 | News Comment | Danny Rohl Turns Down Rangers And Stirs Up Southampton Rumours at 13:23:29
If £5 million was to much to pay in compo for Rohl then surely the huge amount they would have to pay Will Still would also be a no no Didn't Rohl say he wanted a Premier league club? November is coming up so he may get one of the 3 vacancies that will appear theng |
 | News Comment | Constant Re-Shuffling Is The Cause Of Southampton's Problem's at 15:55:55
RM got stick for not utilising his squad WS drops those who make mistakes and gets stick RM got stick for trying to hang on to a one goal lead WS goes for it in the last 20 minutes and gets stick After8 games two years ago we had 10 points and got promoted in the most exciting way After 8 games this season we again have 10 points The differenc is that this year no club is running away with the league like Leicster and Ipswich did 2 years ago |
 | News Comment | Will Still Appears To Have Decided Loanee Has No Future At St Mary's at 16:05:10
Benyali If you ask am I 100% happy then no and like all supporters, not only Saints fans,we never wi be I would much have preferred Ankersun to run us rather than our Turkish sister club because he was the brains behind Brentford I genuinely believe that we need stability Three years minimum without changing the manager is a must Just look east for a prime example During their struggles last season they stuck with him whereas we would have been demanding a change. |
 | News Comment | Will Still Appears To Have Decided Loanee Has No Future At St Mary's at 11:27:12
The one thing I am fed up with is the constant knocking of everything SR do, everything Spors does and everything Will Stiill does Regardless of where we finish in the league this season we need to keep the current non playing team in place.I don't want to go back to the PL until we have had 2/3 seasons in the Championship and had a chance to build a team capable of staying there Last season was the most embarrassing of my 60 years of supporting Saints and I have no wish to repeat it Having followed his career over the last 5 years I genuinely believe that Will can eventually deliver a consistent team that will be a pleasure to watch One that is based on attacking pacey football On the subject of recruitment neither right back has set themselves to become a fixture in the team Edwards looks a much better option Azazz,Scienza,Fellows all look useful The big doubt is D Downes Only time with a fair bit of trial and error will answer that³ |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Derby County The Verdict at 11:05:42
Alex getting the MotM says it all really Was 3 games in 8 days too much for our young guns in the back line? Just when we thought we may have a talismanic striker who,by trying so hard, does a ham string Minimum 6 to 8 weeks out.Perhaps 3 in 8 was too much for him as well You can't blame the coach because he surely is guided by the team of physios we have. They are constantly monitoring the squad and would alert the manager of any potential problems. At the end of the day we have 5 points from 3 games It is the equivalent of win your home games and draw your away games. That is a winning formula at any level Talk of sacking Will Still is absolutely ridiculous Do we want a third consecutive season of having 3 managers? We should learn from Watford who are probably the only other club to have had as many managers as us.Done them a lot of good hasn't it |
 | News Comment | Depth Of Southampton Squad Is Will Still's Problem at 11:41:17
We are privileged to be watching a new Saints team evolve Charles is certainly a nailed on starter but after the last 3 matches he has definitely been joined by Wood,Stewart,Fellows,Edwards and Jander I have never known a manager who makes the same substitutions as the fans would. Against Sheff Utd he subbed Fellows off and Fraser on because he needed to make our left side harder to play against He chose to do that by doubling up on that side And it worked Remember with subs that all players wear GPS vests and their fitness levels are being constantly monitored This is a vital tool especially in the championship with games coming thick and fast |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Sheffield United The Verdict at 12:16:54
Yes there is as always work to do However you could see and feel the belief coming into that team Please Will don't go back to the old guard unless fatigue or discipline requires it |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Middlesbrough The Verdict at 17:34:27
I think your summary is a bit over critical Nick and comes across as the first salvo in a Will Still out campaign. What this club needs is at least 3 and preferably 5 years of stability. Will could possibly give us that unless he becomes very successful and then a Sky 6 club will take him We didn't like Martin picking his favourites We didn't like tippy happy We expected championship players to survive in the PL Will has, or is working on,changing these things Give him time and support |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Hull City The Verdict at 19:25:10
