 | Your Report | Southampton v Arsenal Your Report added at 22:37:27 Played very well on the front foot for more than 70 minutes but then went defensive. It doesn't matter who you choose to blame on the playing side, it was a managerial decision that cost us the points! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Arsenal Your Report added at 22:37:23 Played very well on the front foot for more than 70 minutes but then went defensive. It doesn't matter who you choose to blame on the playing side, it was a managerial decision that cost us the points! |
 | Your Report | Everton v Southampton Your Report added at 20:32:24 We pay a lot of money to watch football, tickets travel etc.. not to mention ridiculously early starts and the whole day is ruined as soon as the team is announced, OK a defensive line up against City is acceptable but this was Everton FFS. We have reached the magic 12 points, another point doesn't make a lot of difference, so we had a free shot at winning a game? Today was another kick in the b*ll*cks to the fans, we play with Sulemana pretty much alone up front and keep banging the ball forward, I felt sorry for him on a hiding to nothing. Surely the tactics are dictated by who you are playing, yet we play the same way every game, just shuffle a very limited selection of the players available. Thought Leicester was piss poor but today showed our limitations in team selection, tactics and I'm sure some of the performances are down to being fed up with a system that limits any thoughts of being progressive. God I'm pissed off!!!! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Manchester City Your Report added at 20:54:39 decent point against a very expensive but risk free team. City just proved that Russ/Pepball is ineffective against a side that sits deep. We won no 50/50 decisions and battled well, thought Bree & Wellington were excellent considering who they were up against! This does absolutely nothing for next season but does get us above the magic number AND pisses off the mega-rich rule breakers, which is a massive bonus! |
 | Your Report | Leicester City v Southampton Your Report added at 09:25:54 Difficult to know where to start, anyone who has ever watched a low level Sunday morning game, with both sides hanging, would have seen a better game than this! El Crapico was spot on, two very poor teams, of which we were the worst! Our passing was dreadful, defending was non-existent (Vardy had time to go through the papers on his wife's court case & still have time for tea before scoring the first) and attack looked like something none of them understood. It seems to me that if we had appointed a new manager, after Juric, this bunch of no hopers would have destroyed his credibility, with the fans and hampered him prior to the rebuild that is so obviously required. SR's biggest problem now is trying to unload the dross, of which there is plenty and start again and if they don't get it right this time we could do a Luton! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Fulham Your Report added at 09:51:22 We look more like a team under Rusk , which has been recognised by the crowd. A decent atmosphere today seemed to help the players but it's obvious we are short of both confidence and ability throughout the side. We are desperately short up front, Ross Stewart looked short of match fitness but still occupied their back four yet we have little else. If Sulemana did some of his tricks and took risks further up the pitch he might start to fulfil his promise but currently he is also coming up short. Dibling is not very good defensively, which unfortunately is what he finds himself doing most of the time and we don't have anyone who can hold the ball up front, so it keeps coming back! Central midfield were excellent today but the same issue is no out ball and our best striker was KWP the right back! Simon Rusk has got them playing together but we don't look like we could ever get two goals to win a game! Looking forward to Wrexham and co next season, with hopefully a more competitive team! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Aston Villa Your Report added at 10:01:45 A reasonably good first half in terms of defence but oh dear as far as the forward line was concerned. Every ball out came straight back, no one bullied their CB's, who won't have an easier game all season. And a glance at the subs bench told us that this wouldn't change. Thought, as did most of us, that the ref was very poor and the incident with the free kick that wasn't given (Dibling had his back to the ref when he waived play on) proved that. Had it been given they wouldn't have scored the first. I also thought Jack got a little bit of the ball for the second penalty? |
