What's Yer Cheese ?

I knew a lass from Putney
Who was very fond of chutney
A kilo of cheese
She’d polish off with ease
But I thought that was gluttony

We weren’t playing Old Brentford yesterday either.
They are where now is where CN and JS are aspiring us to be in 3-5 years not weeks.
They are in every way in a different league to us so the first half I saw was no more or no less of what I expected.

A 2nd week of training with Burrell will hopefully see him on the bench again and then get mins against Preston in an attacking threat we have been crying out for.

So taking your argument at face value you are saying that Beale was able to F off straight to Glasgow Rangers because they are not a direct competitor of QPR - as they are in a different league - so he moved mid season and took up the new position straight away?

Whereas when he was talking to WBA 6 weeks before, our legal team once we caught wind of it reminded him that he had a 12 mth non compete clause so he backed down and started talking about loyalty and staying to see the job through?

I don’t buy that.

I am not saying that clubs don’t have some clause in there - I have such a clause in my own management contract at work - but realistically it is very difficult to make it stand up in court because I cannot reasonably be expected to retrain as a plumber at age 57 after 30 years in the card payments industry.

I don’t know for sure but at the end of the day if a manager wants to leave a club, the club will take steps to protect their investment but it is about comp and not stopping working for 12mths.

Probably not an exact science though as some do seem to be out of work for a while after a mutual agreement part ways

Sorry - ‘calling the shots’ was not intended to be a rebuke to your post - my bad - but others do seem to suggest they have a right to demand total transparency of what is effectively a multiple million pound business when that is not the reality.

But putting aside this argument about contract lengths ( which I personally really do not give two hoots about), having worked in middle management in large corporates for 30 years I think they are all the same. Cards close to their chest, paranoid about stuff they don’t want leaked - leaked and sharing intel and updating the troops only when they are ready.

I can’t do anything about it, but I also am too much of an addict to stick 2 fingers up to their lack of transparency and refuse to renew.

I just want to see us win more games but accept that we are in a constant struggle that rich owners cannot simply spend their way out of.

Considering the club are also not doing typical release/retained lists, etc too, we're going to be at a point soon where every summer we don't know who is still here for the next season.

But the only ones that I am aware of who are not confirmed at this point in the window are Fox and Colback. The rest have either been sold (Kerman) or renewed (Dunne).

We suspect that there might be something going on with Varane but if there is it is not finalised and therefore why would they say anything either way - and there is suspicion that Nandi is out of favour - but again it is all heresay and if the club are in negotiations at this point but it is not complete why show your hand only to have egg on your face if it all falls through.

I’m another addict who renews regardless as I am not giving up my legroom seat at the top of the stairs. Doesn’t mean that I am happy clappy about it but invest £600 in to a season ticket and not £1m per month to keep it a float so I don’t expect to call the shots.

Kensal, I think that there is most likely a middle ground between what you are Jon are saying.

I would be very surprised that in the top four leagues of the English game and probably elsewhere that the agents and solicitors involved in contracts for managers would allow a restraint of trade clause to be embedded in a manager’s contract - probably more so now than ever before because a manager is more likely to be sacked these days rather than move on - especially the premier league. I suspect that there is wording in the contract that covers the event that a manager initiates the termination of their own contract to move elsewhere that ensures that any move to an alternate employer results in compensation for the club in the same way most managers probably are not just “sacked” with one weeks notice and have a large percentage of their outstanding contract paid off over a period of time.

Which, I suspect, is exactly why there is an information embargo on Senor Cifuentes exit from the club. It is clear we got money from Leicester /Marti but it has been known for a number of months that Leicester City would be a direct competitor (to the extent that we will both be in the same league) this season.

Your other point about managers disappearing for a period before being reappointed I put down more to the fact that the kind of money they are on allows them to just lick their wounds, go home and spend time with the family and annoy the Mrs for a couple of months and then decide to get off their arse and start looking for a new job.

Can you share the details of that please?
I seem to remember them saying a year or so back that it was not so much the speaker system that was the issue but more so the ancient wiring that needed to be stripped out.

I know there are likely to be be much more qualified electrical engineers or music engineers on this forum but for my own limited knowledge of trying to run a PA system for a simple wedding/function band for 25 years, I suspect that much of the problem is how you implement a solution that actually “works”. What I mean is that you cannot just mount or dangle a very larger speaker from a pillar or strut or roof hoarding every 50m and just expect it to work. I don’t know the science but there is phase, time delays, bounce back and lots of other ‘fine tuning’ of the sound acoustics if you are going to do it properly - Maybe £1m sounds a little excessive but the cost of everything in the corporate world is always ‘x times’ what you think it would cost you as a homeowner to kit your downstairs living rooms, outside deck and your downstairs toilet with a Sonos multi room system.