How can any level headed supporters want to sack Will Still This guy is a student of the game and I trust him to repair, refresh and regenerate this squad I can easily tell him what he is doing wrong. We all can We wanted a back 4 We got it We wanted to stop tippy happy He's of the same mind Many questionsed Armas place in the team now We want him in We wanted a tall No 9 We had one on Saturday The Liverpool game is a free hit Get rid of the JS/THB partnership We have a big squad so alternatives are available Nobody should be a shoe in |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Hull City The Preview at 17:47:42
If we can get a win in either of our next two fixtures the we will get to the eight match stage with at least the same number of points as the last time we were here. What we then need is another 23 match unbeaten run |
 | News Comment | Will Still Says Players Have To Get Out Of Bad Habits From Previous Systems at 17:22:34
Anyone listening to the Will Still press conference will quickly hear that this guy knows what he is doing. He wasn't particularly critical of any individual but more concerned with helping them all to accept a different system. It took RM 2 months plus to accept his system and this may even take a tad longer I remain confident that we have a coach who's determined and capable of giving us a great future |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Portsmouth The Verdict at 13:46:34
The last time we were in the Championship we had 9 points from the first 8 games so no need to panic Very unfair to criticise Will at this stage He still has an oversized squad, seven players that he has only met twice not to mention a shell shocked ex Premier league squad. We must give him the whole of his contract to get us back into the crooked PL The club needs stability Is it 7 full time managers in 30 months ? That must change starting now As for the game yesterday you would be hard pushed to find 11 good players from the whole of both squads Mousing has proved that he is the right man for the Skates In one breath he said Will blanked him and the next he said he had him in his left ear the whole match I sit just behind the tech areas in Block 8 Will stayed at the end of his area furthest from the Pompey area Probably scared of catching something In the second minute the skate refused to pick up the ball for one of his players to take a throw in so Will stepped forward (not onto the pitch) and threw the ball to the Pompey player The skate objected and the ref intervened What's more the skate coaches took it in turns to harrange the 4th official all through the game The ref never intervened Then at the end he grabbed Wills hand and wouldn't let go Like I say typical skate |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Portsmouth The Preview at 14:11:02
I don't remember being this apprehensive about a game for a long time.Hopefully the electric atmosphere won't over excite any of the Saints players and lead to a red NB Flynn Downes Of the new signings probably only 2 of them will be in the starting 11 Roeslev and Azaz but on the hour mark I expect to see wholesale changes using the newbies The starting team I expect :- Baz Romsey THB Stevens Manning Charles F Downes Armstrong Azaz Fraser Archer Enjoy the occasion everyone and stay safe |
 | News Comment | Will Still Says He Will Have Full Squad For Pompey Game at 13:28:16
We undoubtedly have the better players but they have possibly got the better team right now We are in the very early stage of a massive transition and they have the benefit of only trying to integrate the newbies into a well tried and tested system |
 | News Comment | Does The M27 Derby Mean As Much To the Players As The Fans at 11:53:05
Social media being what it is all players will be very aware of what this means to the fans Our passion for it will be infectious and combined with the stadium atmosphere will gee them up to be the best version of themselves that they can be |
 | News Comment | Countdown To The Date With The Skates at 19:53:59
Undertheweststand You are correct about the Southampton dockers in the 50's It stemmed from a pre war strike by Southampton workers The employers bussed in Pompey dockers to break that strike. So in the 50's it was an act of revenge In the 70's Sothampton dockers refused to take ferry traffic (Channel Islands)from Porsmouth but later Pompey took ferry traffic (Santander) from Southampton This hieghtened the competive sprit, and in many cases, hatred felt between the two places |
 | News Comment | Countdown To The Date With The Skates at 10:06:35
Luv it Nick Just Luv it There is no more bitter a rivalry in the country And for good reason As a solid leftie I detest being called a scummer I hated the way they booed during the minutes silence for Ted Bates I once officiated at a Pompey youth game and was subjected to abuse before, during and after the match because Southampton was next to my name in the programme Believe me I would of had a party had they folded a few years ago |
 | News Comment | Will Still Can Now Wing It In Formation Change at 13:21:32
Careful Nick You may be turning into a headline writer Will made his name by playing 4-2-3-1 although it is not written in stone He will change, adapt from game to game as well as in the 90 minutes.Im not even sure he will put out what we would consider to be his best 11 to start the next game We must be patient and allow him time to experiment Even if it doesn't work from the off we must not start calling for his head It would be good to go back up this year but if it doesn't happen DON’T change the coach |
