We played with 8 defensive minded players and 3 attacking minded players last night. Easily overrun in the midfield in the second half. The system doesn’t suit and Still persists with it. I’m sick and tired of hearing about trauma and last season and all the other nonsense. He obviously doesn’t know what trauma is.. 3 centre backs leaves us short in midfield and one less skilful user of the ball. We bought players to change the psychology and they sit on the bench. We are not drilled, let alone well drilled. We lack quality chances created giving a misleading statistics and our decision making is poor. We don’t stop crosses from coming in and switch off leaving opponents unmarked, so what is the point anyway in having so many defenders on the pitch? It’s so easy to give us the ball and wait for one of our too many clumsy defenders on the pitch to screw up and concede a goal. Sadly these are basics and we can’t get the basics right. The calm mentality the players are told to adapt removes any hunger, desire and aggression from the mindset and one goal kick from McCarthy epitomised that. He lazily took the kick and wouldn’t have looked out of place if her have fallen over and gone to sleep after kicking it. This guy should be running out of his box pointing and screaming at players but he leans against the post, chewing gum etc. These grown men paid tens of thousands a week to play football need a rocket up their arses and need to man up! Spill some blood for the shirt and leave the bullshit trauma behind, it’s pathetic. But the truth is they lack all this and the belief because they are poorly led and this is because the manager is out of his depth, as are Sports Republic. Until they go, we will be stuck in Championship or League 1 obscurity. The happy clappers really need to wake up and smell the roses. The aim for the end of the season was promotion, not stability, that just shows how deep the malaise and negativity runs. Still us the wrong man, sadly. |

I’m expecting 7 at the back and 3 in midfield as this manager has bottled playing an attacking formation with his 60 million of new assets sat on the bench while persisting with someone up top who wasn’t good enough to get in West Brom’s team earlier this year. So disappointed with how he keeps setting us up. He is the one shackling us and perpetuating the so called trauma. Utterly ridiculous, getting paid 50k a week to play football and he calls it trauma! This is a weak minded outlook and it’s November next week, no more excuses, he must play an attacking formation with one of if not the strongest squad in the league. Time is up. |

Still doesn’t have a philosophy, this is a problem for building a style of play that players can get used to. It’s no wonder they look lost most of the time. I don’t expect him to pick the right formation or personnel so I am not expecting an easy game or a win. You can say all you want about Armstrong hitting form, 2 games ago he missed with an awful penalty and his team play has been terrible, constantly losing possession. He wasn’t good enough for West Brom last season so I’m not surprised to see our position in the league when we are utilising players who are mid table championship players, which is what most of our squad is. We haven’t replaced Ings or Adams and have gambled with cheap options which have unsurprisingly backfired. Playing Stewart at Derby was plain stupid after 2 intense games in 3 days. Surely we didn’t buy Scienza, Azaz and Fellows for the bench? Our real problem is playing 3 at the back, it doesn’t work, it’s negative and gives the oppo the midfield domination. Still is clueless so far, I hope this changes quickly. |

I can’t disagree with any of the points in this article and in some ways that is quite damning. I think we need to see how the next week goes, where we should be looking at 7 points minimum, probably 9. We do have the strongest looking squad but too much quantity. We should have paid the money for Spertsyan but as with the Rohl payoff, we’d rather waste our money on gambles. Now we are also, desperately, a striker short. |

I don’t see why you would give any manager 2 years despite results. I like Still the person, but I don’t see a blueprint or much logic in his decisions or set up. We keep playing 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs which is a counter attacking system, not possession and domination. We have not been good at pressing and he has dropped Archer after ge scored a couple of goals and looked sharp. I am yet to see any signs that Still has a plan. Our recruitment is half good half woeful as we continue to sign players who are not good enough and then freeze out a player who has looked the part in the game he played. So I am very confused as to the pathway forwards and I personally don’t see that changing. I hope Still proves me wrong. Also we would have to pay him a load in compensation so we may as well have paid off the Owls in the first place. Unfortunately our club is run by clowns. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Sheffield United The Verdict at 11:38:18
Fellows fell victim of the problem we had on the other side of the pitch where Manning and Armstrong gave us no width in attack, this meant the blades could doubt up on Fellows. Stewart dug Armstrong out of a hole last night, as mentioned before the game, how many opportunities win be missed before Armstrong gets a goal, last night showed that. Why is he still taking the penalties when he keeps missing them? Stewart should take them. The best player in the last 3 games has been, without a doubt, Jander.. what a fantastic player we have managed to grab there.. he didn’t even get a mention by the total saints podcast on Sunday so I don’t know what games they watched..? He is the difference maker in the midfield, what a player. My frustration with Manning playing as a left wing back boiled over as he gave us absolutely nothing in attack. A good left back but clueless with the ball at his feet in the oppos half and this will be to our detriment moving forward. He hasn’t once got to the byline or made a run inside and that is the purpose of wing backs when attacking. Not his fault, a good left back but not a wing back by any stretch. McCarthy although someone I struggle to see as a solid keeper, nearly gave away a goal because of dithering with the ball at his feet but he pulled off a wonder save from OHare in the second half after the defence switched off from a free kick. Assume Fraser is being punished for gobbing off about his team mates after the Hull game, why can’t he keep his mouth shut!!? Wasn’t that why Eddie Howe wanted him gone from Bournemouth? We don’t need that sort of retraction from our desire to win games and finish top 2. This has to be addressed and squashed immediately or he can train with the kids imo. Overall a better look in the last 2 games and a relief to see Stewy find his feet. |

