Southampton Table Offer For Middlesbrough Ace To Replace Fernandes
at 21:41:24

Decent player, not the quickest but has some style. Tends to score a few goal of the month candidates as well as being a good provider. I would have him for 15 million and keep Fernandes, the 2 together would be great.
I don’t get why we didn’t sell Dibling for 37.. we could have brought in Fellows, Azaz and a right back for that money..
We need to offload some of the notgoodenoughs soon

Who Could Stay Or Go At St Mary's In The Last two Weeks Of The Transfer Window
at 17:23:28

Of course SR will reinvest some up to the point where there is balance. We can lose 5 and replace with 3 on better wages, maybe better players.
I think Dibling will go, Palace are also interested and Edozie, Aribo and ketchup will go too. I would sell Sugawara and THB too as they will bring in enough cash to replace with better imho.. I just hope we keep Fernandes and Robinson as they are key.
We need a new right back, a striker and two attacking mids/wingers.
We’ve got to send a few out on loan like Diaz and maybe Armstrong. I would keep Smallbone for this season tbh, good man to bring on in second half.

Southampton At Northampton Town The Verdict
at 11:09:50

McCarthy is indeed not the best no.2, dropping an easy catch which they nearly scored from.
I blame the manager for this poor performance. Again we started with 3 centre backs and two full backs. I don’t care what anyone says, the two out there are not wing backs, they are full backs playing as wing backs. As such we don’t have the attack which this formation is supposed to bring.
For most of this game and on Saturday, we were missing a player in the middle or up top, because of this stupid 3 centre back persistence against teams far weaker than us. Will Still needs to realise this quickly or it will be a poor season of frustration and our attacking players all losing their confidence.
Downs would have scored if Diaz had managed a simple pass, instead he passed it behind him. Diaz has to go. Sugawara was awful apart from the strike which hit the post. It was a terrible team effort, probably the worst I have seen for a long time. Dreading Ipswich if we continue with this stupid formation which doesn’t suit our players. Groundhog Day…

Southampton V Wrexham The Verdict
at 10:51:00

I disagree with your comments on Jay Robinson. This was first game of the season and his first start for us. I thought he did really well, hit the post with a great effort, was a constant threat and showed his passing ability and vision as with the through ball to Fraser, who for me was busy without any real meat. Armstrong struggled and for me is no longer a starter when we have Stewart, Downs and Archer on the bench. His shooting was poor and we could have made this game a lot easier if we had taken one of the first half chances.
Jack Stephens made a sliding tackle in the box and chased back when Hardie was though one time and made a last ditch challenge, twice saving us before a brilliant finish on the stretch when the only way to score was off the bat if he really went for it. He showed the courage and leadership in those 3 pivotal moments to silence those who continually criticise him.
If we keep what we have from yesterdays squad and add two more players in Fellows and another creator then we’ve got the squad to finish top 2.

Will Still Speaks Ahead Of His First Competitive Game In Charge.
at 16:49:27

You are being very presumptuous here.. Surely Saints have decided that Dibling should train alone to avoid injury and thus the chance to bring in big money. I think it is disingenuous to suggest this is driven by Dibling. The key phrase I picked up on was non contact training which suggests it’s is making this decision to protect our potential windfall, not Tyler.
Secondly, it seems like we are the ones who have told Aribo that he is surplus to requirements, not him telling us he wants out. Quite simply, he’s not hungry and energetic enough and gets found out. So again, I think we have made this decision and giving him time to try to find a new club, not like there’s been loads of offers coming in and his head turning, no he’s just no longer required.
As for Edozie, I don’t know, something doesn’t seem right because we loaned him out last year when he would have given us more than Diaz and probably Fraser and Armstrong too.
I appreciate you may have your ear more to the ground but I don’t see the angle of bitterness that you see, I see sensible decisions being made to give us the optimal chance of being prepared as best as possible for the future.

