Come back Southgate...

Because you still need to control the game and have a coherent shape.
We played one DM v Andora and were terrible because the players were all standing on each others toes.

Come back Southgate...
at 10:58 11 Jun 2025

Almost like Southgate was fantastic for England and achieved far more than any of his storied predecessors, but was mocked because he was a decent bloke.

That being said we were pony last Euro's and somehow scrapped to the final (won one match in 90 mins).

It seems Tuchel has decided he wants to play ALL THE ATTACKERS (which Southgate did last summer as well) but that never works for England. The best we have looked is with 2 deep pivots (Rice and Phillips/Henderson) but we can't play that because teenagers on Social Media moan it's boring.

I do wonder at what stage they realise they've made an almighty screw up of this with regards to gardening leave/compensation and hiring someone with Marti still technically in place, and so we give it to Furlong for the season (likely with disastrous results as we put another legend through the QPR ringer)

25/26. New kits
at 08:21 6 Jun 2025

Think we are reading WAAAAYYYYY to much into this.
Assume the home kit launches on the Friday and we have our final pre season game on the Saturday where you can buy the shirt in the club shop.
Away shirt for the tour and third shirt for other friendlies

If you look at the squad during the season he signed it still had Sandro and Caulker in but otherwise it didn't exactly scream billy bog bollox on loads of money.
This was the Sylla, Yeni, Pawel, Bidwell, Goss, Cousins squad so perhaps they were players that should've been on £6-£7k a week but were getting £10-15k

Think there's some merit in seeing if Fox or Colback will extend for a year.
You do need squad players like that and you can't always just chuck in a kid and hope they'll give you 10 decent games

Seems as though they are giving some of the older players their own send off from within the DS.

Certainly the departing statements are something Nourrey has gotten right

He has the ingredients to be a good manager. Lest we forget he was doing well for us before he went to Rangers far to early in his career.
The Sunderland job was just weird. They hated him, he hated them.
A scrappy London club where he can have them batting above their station is perfect for him.
Hull a basket case, he'd be better off going to League 1 and starting from there

Doesn't scream 'We searched far and wide'.
Just an available bloke who doesn't want to move back to Denmark yet.

Not sure how he's going to be any better than Marti, but maybe he will be the perfect fir for the club. Let's see

Yeah I thought that stood out on the podcast. Perhaps they blame Marti for some of the injuries and how he managed those 3 game weeks

You'd imagine Charlton will have to much for Orient if they get past Wycombe.
Hope the O's do it. Much rather do an away day there than Charlton... again

Players who you thought would be brilliant but ended up being bang average !!!
at 08:57 14 May 2025

Thought Shabazz was going to be great. Also bought into the Nick Ward hype.
Whoever said Scott Donnelly, I was all in on that one

Granero should've been brilliant, but obviously the team a complete mess

I thought this was a good interview.
Addresses the Marti situation as well pretty head on, still seems positive on the club moving forward.

He's a good captain and a good defender. Really pleased he is staying.

Well this makes sense to me... Wenger on new VAR idea
at 07:53 8 May 2025

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the 'Big 6' fans are the ones who moan the loudest about referees and VAR.
Everyone else gets on with it, but god forbid ickle Arsenal or Chelsea should have a controversial decision go against them.

It's football, swings & roundabouts

He will probably be fine with Varane and Field behind. But if we are going down that route I think Chair in the middle is better

This is all getting a bit Paladini/WATRB days where ITK posters would pop up on message boards to pedal 'fan opinions'.

We've lived through it once and won't be fooled again. Whoever at the club is doing this, knock it off, it's pathetic. This message board is great because it isn't a cesspit of toxic opinions. It's 50 page threads on Lewis Wing and tracking Ebere Eze's performance in a chess tournament.

Pack it in

Marti is going. Think we need to be at peace with that. If there was none of the backstabbing and bitching and WBA came in for him because he is, quite clearly, a good manager then we would probably all accept it. He left another club to come to us, that's the football food chain.

What *might* keep him here is that there's some big Championship fish out there whos whole schtick is they will get you promoted. Cooper, O'Neil and probably Farke are going to be available this summer. So if you are a larger Champ club (WBA, Norwich, Leicester, Saints, Boro) then you will probably want to go all in on those. And before anyone here suggests we look at those managers I ask you to get in the real world!

Rohl and Marti have been outstanding managers in terrible circumstances. They've both earned their shot at bigger and better run clubs. QPR just need to (somehow) not shit the bed and make sure they bring in the right manager

Rest of the Championship thread
at 10:04 28 Apr 2025

When you look at who's been in trouble this season it's Championship stalwarts like Stoke, PNE, Hull, Cardiff.
THat should really set alarm bells ringing with our board (lol).

There will be dross, there's always dross. The key is to be less drossy than everyone else. Also teams that seemingly are fine can plummet pretty quickly. Blackburn one to watch (always) plus Norwich's slow and steady downward trend could accelerate pretty quickly.

Like this season, if everyone is fit we should be OK. But nobody is ever fit

Thing is, if he was happy here and WBA came in for him he'd still leave regardless.