Clive, you obviously either have had the patience of a saint to rewatch the entire forum online the minute it was put live, or as a seasoned journo have a finely crafted Pitman (other shorthands are available) technique or you just have a great memory. - but thank you for the prompt and accurate regurgitation of last nights proceedings for those who either missed it or can’t be bothered to invest the time to listen to it .

+1

There was is very little acceptance within some of the fan base that commercial and operating sensitivity is a real and actually important thing and the leadership are quiet cos they have to be.

Very much enjoyed watching albeit with nothing spectacularly exciting.
A good dose of reality and focusing on QPR as a sustainable business first rather than a dash to the premier league at all costs.

Clear that any capital project investments will only be made where there is a return in the short term. Does spending £1mm on the PA system bring in new revenue - no it just means I actually hear who is being indicted at half time.
It will be interesting to see what the cut in price of a pint of beer will be. I guess 25p off a pint is not going to have the masses running from The C&S and Defectors at midday.

I personally think Ben Williams has been seen by some as the head physio of the 1st team whereas his remit has sat at a strategic level. It seems clear that what interested Steve Bould in coming to us is a chance to operate across all age groups rather than just a first team defence coach so I didn’t get stressed when I heard he would not be in the dugout of a Saturday.

I felt everything about last night was direction of travel and sticking to the philosophy from now on and therefore from Sat week for me all eyes will be solely on JS ability to get the current crop of 1st team players singing so that next season if not this season Varane goes then followed by Morgan, then a Morrison or Poku. The plan being that they get replaced from the production line below and slot in. It’s ambitious but largely sensible because we have gone through enough managers and DOF and chop and change and none of it has worked.

They are asking for both trust and more patience but I guess many in the fanbase have run out of one or the other or both.
More cake tomorrow at the moment.

Why FFS?

Lowball offers probably made to 2 aging but experienced players at this level
They have until Sept to try and get a better offer elsewhere.
No panic

Especially when some on here would say both were liabilities at times anyway.

If Dunne was holding out at this then I would worry wtf was going on.

Genuine thoughts on this Marti wants to quit narrative .

Dave Mc and Ian McCullough are both WLS journos.

One tries and puts the club in a bad light by saying that poor Marti is thinking of resigning because of big bad C(hild)EO and gets it as far as the Sun. Albeit no direct quotes from Marti just journo supposeded ITK. So the question is why does Marti even need to do that. He can sit tight and see the season out knowing his stock is reasonable for other clubs. Agents can do the bad mouthing of QPR to potential suitors so Marti does not need to.

So WLS support Marti and dirty their bin and access to the club management.

However…

Last week Dave Mc then gets access to said CEO for lengthy interview.

This doesn’t sit well with me. The club could just as easily be feeding the Marti is thinking of quitting line if they needed a narrative out there ahead of wanting to get rid of him and use Ian as that mouthpiece. I’m not saying they did - I’m just saying you can switch the narrative.

The truth of the matter is that the truth does not ultimately matter because each party has their truth and hence the compromise is the parting of ways with an NDA which will again become evident tonight if the word ‘Marti’ gets raised by anyone from the floor. It would not surprise me if Paul Morrissey even makes an announcement to the room before the broadcast starts to say that no questions will be answered on the former manager so don’t even bother.

I have not even read the review article myself but from the contentious paragraph extract which had been regurgitated on here, I think it is disingenuous of Beans to attack a statement which merely reflects the temperature of some of the fan base who travelled.

I know everyone hates a fence sitter but I can only pass judgement on facts and in the case of Marti Cifuentes exit there are none available to me.

We won’t know if Marti was a ‘1980s Russian Bride’ from day one - desperate to get to England but very quickly wants to move on to a richer man or whether the club said this and promised that but once he was through the door he realised he had been sold a pup and had an uphill task ahead of him that turned out to be much harder than he thought and the CEO was a demanding boss wanting better results and a disagreement therein ensued on hitting targets.

In three months time if Julian’s QPR are in the bottom three then around the table of the various QPR pubs moaning and arguing and debating and offering of opinions will be given - I suspect without too many punches thrown or pints thrown into someone’s face or offers to go outside.
On social media there is very little debate for some, just shouting down of others viewpoints and insults - which is ridiculous because the arguments are purely based on people not actually knowing what the fxuk is actually going on inside our club.

Great atmosphere in the bars and restaurants of Alcudia Port tonight during extra time and penalties tonight.

Fortunately our Spanish local hosts defeat was taken with good grace.

I think jokes like that are bad form Ted.

QPR is one of the few clubs who actively employe short people.

Traditionally midgets seldom get work in football and struggle to put food on the table.
