I agree with saintBob....Fox is currently the better left back....but the assist stat will soon have to stop as Harding can not add to his stats if he isnt playing!!! Fox is never any where near the winger to block crosses but luckily has 2 good centre backs to head crosses away! Harding at Pompey was a mistake but then so was Hammond, Morgan, Lallana etc giving the ball away in midefield on numerous occasions this season leading to goals....does this mean they constantly get reminded of it...no. Any way rant over....Fox is marginally better than Harding but this is an area that may need improving if we reach the prem as Fox is gonna get battered by prem standard wingers. PS Hoilveld is best CB since lundekvam/svensson. COYRs!!!

What I find funny that spending a large amount on a player = ambition. Is it not best to look for quality rather than just show everyone how much money we have? I am not saying these 2 we have got aren't a gamble but every transfer or manager appointment is a gamble! I think the more you pay the bigger the gamble. Yes money should mean more quality but look how chaplow, hoilveld, and I am sure there are others that havent cost much but have made a real impact. And that is what it is about. Who will come in and make an impact not who costs the most.

Am I mistaken or is this our best start to a league season for 100 odd years?! Anyway...I will quit living in the passed. It seem unlikely that anybody can write unbiased articles about a team they support. The article has some valid points regarding Gk and individual errors...but most goals conceded can be attributed to individual or collective errors...other than 30 yard bullets...and even then people say the player should be closed down quicker!!! And I doubt there is a better keeper available than KD at the moment for NA to go and get...Lets just all get a life and enjoy the moment...cause you never know you may keel over tomorrow or the club could flirt with liquidation...or has that already nearly happened to us??? I am unsure.

Yeah not sure what the first post was about. We all disagree with Nick sometime or another but this report seems fair. Nick had said some positive things above. It is going to be interesting how we respond when we get beaten but Nigel appears to be so positive all the time i think we will be ok. What a great time to be a Saints fan! Enjoy this period in our club history! COYRs

Agree that Cork is going to be a very good player! Well worth the money! I agree that the Goalkeeper area may need a bit of a re-think as I am not sure Bart will be the answer but for now Kelvin is fine.

I don't think that the 2 wobbly defensive moments are anything to actually be too worried about...against Barnsley it lasted about 8mins and against Ipswich 15mins...so out of 180mins of football plus injury time we have suffered 23-25 mins of wobbly defence...yes I know it can cost points but this usually happens to every team at some point in a game where they are under some pressure. Think Saints to get in a muddle at times but this is why we love them : )

Thought Harding played well...although could have cleared the 2nd off the line ; )

Nick....I agree with you in some respects. Harding has weakness when he faces pace and sometimes struggles to stop crosses...but you need to articulate these because for every 3 errors he had made I can name 6 positive things he has done and therefore get into a merry go round of opinion. I have no doubt that fox will become the left back and Harding a cabable back up. But please be more open when picking holes in the team. Every player in every team in every league has a weakness...unfortunately for harding he has obs made errors in your opinion that outweigh his plus points.
Keep up the articles though as they stimulate lively debate which is great!

I think that Nick, it will be a whole team effort if we are to achieve promotion. Adkins is without doubt a competent manager and like every manager he needs his transfers to come off, instill motivation and have a degree of luck. I for one think this will be one of the best passing teams in the championship this year and I wish sometimes, as saintBob and 1teaminhants have pointed out, you do say some rather embarassing things at times...like reeves and mills can be considered in contention for a first team place...Mills is often loaned out and is obviously trying to be moved on...and Reeves is young and rarely features on the bench. I am sure in the next 2 years he will be released or farmed out on loan as Mills has been.

Adkins seems to opt to sign players who can play in various positions so that we have a wide range of cover and depth. Harding is by no means a first class full back...but get real...we are a championship club and will find it hard to get better than Dan Harding....oh hang on maybe Ashley Cole is available (and even he has his footballing weaknesses!)

And PS...can we plug the 'score a goal David Connolly' chant to the tune of Mrs Robinson (last sung for Neil Shipperley) as he doesn't seem to like the back from the dead chant! Cheers Nick.
