Is Saito a future 10?
at 09:04 18 Sep 2025

Every season people write Chair off, every season we look better with him in the side.
Not only is he our most talented player, he also works his bollox off. He had a bad goalscoring season last year, but the last 5 seasons his goals and assists combined have been 8, 15, 14, 14, 12. Nobody has been as consistent as him for us over the last few seasons.

Saito is wonderful and having them both is magnificent. No shame in one being a sub and coming on to change a game

Charlie Austin on Under the Cosh

Absolute hero.

Came in to score goals to take us up and promptly did it.
Played with half a shoulder in the play offs and scored the goals to take us to Wembley.
Unbelievable in the Prem. Got an England call up lest we forget.

He came back at a dark time for the club. We had sold Eze and were resting the whole thing working on a young Ilias Chair, an emerging Chris Willock, Lyndon Dykes and McAulley Bonne. We were awful that first half of lockdown.
His return started the best form this club has seen for a decade. His first game away at Luton he came in, scored and we won. Was perfect

When he re-signed what should've happened was he was used as a sub to bring on and lift the crowd whilst he mentored and helped others. However we had a ridiculous summer, sold nobody, bought everybody and decided we were going up so he wasn't managed properly. By January it was done really (remember him sitting in the stands after he was subbed in the cup v Rotherham).
A bad 6 months shouldn't cloud the fact he took us up, tried as best he could to keep us up and then returned to keep us up in the division below.

13/14 - 34 games 19 goals
14/15 - 35 games 18 goals
15/16 - 16 games 9 goals
20/21 - 21 games 7 goals
21/22 - 38 games 7 goals

That's some record

I'd go with

..................Nardi.............
Dunne...Mbengue..Morrison..RND
...........Varane....Field...........
Smyth.........Vale........Saito
.................Kone.................

I suspect that we will see Walsh in goal though with Vale maybe dropped for Madsen or Morgan

Great pod.
If Clive wasn't working a full time job alongside running the website I'd say he should really look at making this a weekly pod.

Matt has been v happy clappy on Twitter, but hearing him actually talk I thought he made a lot more sense than the 'Nourry is cooking' crowd on Twitter.
He's obviously super impressed with the development squad and that's what he likes about CN. Fair do's. Most of us don't watch them religiously but he seems to.
Also, having two young kids and trying to get them into QPR is really fking hard! Taking a super positive approach makes it a lot easier. I've already had to cede ground and allow mine to have Arsenal as their Prem team

Great discussion all round. Conflicting views on a few things, but people happy to concede ground in their argument as well

Finally saw a win!
at 09:19 3 Sep 2025

My son saw his first win since we beat Preston 2-1 on December 22nd.
Before then he hadn't seen a win since we beat Reading 4-0 Jan 29th 2022!!

Taylor Richards gone…thank god.
at 09:14 3 Sep 2025

Lee Hoos in an interview on Open All R's saying they decided to 'keep the band together for another go'.
We had Dickie, Dieng, Chair and Willock who all could've gone for north of £5m and some closer to £10m.

Very QPR to put in a promotion level year long performance in 2021 but forget to time it across an actual football season

The issue is we are about to spend £4m and big wages (apparently) on a position we are absolutely stocked in and have big wages committed to for the foreseeable future

Anyone read Japanese?

Kolli will be used as a striker and Sutton is only 17.
Dembele, Chair, Poku, Smyth isn't really enough I don't think. Saito only 23 as well so a good pick up if price is right

If you keep Dunne, JCS, Varane fit all season, sign a left back, sign a CM, Burrell turns out to be decent and Poku, Chair, Dembele all fire then yeah... the team is good. But you are asking A LOT of things to happen

The striker situation has I suppose now been addressed with Burrell and Ba being added to Frey/Celar/Kolli.
No idea if it's good enough.

Left back is just the huge red flashing sign for me

SC HEERENVEEN friendly...
at 19:38 26 Jul 2025

I do think if we are going to play 2 in midfield with Chair in behind the striker we are in for a world of pain.
Field is a great battler, but isn't great at progressing the ball, whilst Madsen and Morgan are far too easy to run off.
I'd still have 3 in there with Chair off the left.

The need for a left back is stark as well

If Kelman won't sign a new deal (understandable) and a decent offer is on the table then we should cash in.
I'd rather keep him, but if he starts scoring without that contract then he will walk for free in the summer.

We need to sell players, always. If it's for anything above £2m then we take the money and invest

So manager comes from French league, and 3 linked players from the French league. It doesn't scream 'elite scouting operation' if I'm honest.
Encouraging that we are linked with strikers and CM's as we need people in those positions.
Mad that we haven't gone for a LB yet.... but still time

Field is a wonderful DM. Can run all day and tackle like an animal. What he will never be though is someone to receive the ball, turn and punch it forward. It's not his game and if we are playing with a 2 man midfield behind a '10' we are going to struggle a lot this season

Interesting that the bids have come from Luton and Charlotte FC. Not exactly the high end Champ clubs some thought.
I'd love to keep him. He's done the hard yards on loan and it seems a shame to lose him as he starts to come good. However if he isn't signing a deal you need to take the money you can for him. He is unproven at this level