Not too sure what games you’ve been watching but a fortnight ago, Archer was the key after scoring 2 in 2. Armstrong has not been anywhere near where his best was and he was, in my opinion, appalling on Saturday until the wonderful finish. Could we have been 2 or 3 up if someone else was on the pitch and used the ball well. Armstrong was at times greedy but certainly his decision making has been woeful of late. I think if Scienza had started or Robinson, we would have been out of sight by the time we did score. I suppose that is the dilemma, Armstrong will score goals but how many opportunities will he waste for himself and others before he nets? I thought Jander was our best player and hopefully he’s got the energy to play tonight too. I would also bring Downes back in for Charles as he’s more aggressive and linked well with Jander at Anfield. I don’t understand why Robinson has had such little time on the pitch after being arguably our best player in August. I agree we need a win tonight, another loss and Still will start losing the supporters. |

Glad to see Edozie back involved, I think he was unlucky after injuries to not play more in the promotion season, he would have ended up with a double figure goal tally come the end of the season. He can also get past people with ease and uses every blade and touch line to do his thing. For me, Aribo is lazy, looks like he’s been on McCarthy’s pipe half the time. He makes more effort when his place is in jeopardy so why not play like it all the time. It infuriates me, he could have been better for us last year. Shame we couldn’t get his wages off the books. I’m not quite as concerned about the new recruits as some, they are professionals and will be ready. I really like the look of Jander, there’s real quality and talent there.. Aribo will be 4th of 5th choice in the middle unless he starts pulling up trees. |
 | News Comment | Will Still Can Now Wing It In Formation Change at 13:29:56
He could have played Fraser and Robinson as wingers, Armstrong is also seen as a winger, so I disagree when you say he had no choice. 3 at the back clearly wasn’t going to work no matter the personnel, so why persist with it? It’s negative and draws other teams on to us and then the mistakes happen. Not so bad to revert to if two nil up and the oppo are putting us under pressure. Why is it better to do one thing without the right personnel and not the other anyway? Manning for me is a left back, not a ring back or winger. When he’s a wingback his positional play defensively is questionable. We could have also gone for two up top in a 4-4-2 which would have been better than 3 central defenders. Also this is the system that created the ‘trauma’ from last season that the players allegedly have, so why continue with it? Madness |

I don’t see how Quarshie and Taylor fit into a back 3 unless THB is the right side and Quarshie in the middle. I think THB, Stephens and Wood may be the combo today if 3 at the back. Archer has to start, he’s the best finisher. I see Fraser and Robinson starting today so I think only one other attacker, CA for me. Personally I feel we could play Robinson and Fraser on the flanks with Azaz in the middle of a 4-2-3-1.. but we haven’t seen that including Fernandes this term yet so I expect the same formation as the first 3 games. We need a win today or it’s 1 or 2 points from 3 games and so a poor start. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Stoke City The Verdict at 13:30:42
Spot on KingOlaf. Our recruiters are pathetic. Still handed the 2 points to Stoke, not the players. He should be taking the responsibility. We only came back against Wrexham because we ditched the stupid system we are starting with and Ipswich are a poor side who hadn’t replaced their stars lost, we still had ours. They were there for the taking and we scraped a draw. I was so excited and enthused by Still’s words but he and the board have displayed naivety and a sense that they don’t learn from their lessons or indeed other people’s lessons. After last year, I’m almost done with SR already, a day and a half off work as holiday to go to Sheffield in 4 weeks is now looking questionable. They need to get this Dibling mess sorted quickly now after wasting 2 weeks so we can actually get some attackers in who can do the business. We need about 4 judging by what we’ve seen this month. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Stoke City The Verdict at 12:58:23
In 4 games Will Still has merely shown me that he is another manager who hasn’t a clue what he’s doing. As such he takes the negative defensive route. Playing 5 at the back and 2 holding midfielders at home against Wrexham and Stoke is the problem. 3 attackers in a 5 foot 5 guy who wasn’t good enough for West Brom, an 18 year old and a guy who isn’t really an attacker and doesn’t want to be here. This is why our season has begun so poorly and the high energy and the other hull that Still has come out with is impossible with the line up he puts out. Another who refuses to see that 3 centre backs doesn’t work and invites pressure on the defence and defensive midfielders so we’re left with the likes of Downes to try to receive on the half turn and become Pirlo. You have always slated my idea of having Lampsrd as manager and the difference is easy to see. We will never hit 7 at home or 5 on the road with this bottler, we should, yet again, have gone for Lampard, he was keen, our owners and recruiters are morons. They have had all summer to sort out the crap and we’ve done nothing. How many new signings started on Saturday? Zero This club is going the wrong way again because they don’t know how to recruit players or managers, now we have another with zero experience of the league he’s managing in.. Total jokeshop, 3 attackers on the pitch will get us fighting relegation not promotion. |

I would imagine a bench spot at best for Saturday. Looks like a good solid signing, probably better than what we have at the moment, only time will tell. |
 | News Comment | Southampton Table Offer For Middlesbrough Ace To Replace Fernandes at 21:41:24
Decent player, not the quickest but has some style. Tends to score a few goal of the month candidates as well as being a good provider. I would have him for 15 million and keep Fernandes, the 2 together would be great. I don’t get why we didn’t sell Dibling for 37.. we could have brought in Fellows, Azaz and a right back for that money.. We need to offload some of the notgoodenoughs soon |