 | Your Report | Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton Your Report added at 19:28:06 After setting up defensively at home against Palace, we go for an adventurous 4-3-3 away at Spurs? Too many gaps, too weak in the middle, toothless up front and pretty clueless throughout! Another record no one wants and looking odds on for another at this rate. A little bit of hope after Wednesday, completely obliterated today. No one really expected a victory but we had a right to hope for a performance! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Crystal Palace Your Report added at 00:25:27 Definitely looked better defensively & going forward but lost something when the defensive midfield went off. Tall Paul also gave us an out ball that disappeared when he went off. Bottom line is if we had set up as well defensively in the previous games there's no doubt we would have more points! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Wolverhampton Wanderers Your Report added at 21:24:04 they have no idea how to set up a matchday team and it was obvious today. a fair bit of attacking play early on but nobody on the end of it! two right backs, no striker? FFS can we not set up 4-4-2 with everyone in a position that is natural to them? We are the worst team in this division and only able to emphasise this we each game we play!! |
 | Your Report | Liverpool v Southampton Your Report added at 09:07:47 Under pressure from the start but thought Manning handled Salah well. Lacked any punch up front, without a striker. Sulemana played reasonably well but Tyler couldn't get into the game & was frequently doubled up on. We certainly looked better with a back four! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Newcastle United Your Report added at 11:25:43 With three of our only four genuine PL quality players injured we were always going to struggle in this game. We were very poor in transition, possibly due to a complete lack of pace and flair in team selection and still trying to move away from the style introduced by RM. Despite a large squad his choice is limited. We are very weak in the areas that really matter CM and up front and annoyingly I watched Archer pull out of three 50/50 challenges, which just pee'd me off a bit more. There is a need to, not only reduce the size of the squad but also dispose of all those that will not thrive in the PL, if we are lucky enough to come back up, we need to try to be better prepared, squad wise, for this. At the stadium I didn't think it was a pen but after MOD this morning can see that it probably was, although the fact it took so long to review it would question whether it was a clear and obvious error? I've never been a fan of VAR and have always believed it was introduced for the benefit of the broadcasting companies and offers nothing for the stadium viewer and would love to see it binned! |
 | Your Report | Manchester United v Southampton Your Report added at 09:48:57 Bowerclow, nothing wrong with Bree's game and he offered something going forward, which was part of the game plan. Nothing against Wood but Bree's performance didn't cost us the game. |
 | Your Report | Fulham v Southampton Your Report added at 22:03:50 A point away from home and clean sheet, a few more of these earlier would have lifted confidence. Perhaps too much long ball, particularly without a focal point up front. However we defended well, which is a great starting point! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Chelsea Your Report added at 10:15:40 Lets be honest if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot VAR picks up the slack. Its a pity because there were some good performances out there! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Liverpool Your Report added at 18:10:03 A reasonably good showing with the usual shoot ourselves in the foot moments. Onuachu showed he has the touch and ability to help us going forward. Got to feel a bit sorry for McCarthy, who pulled off some great saves but let himself down trying to comply with the ridiculous instruction to play out from the back, even so we could have let the first one go for a goal kick? If RM learns nothing from this game then he is a far more obstinate than he appears to be! |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Everton Your Report added at 19:26:48 Poor game between two average teams. We sit so deep that the gap between midfield and forwards is huge, which means Archer works his socks off for little reward. The stadium and game as a whole was given a massive lift with the introduction of Dibling and a couple of positive runs. Not sure why we played Manning as a winger when we have better alternatives, not belittling his contribution though. A worrying two minutes for the offside decision but we will need to make a big step up to remain in the PL. |
 | Your Report | Southampton v Leicester City Your Report added at 11:13:04 The second time we have lost an important game, by not marking at the edge, of the box is a big schoolboy error! When the opposition bring on a very tricky winger, surely you bring your best defender to look after him? Pretty p*ss poor refereeing didn't help but in the second half we didn't help ourselves either, I'm afraid we have a very soft underbelly, particularly when pressed. And whether RM is prepared to admit it, & I know I don't see them train, we have better players on the bench than on the pitch every game! |
