Worst flight is probably coming home from Greece after a family holiday in 1990. Very turbulent and 100 mph headwinds meant we had to make an unscheduled fuel stop in Munich. Not allowed off the plane and stuck on the tarmac for about 2 hours before taking off again and completing the journey. To this day it’s my only time on German soil although I never got to actually touch it.
Worst journey overall was on a direct train from Inverness to London about 10 years ago. Delays all the way down and a power outage meant no lights and aircon in our carriage. 12 hours for the most part in a packed, dark, stifling hot smelly train carriage with no openable windows. Oh and the restaurant car was out of service too so no refreshments. Think I might have been given a free bottle of water at some point and I did get a full refund of about £80 in rail fare tokens.
That train journey on the way back from Plymouth last season was pretty desperate too although at least we had beer.
There’s quite an entertaining YouTuber called Wandering Turnip who makes videos about all sorts of things including service stations. He describes it much better than I ever could.
I stopped there on the way home from the Lake District earlier in the year and was impressed. Another good one on the M6 was Stafford services.
Alan Smith. I've got fond memories of him getting the "he's got a fcking big nose" treatment playing for Arsenal at our place once. I was standing in the east paddock terrace with an Arsenal fan mate who thought it was hilarious.
Sounds like you just need to get a new card. They do wear out after a while. Same about using phone for payments I'd rather not. Jumpers for goalposts etc!
It is a great name and it was quite funny when he came on Saturday. Think there was a flurry of subs from both teams, followed by the standard “who?” from both sets of fans. Then they announced “Esquerdinha” and all we got from the away end was a stifled “huh” followed by muttering.
There’s a book I’m reading at the moment called “Season” which is about life and the highs and lows of supporting a football team throughout a single campaign. Instead of using player’s names the author George Harrison (not that one) calls them by nationality, the Argentinian, the Norwegian, the Dutchman, etc. It‘s a fairly sedate easy going read so far.
Anyway back to Eat-ya-dinners shooting. More please and preferably into the goal next time.
Will Smallbone who just signed from Saints on-loan to Millwall could be a bit of a shrewd sone. Seem to remember him being decent although he doesn’t seem to have played a lot of football for a 25 year old.
I also remember being impressed with Sydie Peck when Sheffield Utd played at LR last season. Doesn’t seem to have had a great start this season though.
Hayden we basically know what we’re getting and if we can keep him fit then he should be good. I’ve been quite surprised by all the positive reviews of RND after his first match and will be interested to see if it lasts.
