Rare positivity
at 16:02 14 Aug 2025

I thought it was very refreshing the way WS slung on all those attacking players against Wrexham. Too many managers over-complicate the game and are too rigid with their "playbook", so it was good to have someone go fvck this, it's not working, let's try this.

I was pretty positive about the season anyway (what's the point otherwise ffs) and agree we'll be right up there. Key game in lots of ways on Sunday.

Saints allegedly put Smallbone on sale for £8m
at 08:57 14 Aug 2025

At the end of Smallbone's successful loan to Stoke 3 seasons ago, there was a lot of talk about him leaving us permanently; we had just got relegated and he only had a year left on his contract. Loads on here were in uproar saying he's exactly the type of player we need in the Championship, we shouldn't be selling someone with proven quality, he's one of our own blah blah blah.

In the end he stayed an was given a new contact and everyone was happy. He ended up being a useful squad player for us and contributed to getting us promoted, including scoring the all important first goal in the play off semi.

Back in the Prem last season he of course struggled, like many of the other Championship standard players we have in our squad did, but why hate on him so much? It just shows how many clueless drippy fans we have that moan for the sake of it.

5 Things About Northampton
at 12:09 13 Aug 2025

We got home at 11.45pm. A34 diversion was pretty straight forward and only added an extra 10 minutes or so to the journey.

Sat Nav's are proper crap...I always use Google Maps to check routes now as far more accurate and reliable.

I'm sorry pal, but you don't know what you're going on about. That link is from the 2004 game at theirs I mentioned originally when they smashed up their own city. We were all locked in the ground for a good hour and a half afterwards whilst that was going on, so no Saints fans were involved.

Got any other examples you can Google? I'm pretty sure only the 2011/2012 season was a bubble between us so you should have plenty of fixtures to choose from...

So should our games with Millwall this season be bubbles as well then? If what you say is true, that sounds much worse than anything I've ever seen or heard the skates doing at ours, despite there only ever been one bubble meeting with them previously. Why haven't Pompey fans thrown bottles at innocent Saints fans en masse whilst freely roaming around the city with no police?

"If Pompey fans were free to arrive at St Mary's whenever they wanted, they would probably smash up the city."

All football matches are policed accordingly, so large scale disorder is incredibly rare nowadays. Those that go by train get wrapped up by the old bill every step of the way, so it's just hysterical to say they'll be mobs of fans running around smashing up the city. The only occasion that's happened in the last 30 odd years was when we played them at theirs in 2004 and the thick tw@ts smashed up their own city.

There's plenty of games where there's the potential of disorder or being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, so where do you draw the line? Both Millwall and Cardiff were particularly lively at ours the season before last, so should our games with them be bubbles from now on?

...and no-one's going to attack families or regular people going about their own business. That just doesn't happen.

From this post I take it you've never been to a derby game before?

A bubble completely takes away what a proper derby day is all about imo. The build up and anticipation of having 2000-3000 of them descend on your city or the camaraderie you experience heading down to theirs is a feeling you simply cannot replicate. I think I've only missed one Pompey game since I started going and the combination of nervous energy and excitement for each and every one of those games is something I'll never forget.

I don't expect everyone to understand that opinion or feeling, but it's the edge of being in the pubs and walking to and from the ground that makes derby days so special for me....and of course winning.

Key Dates In 2025/26 Season For Saints Supporters
at 18:14 29 Jul 2025

Could of been much worse…not had it too bad here imo. Three were evening games anyway so ko times have only been put back 15-30 mins and 2 are home games, so not the end of the world having 12.30 Saturday ko’s. Only aways affected are Charlton and Norwich, with Charlton being a piece of piss to get to in plenty of time for a booze up still.

I’m alright with those selections all things considered.

Measles and vaccination
at 16:55 28 Jul 2025

..but lies were told and on an unprecedented scale. Some people could see through that and began to question the whole thing, whereas the vast majority were understandably scared and desperate to do exactly what they were being told.

You were happy to have your vaccine straight away and felt protected by that which is great, but to demonise those who chose to be cautious and take the line that the virus wasn't a threat to their demographic, was wrong imo.

Measles and vaccination
at 15:36 28 Jul 2025

It's quite simple - vaccines in general are predominately a really good thing, however everyone has the right to chose whether they want one. You're entering very dangerous territory if you think a Government should have the power to make such things mandatory and start excluding non-participants from society.

Ever since Covid, I've found it thoroughly depressing that there's so many sanctimonious people out there that think they're better citizens for behaving exactly how their Government have told them to. Some of the lies told during the pandemic to get everyone to conform were shocking, not just by Governments worldwide, but by the WHO and other health organisations, so you cannot blame some people for being sceptical now.

What's right for one person is not necessarily what's right for another and that can be for a multitude of reasons. To show such disdain and hatred towards someone that thinks or wants to do things differently from yourself is becoming more prevalent in our society and is very ugly imo.

…or, what about when you hear the forecast on the BBC before you go out and it says a torrential downpour is imminent. Being so well informed, you put your raincoat on and umbrella up when you leave the house and sure enough, it starts to piss it down as soon as you step outside. Instead of being grateful you’re keeping dry, you prefer to smugly sneer at the few thickos who didn’t heed the warning and are getting wet, only to then get struck by lightning and die…

Ipswich away tickets
at 10:22 23 Jul 2025

I didn't even know there was such a thing as an away season ticket. If that is the case, I don't think much our the clubs marketing department considering I've probably missed more home games than aways over the last few seasons..
