few seasons capable of playing in our side, we can sell the others to lower league sides which could fund the academy on it's own.

This guy looks to be a development specialist, no disrespect to anyone that has gone before him but this appointment was needed.

Well done Sir Huwbert for putting our clubs future first - and good luck to Pep.

pep - if you think all the best coaches that you can employ for premiership Swansea City all (somehow) live within 10 miles of your own house, then you will have made the same mistake as the last fella.....

Just a point - isn't it interesting that the article points out that he retired from his amateur career. Wonder if any disgruntled parents will throw in the "what level has he played at" jibe when he takes the club forward at the expense of their child.

Or will he not get that chucked at him "cos he's foreign"...

Now we’ve made the commitment to put in place our playing structure at every level it makes sense to employ people who have experience/knowledge to coach it.

No disrespect to Pennock, but is he really qualified to run our system now? We are not just developing talent, we developing it to play a specific way.

As our style of football is more wide spread in Spain and Holland, it makes sense to recruit staff from these places. We can then look to develop our own staff over time.

I'm not sure how many full time coaches there are down there now, but it would seem
logical you can’t have an academy where all the staff have played a high standard of football. What matters is the quality of their coaching and having the proper qualifications.

I'm sorry but I've watched the u18s and 21s under kris o'leary and Chris Llewelyn and those teams play to the same still of football as our first team, as do the u15 and 14 under local boys Jon grey and tony wright.... So I have to correct you there, the youth are now playing the same style as the first team already... I think this appointment is more to do with pushing the youth cat up another level and maybe improving other parts of the system like scouting abroad, I doing know I'm just giving an example.

But I do agree with the fact that maybe pennock wasn't the man to take us that extra step.

This new guy sounds very promising and I look forward to catching a few more of our youth games with him at the elm....

The whole "where have you played" argument makes me laugh.

Paul Merson and Jamie Redknapp (for example) were both International footballers. Both of them are laughably clueless when it comes to analysis of the game. Bottom line is idiots are idiots whether they can kick a ball or not.

I think Wenger, Mourinho and now AVB have put paid to the idea that you have to have played at the highest level in order to be a success. Most footballers live in a bubble and lauded all their careers.Does it make then knowledgeable about the game? Does it phuck!.

Gary Neville comes along and talks sense and he's now the people's choice. It's a simple game made difficult by thickos.

Yes but we have a wonderful habit here of chucking that in at people who haven't played.

It'll be interesting to see how the philosophy pans out, and whether or not we'll have the youth boys running up and down f*cking sand dunes in pre season
