I fall all the time mate, my orthopaedic surgeon tells me it's a sign of good character. Just an example: Recently I walked all the way from home to O'Donoghues, sober as a judge, and decided to head in for one of their limited edition pre-game Guinnesses. While crossing the road I managed to trip on the kerb and found myself hurtling forward at rapid speed toward a group of Irish Sheffield Utd supporters who helpfully parted so I could ground both hands onto whatever solid cement thing near the door stopped my fall. This happens roughly every month one way or another. Today I smashed a lovely young woman in the face with a two way door. It was her or me probably. |

During this split second encounter did he seem like he may be on the verge of a big money move? |

Feel the same way, and we're Shirley not going to sign another decent CB to replace him at RB, so I worry about adding a reduced aerial presence next season to our other various ways of being lightweight. |

That was the only weird sort of negative for me from yesterday - Edwards was so good, and so important to us, but he isn't ours and won't be here next season. An Edwards sized hole in that team yesterday is not a small thing to sort out. |

What about the Nourry stuff? I feel under-informed in the last couple of days. You had that friend who played for a Scandinavian team whom I wouldn't mind hearing a bit more from - can he or she log in? It doesn't have to be real. |

It seems I've already done that though - for both of them. But it's all about opinions and I wouldn't be putting either of them in next season's starting 11 at this point. Madsen we know we've sunk money so that's either appealing to the Belgians, or a faint whiff of hope for us if we have to continue to develop him. And for Ashby it's felt to me like there was some sort of agreement in place all season. So far I'd send him back but thought he was good today overall. The only other thing I'd add is, I know from experience there are things that people see on the stream that those in the stadium don't pick up, but I had Ashby four rows in front of me all first half and thought he put in a far more focused, controlled performance than he has before from that perspective. Allowing for the fluffed goal chance yes, but that's a left back fcuking it up. If he had a worse second half than I realised fair enough but he looked ok I thought. [Post edited 12 Apr 19:57]

You seem to be in a dark mood, Brian. Not too positive on any of the potential positivity. |

He was good today. Did the simple things well, linked up nicely, no braindead moments that I remember, plenty of pace when he needs it, has an engine on him and kept going. I think that was the best I've seen him by quite a long way. |

That was beautiful. Very nearly killed him from a standing start - more of that Nico you mad bastard. I believe he also put in a tasty foul in the second half and got a talking to from that tit of a ref. He looks at his worst when he has a chance to press or challenge but doesn't, but there was much less of that today and a lot of decent things. I think one of his main strengths is he's able to play the less predictable, more incisive passes that a lot of other players, and people watching, don't immediately see. A few hints last couple of games that he may be learning to find the space and knowing when to do it. Hopefully it's not all too late. |

And that's 2004 prices - so roughly £68 a pint in today's money. |

Look it's very very obviously more than 4 or 5 supporters who have questions and concerns about him. That's just ignoring the reality. And I say that as someone who's voiced the idea that he might be able to learn from this season's errors. |
 | Forum Reply | Have we ever had a better loan than Ronnie Edwards? at 16:54 10 Apr 2025
Buzsaky was a loan initially wasn't he? What a player. What was that goal he scored at the loft end when he sorted of half volley chipped it over the keeper on a diagonal. Provoked a lot of discussion about whether or not he'd meant it ( which I thought he did). Possibly against Blackpool or Preston? On a more mundane note was Matt Connolly a loan at first too? Foggy memories of him being fantastic for us for a good while until about a year after we made him permanent and then he got injured and moved on. Something like that anyway. Ashby seems to be able to demonstrate a little microscosm of his game even when he only comes on for 10 mins. Wins it, gives it away, great speed and skill, cheeky wink to his team mate, gives it away, fakes an injury and makes a tit of himself, excluded from the pitch, final whistle. Looking forward to his next cameo. |

If that's all he had to say I wonder why he had his finger in Marti's face at the end? If it was about time wasting they had a total of 17 minutes added on. |

He had the sort of game last night I wish he'd had in early September. Looked like Oxford hadn't done their homework on him because he was given time and space, and not challenged physically for most of that first half. But he used the opportunity, which hasn't usually been the case and made a genuine contribution I thought. He struggled more in the second half but so did other areas of the team when we made enforced changes and they changed shape. I'd have called it promising, but Oxford were rank and its mid-April so at this point it's hard to get enthusiastic about him beyond that. |
