Saints Award Jack Stephens A 3 Year Contract.
at 09:49:51

Very odd. I love the bloke for his commitment, wearing the shirt means something to him but like others he makes me nervous when the ball is anywhere near our goal which is not a great feeling to have when discussing a defender.

This is odd to say the least. Rather than a playing contract maybe the club could have offered him a coaching one which would have been cheaper but retained his services off the pitch if that is where he adds genuine value.

Everton Are Told By Southampton The Price For Tyler Dibling

This speaks volumes about modern football and rolling sports news. He's had a few decent games for saints months ago Nd already he's a world beater worth tens of millions of pounds. Boring, souless and bshite

Saudi Arabian Billionaire Interested In Buying Southampton
at 21:40:11

As they all said above. Football has died a slow multi billion cuts death over the last 20 years or so and as much as saints are a symptom of that by being a top division side for much of that time I'm not interested in being directly implicated via a transparently dodgy billionaire owner. Man city/PSG and their ilk are everything that is utterly detestable about the world in general and football club ownership in general.

Sports Republic have got every big call wrong since they took over but they seem to be attempting to put in long term infrastructure now and it's a positive step again making a managerial appointment this early. The only sale I'd like to see is SR selling their other football interests and focusing solely on the Saints.

Southampton Apparently Not Up For Sale At ÂŁ125 Million
at 22:51:43

Sports Republic have messed up every big call on the managerial front and with few exceptions on the playing front too.

We do seem to be an easy touch for the big teams to buy our players with the low point being the mid 2010s when we sold Lambert, llanna, clyne, lovren and a few others one season and then another handful the following summer. JRod only stayed as he got badly injured. That was galling to say the least as an average Leicester won the league a few years later.

However I think nowadays the big teams generally look overseas to proven international talent rather than premiership talent at the likes of our potential peers ie boscombe, Brentford Brighton etc. ok they sell the odd player to bigger teams but not on the scale that we did in the past.

However, now that changes have been made at board level this should mean there is a proper strategy and someone making decisions based on evidence rather than the lucky dip of the last couple of years. Therefore sports Republic deserve at least one more season to prove they can recruit a decent manager and provide him with the correct playing staff to fit his ideas.

If they get it wrong again.....I don't really want to think about that COYRs

The Odds Are Out On The Next Southampton Manager

It'll be Gerrard as sports Republic are clueless. They'll see him as a big name and ignore his record.

The club would be better off as a fan owned entity instead of sports retarded

The Time For Managerial Change At Southampton Is Now
at 15:23:12

I thought at the time they should have stuck with Simon Risk as he showed some nous lacking in the the last 3 or 4 manager appointees by sports direct (better the devil you know etc) but of course sports direct know best. It's time for them to go back to playing their games in the lower leagues of Europe and leave our club alone.

Who Had Heard Of Pochettino ! As Saints Fans Question New Manager's Credentials

Not bothered what language he speaks as long as he is a reasonably decent manager. Seems like a bigger gamble than some of the other names mentioned but we're not exactly the most beautiful girl in the night club - to borrow Joey Bartons analogy on question time

If we had a maverick genius in the team capable of winning on his own he'd be dropped and sold.

One of the few positives of Lowe's legacy is 'north London yobbos ' which he used to refer to spuds when they put in a derisory bid for deano

Is Russel Martin’s Priority Southampton FC Or His Own Agenda
at 09:03:02

I don't think there is a conspiracy Nick he just isn't too canny. Aside from his adherence to a system that does not work look at his team selections and substitutions. Why have we played 3 keepers this season (apart from the injury), why do players come out from the cold then get dropped again, why do players who should start get benched and players who shouldn't be in the starting 11 regularly start. I just don't think he knows what he is doing. Which is bad for saints as the opposition usually do. Think the Bournemouth game when their manager said post match they knew what saints were going to do and therefore went into a quick 3-0 lead.

I agree with the principle of not changing managers at every difficult period but we are breaking records for failure and it is difficult to see how the loop will break with SR and RM in charge.

It would be helpful if the custodians of our club explained their rationale for what their strategy and mid term plans are, including why they are sticking with RM despite the lack of positive results and improving performances.

Southampton At Aston Villa The Verdict
at 23:01:08

It's good to have healthy debate and opposing views and respect for any reasoned argument. I think the flaw in any potential plan involving saints and RM yo-yoing relies on having some consistency in terms of team selection and an element of learning from mistakes which RM just has not done and in terms of team selections he doesn't do.

We were very lucky to come up this season and the big twist in the season was the injury the GK which forced RM to change his approach for the last few games and importantly the final v Leeds. We still rode our luck including Leeds hitting the bar and saints almost playing into trouble several times in the first half.

When we go down we'll likely lose several of our better players, it's hard to say how many, and we'll be at the mercy of sport republics punting transfer lottery - which has had mixed results - that's being generous.

So we'll start next season with RM trying to get several new entrants indoctrinated into his system which will go bring the same issues we currently have.

Sports Republic are not going to buy the finished article in key positions and RM isn't going to change his ideas. Sounds like checkmate on terms of any chance of progress.

The least they can do is speak to the fans about their motivations because this element is showing their lack of class, which has never been on show this far in their time at the helm.

I genuinely cannot see how the club progress with sports republic in charge of the club.

Southampton V Liverpool The Verdict
at 23:59:07

The talent will go when we get relegated as SR will cash in. Then they'll spend the money on 10 speculative signings a few of whom might make an impression. However the majority will contribute nothing much beyond a bloated squad which RM will cause RM his usual and random selection issues.

It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at the meetings between RM and SR.

Saints Not Afraid Of Sacking Russell Martin Even If They Have To Pay
at 09:26:09

Agree with the sentiments above - sports republic are capable of making any situation worse. Whilst they own the club we're nothing more than a crèche for other clubs. Although they haven't shown any signs of buying one player of notable quality who would turn them a quick buck.

Unfortunately the likes of Marcus only come along once if you're lucky. We were very very lucky to have him.

Sports Republic, or more appropriately sports direct, are the issue. May as well keep RM as any change they make will probably sideways at best.

We were very fortunate that Markus Lieberr was our owner at a critical time for the club and we're unlikely to have someone like him take over again but surely there has to be someone out there who wishes to invest in a club with our potential and manage it progressively and with a modicum of ambition for on pitch success.
