We need to move away from having a bloated squad of players who are below-par for the prem (to put it kindly) and either buy real quality, use what we have, or use the loan market.

I’d argue that RM was also the wrong man for the job and our strategy has been flawed even before Wilcox left.
Yes he got us promoted, but we finished fourth with the second best squad and conceded far too many goals. This wasn’t the sort of preparation we needed for life in the prem.
In my opinion, the best way to prepare for life in the prem is to make yourself very hard to score against and assemble a squad that will out-muscle, out-fight and out-run any other team. Keeping possession for the sake of it is fool hardy. |

Goals against were always gonna be our downfall this season and it doesn’t matter whether we play three, four or five at the back the outcome is the same because we aren’t good enough to play it out from the back.
I don’t like to see managers sacked but RM has proven this season and last that he is unable or unwilling to play pragmatic football therefore he needs to go now before we waste any more winnable games. |

That team selection last night was a cry for help. The board need to put him out of his misery, he’s out of his depth, inflexible and getting more and more desperate.
Conceding goals has always been an issue for RM’s teams, and a newly promoted team is never gonna out score the opposition on enough occasions to get to 40 points. He needed to build solid foundations over the summer, instead we have champ level centre backs, so it’s inevitable we get the same old shit show every week… |

Definitely worth a punt at that price.
I think Ings would fit well into our formation and style of play, more so than Adams currently does (although I would be pleased if Adams stayed).
Adams is a back to the goal type of striker whereas we seem to be at our best when we have forwards running the channels and running at defenders, so I think he Will be more effective with Saints than he was at the Hammers |

What RM said to the press after the game and what he said to the players in the dressing are two different things…I hope. I commend him for sticking up for the players in public as this defeat sits squarely with the manager.
Games are won and lost in midfield and he substituted 3 of our 4 starting midfielders. To me this says he has no clue what his best team or how to set up his team to play his one style of play. A manager who is unable to adapt his style to the players he has at his disposal is on borrowed time in the championship… |

There needs to be a massive autopsy at the end of the season and blame needs to be laid at the feet of those responsible, mainly due to the sheer number of major mistakes that have been made since SR took over but also to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We need to learn and quickly, not just accept it and move on to the next mistake.

I don’t feel sorry for Selles, he was arrogant enough to think he was ready to manage a team in the prem, his cv definitely didn’t suggest he was ready. I’m sure the millions he will receive from SR will soften the blow when he’s unemployed.
