Yes, the Armstrong comparison is very valid. If he ends up signing I think there's the potential for a similar profit in a couple of seasons.

I'm a Colchester United season ticket holder who also hangs around here because I used to follow Rangers home and away before moving to Colchester and having kids who I took to watch the local team.

So let me tell you about Samson, which is pretty much as Aston has said. The kid is strong and powerful and gives centre halves a torrid time. He is also still quite raw and gets into trouble with the crap refs we have in L2 (even worse than the Championship) because he does allow those same centre halves to get under his skin. Most of his yellow cards, and he gets quite a few, come from these sort of tussles or his reaction to them.

He's quick and direct, the link is to his best goal of last season v Port Vale...

Him being a work in progress shows in the fact that his finishing can be a bit erratic, not surprising given his age, but if he continues to develop he'll hopefully put some of that right. But he is also a decent passer of the ball and had a reasonable assist total. If Stephan is going to play 2 up top he would be ideal in the second striker role but he can also be the hold up forward in a one.

His injury issues are a concern. It's partly as a result of how he plays but I think if he's well managed that can be overcome.

He's not out of contract though, he's signed through to 2026, so Rangers will need to pay. Our Chairman is pragmatic though. Hell want a reasonable up front fee but, like the Poku deal, he'll be happy with decent add ons and a sell on clause. Also Tovide and Poku know each other.

Colchester are resigned to him going so hopefully he ends up at Lotus Road.

Not sure there's anything in then being ahead of us in pre-season.

This is their first friendly and their season starts two weeks after ours.

London lad, albeit South of the River, with a very close family. That might have something to do with it.

Very much an inverted winger though. Plays off the right but all left foot. Talented kid.

What CM would you want?
at 11:13 27 May 2025

If you want a DM to sit, break up play, pass the ball on top others who can do something with it and who may week give you resale value in future then go to Forest and make them an offer for Jamie McDonnell. If they won't sell take him on loan.

21, tackles like it's the 1970's and doesn't try to over play. We had him at Colchester last season and he was out best loan signing in years. Won Young Player of the Season, could easily have been the outright Player of the Season and we'd love him back but he's far too good for L2.

Heading To Gelsenkirchen Next Weekend- Eng v Serbia.
at 10:21 10 Jun 2024

I presume you're hiring the car in Holland. You'll need to see if it comes with a German environmental sticker, a green sticker, which you may need if you are driving into Gelsenkirchen.

Worth a few minutes googling to check.

Shots on target
at 14:09 11 May 2023

I didn't see the Bristol game. I think it depends if there are defenders/keeper beyond the player making the block. It only counts as a SoT if the defender is the last man.

I agree though that some of them are incomprehensible.

The stats people class a shot blocked on the line by an outfield player as a shot on target, so the Dickie blocks would have counted.

Apologies if already posted...

Not up to Clive standards obviously.

Interesting at the end as to how the coaches are divided up amongst the players.

The ball wasn't played back to the corner taker though. The corner was taken by Insigne to Berardi who played the ball back Jorginho. Then before Jorginho could play a pass the flag was raised.

I was going to ask PinnerPaul myself whether it was because Berardi was off the pitch when the corner was taken and re-entered to received the ball...

"An attacking player may step or stay off the field of play not to be involved in active play. If the player re-enters from the goal line and becomes involved in play before the next stoppage in play, or the defending team has played the ball towards the halfway line and it is outside its penalty area, the player shall be considered to be positioned on the goal line for the purposes of offside."

Does that over-ride the "can't be offside from a corner" rule?

Germany I would guess depends on your definition.

Lumping together West Germany and the unified Germany we're level. Treating them individually and the unified Germany have a better head to head record.

Bonne signs - Official!

Col U fans think of him as the one that got away, but when he was trying to get into the team it was when they were playing one up top and he seemed to always play wide, which isn't his game.
Playing on the shoulder of Dykes should suit him and service shouldn't be an issue. I really want to see him do well because he's a good character who won't fail from lack of effort.

Their first home game is behind closed doors. Fans can only be admitted to 22 home games as it stands.
