Should absolutely have had a hat trick - before he scored he had another chance to have a shot and didn't, which was maybe the second clear opportunity where he chose to square the ball instead.

Anyway that can all be worked on - looks like a superb bit of business.

Some of the prices of movers are astronomical, so we got one off Shiply. Conversely I'd only use them if you're looking for the cheapest rather than a more comprehensive sort of service.

You submit a contents list and people start bidding based on that, at which point you need to try to research the various people who've contacted you. Main initial drawback being your contents list will probably grow and you'll have to adjust it, and the quotes.

We ended up with two Lithuanians who were not at all positive when they showed up. After a fair bit of back and forth and speaking to the manager (the older bloke's wife I reckon) we got it sorted out, but we did help them throughout. Three floors down and three back up to the new place, no lift.

Best workout I've had in a while and the relationship had transformed into one of sweaty cameraderie by the end. If you're not looking for that sort of thing I'd probably steer clear.

When I see people have downvoted me I automatically assume they've done it in error, having meant in fact to upvote me based on their firm agreement with my view or gag.

I find this keeps things on an even keel, reducing any murderous tendencies.

Contactless debit cards
at 11:12 7 Sep 2025

I was in Jakarta over Xmas. The hotel manager was this hard working early 30s guy, quite ambitious, still lived with his parents, as a lot of people do in Asian cities these days. He had an accountancy business outside the hotel and a couple of people working for him.

Anyway he said he was putting most of his money from all that hard work into gold. Said it was the safest and most lucrative option these days.

Seems it's starting to kick off in Jakarta now based on persistent inequality, cost of living etc, and I've thought of him often this year when I hear of the price of gold going ever higher - seems like he was bang on.

With full respect I don't see a modern cellular telephone fitting into one of those card slots without severely damaging it (?!)

Good man.

Yeah that's fine. I'm more worried about the global conspiracy, Big Crypto forcing us to use our phones etc. Like with the season tickets but on a larger scale.

I should probably check with the bank first.

Contactless debit cards

As if the postings on here couldn't get more interesting, has anyone of a certain age/ludite inclination noticed their ability to use their actual physical debit card getting phased out?

Mine seemed to be required to be inserted every 3 goes or so for the last few months, and now it's stopped working contactlessly altogether.

Personally I don't want to get my phone out all the time, usually twice because I hadn't stuck my thumb on it properly the first time.

If there is a final straw this may well be it for me. What happens after the final straw is anyone's guess. (Possibly nothing).

Summer Transfer Window - Patreon Podcast

Good question, I'd be very interested in seeing that too.

It also puts pressure on the idea of racking and stacking certain positions for sale 2-3 years from now.

A great listen anyway. I couldn't agree with about half of what Matt said at all, but the fact that it was all done cordially, and he's inviting Hunter to stay engaged despite differing views, was the most important aspect of it all, I thought.

A lot of the arguments on here would progress a lot more reasonably face to face, you'd think...
