That Cole Hatrick always sticks in my memory. I think it was his first when they got a free kick and the ball went in to the lower loft where I used to sit all those years ago. Some kid had the ball and would not throw it back in when Cole came to collect the ball. The kid balanced it on the wall until Cole got to him then he threw the ball over Cole’s head back on to the pitch. Cole stood there and clapped him sarcastically and the lower loft tore in to Cole. I genuinely thought at that moment, we will pay for that - and 1min later Cole smashes the free kick in to the back of the net and then scores 3. |

What excites me about this JS team so far is that for the Charlton Saito goal and for Kone’s goal yesterday there is this alien concept of having three attackers, one left, one centre and one right speedily approaching the opponents box with the ball being brought quickly in behind them through the centre. It must terrify defences. Koki kept going whereas Madsen played a perfectly weighted ball exactly where Kone needed it to be then BOOM. More of this please. |

That is one very confident and professional young man. Looking forward to Sints being bank alongside him if and when he is ready. |

I think this thread is a bit like people who post a product review on Amazon the day after they had delivery of a new microwave. I’ve plugged it in and it heated my food. Let’s come back in 6mths and assess whether the microwave has broken down every couple of weeks or does not defrost like I was expecting. In all seriousness from what I witnessed on Saturday the signs are good at least for the attacking options we have brought in - Kone, Burrell and Koki. Mbengue I’m still a little nervous about - more so in how many yellows/reds/penalties he might rack up. RND and Hayden too early to tell. |

+1 for not being Walsh’s direct fault. It looks like Mbengue moved to jump and head it and either realised he would not reach it or thought he could let it go as it was going wide. I think his jump put off Walsh who then set himself only to then see it bounce inside the post. Horrible but fluke goal. The frustration about his kicking is that the way the team set up over by the sideline is high risk low reward. A number of times in the first half I saw Jimmy waving all the players over towards him but then he gets out jumped or put off under pressure and he does not head Walsh’s kick. Where I think Walsh does need to get better is those clearances under pressure and working on kicking further or more accurately and not invite the pressure straight back on. The club have asked for patience with our young players as they gain experience and find their way but the GK position where sympathy runs thin very quickly. |

Talking of that pace, having watched his goal back a few times and pausing it along the way I was impressed with how quickly Burrell, Kone and kolli were on their bikes once Koki accelerated out of the centre circle and kept the Charlton back line occupied with a 4 on 4 threat that allowed Koki to get in to their box unchallenged. More of that kind of stuff please Rangers |

Just back and my Mrs and girls are surprised that I did not arrive in cartwheeling down the street. The result was the important and pleasing thing. Good: Kone can finish and appears to have a footballing brain. Koki, everything about Koki. RND looked like he has played at LB before and fitted in after a week and did a good enough job. Burrell too seems to have something about him. I also thought Smythie worked his socks off for the first half hour and deserved his goal. Not so good: we seem to have to have a mental fragility from 46th min until 80th minute too often. I felt Varane was causing a lot of the problems with this cautious approach, going backwards or dallying on the ball. Mbemgue is, as some pointed out he signed, RAW. He could easily have been a liability today and was lucky with the Kerman challenge. The most important thing today was a home win much earlier in the season and a two week break to get Hayden back up to speed and JCS somewhere near the team by then. |

I think you may have misunderstood being fit and available with not yet being integrated into the 1st team squad the same week they sign. I suspect there is a need for a couple of weeks of training with new team mates on (the supposed) club game philosophy and understanding the roles and patterns of play. I don’t think it is always the case of walk in the front door don a number 9 shirt and 2 days later just start upfront and play 90mins at Watford. |

No, I thought the same thing. It’s not making stuff up to get angry about just an observation that the club hierarchy recognised that the proverbial would hit the fan after the weekend and this triple announcement ahead of the training day allows those new players to be on show and everyone will be queuing up for a photo with Koki. If true then you can’t blame them. Hayden + RND are the sensible signings in principle and Koki is the feel good signing who brings a smile to our faces. Important to put things right VERY quickly on Sat lunchtime. I can see RND straight in to take the heat off of the young left back but I suspect Hayden is a few games out of being in contention to start. |

Sending my very best wishes for a full and quick recovery. As many have said the one constant positive contribution to the club which we can be rightly proud of since he became the club ambassador. I hope that Sints gets the same support and care from the club as he has shown to others. |

No. Whether he can be, will be, could be or should be is not the point. JS has had 2 games (no he has not had 3 games) so the discussion after 2 games is simply ridiculous. |

The timing of Kieran Morgan's goal could not have been better. I was up towards the back of the away stand as the stewards were trying to get everyone to stay in the section and row printed on their ticket but many of the yuff were not having it and pushing the stewards out of the way. Maybe because I was in the middle of it but there seems to be a lot of booing for a period of 5 mins or maybe more just before the goal and some of the people around me really need to go and get some counselling or watch another sport before they have a heart attack. Had Morgan not scored before the break, I would have feared the team being booed off at HT which could have led to an even more powder puff performance from the team as after the break as heads had clearly dropped after that 2nd goal went in. Hard to argue with some of the assessment of the performance and fitness levels, but talk of Steve Bould being lined up as manager as a Plan B is just total nonsense - he is not even the first team defensive coach - his remit is the entire club from top to bottom. You don't have to particularly warm to JS, his Gallic persona is going to not land well with some but for f''k's sake let's give the bloke a few games to prove he can at least be on a performance par with Marti and Warbs teams before writing him off. |
 | Forum Reply | Wat's the chances of a high scoring draw - match fred at 17:45 16 Aug 2025
Latest bizarre team selection? It’s only his 2nd team selection this season - the cup game was handed over to the Dev Squad and taken out of his hands by ‘the club’ I.e. CN. Yeah he got it wrong on the left side first half and then rectified it at HT. Kone has had 5mins to be measured up for his shirt and shorts and you think it’s an unfathomable mystery that he did not start and score in this team? With the service he would get prime Thierry Henry would not get a sniff. Some grounds for optimism at FT unlike 2 seasons ago under GA where there was something to actually worry about. |
