I think the poster is equating a 9 with the idea of a CF, as compared to a fox in the box John Spencer type. I myself struggle with what number to give that type of foxy boxy player. Different types of 9 I suppose. In many ways it hails back to the days of 442, jumpers for goalposts, mother's calling, dinner's ready. Now we just pass it around interminably and wait for death. |

Apart from Celar I'd guess the balance sheet has got things on it like: wages of players who've gone, Kelman's £, where we are in the PFS cycle, other potential sales, and the potential Eze sale. Depending on how that all looks they may think they can find Kone level money, or that he's at least worth the risk in terms of later headroom. It would also make us a lot more tolerant of weaknesses elsewhere in the squad, speaking for myself anyway. But it's still the sort of thing that doesn't happen to us. |

Yeah missed him out - and I'd like to see a replay of him winning that corner - looked like he really fired up the old afterburners [Post edited 4 Aug 13:10]

I didn't feel too annoyed as a result of that on Saturday to be honest. Maybe I should but it was so clearly a mismatch in most positions, it was more about improving fitness, avoiding injury (not sure) etc I thought Morrison looked very good, apart from the goal. Dembele looked sharp, and Chair got a lot of further fitness into him which he'll need because he appears to be told to run all over the place. I also liked what I saw of Adamson - yes he needs to not dive in, even against weaker opposition, but he's got plenty of energy and tenacity, and a bit of an idea about him in the final third. Morgan struggled but will hopefully learn from it, and as Clive mentioned we seem now to be asking Larkeche to do all sorts of things, which just can't be sensible, so we'll see what happens there. Support-wise there was far less of an uncomfortable edge than I thought there might have been, but maybe that tells its own story. And no idea at all whey he wouldn't get Mbengue and Burrell on for 20 mins at least - am sure Julie has his reasons but beats me. |

On the other hand I feel strongly that something is cooking. Big Julie is chopping it all up and next week he's going to chuck it all in whatever a french frying pan is called and make us all whatever is the french word for our dinner. What that dish will be, and whether or not it's edible, or even safe to eat is another story. [Post edited 2 Aug 17:33]

Which other one, the Armstrong re-do or the one we can't afford? |
 | Forum Reply | The new kit at 10:26 1 Aug 2025
I like it a lot, but is it my imagination or doesn't the ladies kit normally taper a bit more than the men's? On the shop page they look identical in shape. Either way I probably don't have the physique to carry off the home shirt these days. Something to aim for maybe. |

Thanks for taking the time to do all that, Clive. Interesting to see some of it in print. It was a bit of an awkward occasion, as is often the case, but more good than bad on show overall. I think Nourry is a hardworking, ambitious, intelligent bloke, who generally seems to be learning, and does seem to have a relatively coherent plan. He was more open than ever (I thought) about the focus being on developing players, and that is going to come with some pain at times next season I'm sure. He made some decent points in his slightly cranky, old-beyond-his-years style. The one that stood out for me was "Our edge is going to be consistency" - very clear, no doubts, and something that's achievable and historically lacking. There are still some things where he needs to change, or continue to learn - and that open him up to criticism and cause me to not fully trust him, to be honest. Two obvious examples being the contract length fake news argument - that it's just not a thing. Saying that doesn't make it true I'm afraid. And second, Ben Williams' response on injuries - I didn't like that at all for a number of reasons I went on about on the forum thread, but the summary would be: be careful of feeling superior or sharper to the people who support this team - you'd be surprised how many of the ones you consider boozy old codgers actually do understand 'science', 'data' etc - at least enough to know when you're using these shiny baubles to blow smoke up their arses. I also thought Nourry gave a minor grimace when JS (who did well) said 'This is the manager'. Experience of this past season, ongoing insecurity, gastric reflux - who knows. But overall a handful of things to get irritated or sceptical about and an equal or greater handful to feel positive about, I thought. [Post edited 31 Jul 13:39]

Something like that. Number of injuries vs number of people injured I think. 80% availablity 3 years ago, 91% 2 years ago, 83% last season, so when you average it out that's 88% over the last season so wtf are you moaning about? And it's all different to 15 years ago anyway you fat old c*nts, one day this will all belong to Christian and me and the Crypto influencers and you'll all be dead. |

We can have a discussion on that - all you had to do was ask. For someone who has been straddling TransAtlantic roles (apparently quite badly) and is now apparently back here I thought he genuinely looked fairly knackered. Not exactly putting his best foot forward now he's back, but that would.be fine if he gave good answers. However as I later said (which you didn't like at the time, fanboy) I thought the content of his first 3 answers was very poor. Also see above re patronising glossing over of actual issues last season - a bit like you've done. |

The question as asked was completely fine, nothing to add. I was fine at home but thanks for the call to arms. You have a bit of a Ben Williams fanboy feel to you - am putting you down as one of the new PR guard for now |

Which fact did you like most, the one where we had a good season fitness-wise, and he's sorry we didn't always get to see our "favourite players" like we're all 10? Or the one where there was nothing we could do about the injuries anyway, because they were non-muscle related and that's just the way it is (when the man most responsible spends most of his time elsewhere)? For balance, he did give a couple of better answers later on in terms of more detail on getting the most out of players. [Post edited 29 Jul 21:36]

I know I made a crack about William's appearance a minute ago, but wtf is he actually saying in either of his contributions? 2 word salads about plugging gaps and working synergistically, nothing about fitness, injuries, tangible things like that. I'm even more suspicious of and irritated by him than I was before and suspect he's basically Nourry's operational deputy these days, when he's not on aeroplane mode. [Post edited 29 Jul 20:17]

Ben Williams looks hungover or jet lagged, or possibly both |

The previous catering contract has now ended. There will be 'street food' options, more beer on draft, and beer prices are going down. Nourry is god. |

If they beat us (and/or beat us badly) we should laugh at their joy and remind them it's a meaningless game. If we somehow beat them it will still be a meaningless game, but a lot funnier. As always we've got other, bigger issues than Brentford. On that basis I'm quite looking forward to it. |

I'm not sure about far in advance stuff these days, but I suspect you should be ok - some ST holders will be away for Xmas, or not arsed depending on our fortunes. Twickets was the official reseller. It may still be: http://qpr.twickets.co.uk/ |

I wonder if Esquerdina was left out over his social media-ing around the Cardiff game? I fear Adamson might get pulverised as a left back, but I'm still not convinced we're going to look to get another one in. Thought Larkeche did ok. He's more of a wing back and the defence has to do a lot of shifting over when he goes forward, but I quite like him!* *I reserve the right to change that opinion if spends the next few weeks getting battered in actual games - hard to tell yet what impact that decent season in Dundee has had. |
 | Forum Reply | Rumarn Burrell at 10:06 27 Jul 2025
I think he's been briefed by Julie to play as much one touch as possible. Me-Julie said as match in the post match. Some of those didn't come off yesterday and people were getting frustrated but it's early days. But I still don't know how we incorporate Madsen's relative lack of mobility, Chair in that more central role (looked sharp I thought), and Morgan (or potential Eze money alternative) moving between the lines to switch things up. Feels like we've got 3 players doing two people's roles, but I'm not the manager thank god. |
