With how tight the majority of our scorelines are a player of his calibre on for 20mins at the end of games could be the difference - especially considering he's got a shot on him as well. Mental to think this time last year we were sticking Abdulai on the wing !!
If for example we had a deal in the pipeline for stadium sponsorship or shirt sponsors next year etc. - we could potentially speculate that income now on players knowing we'll be good for the money under PSR right?
Ah right... wasn't aware it was a 5 year contract, that makes a lot more sense. Suppose the risk is if the player doesn't fire you are stuck with the wages for a considerable amount of time- shows they have faith in him though to be willing to do that!
The narrative of a 'wow' signing I think gave us all unrealistic expectations. Reality is we're building and the project is still developing - a year or 2 from now and I think we'll have much more pull to get those kind of players through the door.
Absolutely - nothing but good things to say about the recruitment team. That's what I'm saying though this feels like more of an O'Dea call than something they'd have planned
Maybe journeyman is pushing it but are you seriously telling me this transfer excites you? He went for 10m last year but now fee rumoured is a couple mill - think that says a lot
My only worry is if Idah is a genuine target it feels like O'Dea and Sheehan have control as opposed to the recruitment team. We need to stick to the model of uncovering talent rather than spending decent amount on journeymen who are rendered dead assets.
After what started out as a promising window I can't help but feel targets are starting to feel a bit random? I was under the impression going into the window we had targets already sought, unless of course theres dialogue behind the scenes we're completely unaware of right now...