Southampton Set For Yet Another Turkish Transfer Stand Off
at 16:43:12

I would just refuse to do any business with them. What is the point? Even if they did offer the right price, they would mess about afterwards anyway and probably not pay on time with UEFA doing nothing about it for ‘political reasons’.

Just tell them we’re not interested in doing business with them or mess them about and tell them what goes around comes around afterwards.. gotta play hard ball with these jokers.

That said, I’d probably take the 4 million and get him out the door.. he didn’t even want to play for the u-21 team to build fitness and game time, get rid of the clown..

Southampton Winger Set To Move To France
at 17:11:14

Maybe he didn’t want to be here.. I’m not sure this was a good idea, as with the other Sam. With Mara, Strasbourg will have an all Saints front 3.
I don’t see Fraser on the wing anymore and Dibling is supposed to be more central attacking midfield so we’re left with one winger, Robinson. For me Diaz and Armstrong are not wingers. Strange move this one, I like Edozie. We surely have plans for better players to come in? Or is it that nobody wants Diaz and Armstrong so we’re stuck with them?

Who Will Captain Saints This Season
at 17:29:59

Wouldn’t be surprised if he went for Downes, despite what happened last year. Natural leader by example with the effort he puts in, captain may make him more measured and less rash, he plays in the middle of the park and will start every game. He’s then also the right man to captain us in the Prem next year…
Give him the responsibility and I think he will grow into it quickly. As you say, Jack is our club captain and may not start or stay fit all year.
Charles is too young for me in the Saints shirt but I would happily see Fernandes as skipper too, another who leads by example and has the passion.

Southampton V Valenciennes The Verdict
at 11:45:44

All Still can really do at the moment is get every player fit, work out who is likely to be good enough to stay and who we will end up losing by September. The other thing he can do is blood the new players and the youngsters, although it only looks like 2 or 3 of them.
Archer does look like the best finisher so I can see him getting over 20 goals if he stays fit. I think we’re better geared up for a 4-4-2 or 4-2-2-2 with the players we have so Archer and Downs could be the combo.
We desperately need to get rid of about 10 players but obviously little interest in them..

Saints Award Jack Stephens A 3 Year Contract.
at 16:43:17

Fantastic news! We need a club stalwart to help us through what needs to be the most important rebuild in our history. We all know he isn’t first choice and doesn’t command high wages. This makes a lot of sense to me. That said, I agree that 2 year extension would have been more logical at 31. Perhaps the three years suggests he will continue after his career in some capacity at the club.
You won’t find a braver defender who is willing to throw his body in front of piledrivers when others turn away and the ball deflects into the net (Aribo, Bednarek, THB to name 3 who I’ve seen shy away).
We don’t see how much Jack brings behind the scenes but it’s clearly a lot!

Damion Downs Left Off Koln Pre Season List As Southampton Move Nears.
at 11:14:50

No idea if he’s the answer, his goal tally isn’t staggering. But it’s good to see we are having early success with our targets in Quarshie and Downs, if he does indeed sign.
Need to rid of a few more really soon so we can bring in what we need for some sort of pre season. There’s a lot we can sell on without compromising our squad strength and losing the ones we want to keep.

Take the money and get another off the books who clearly isn’t going to be part of our future. As you say, for some reason the last 3 or 4 managers have ended up not using him, maybe it’s his attitude?
I still can’t work out if Tall Paul has officially gone yet..

Ivan Juric Finally Proves His Worth For Southampton With Sulemana Transfer
at 19:24:15

Wow there really is some divided opinion here! The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
I think the biggest issue we have had is recruitment, this impacted heavily on Martin and Juric last year and I would suggest that opinion is shared by the likes of Rangers and Atalanta. We didn’t have anywhere near the right recruitment to enable the better players to thrive. Sulemana clearly had the talent, he destroyed Man United at OT and showed much in other games. The issue was the end product and that may have been just down to the overall confidence of him and the team. In a fresh start in a better and established team, he might well produce the goods. In that league, I think he will as it’s not as tough as the PL.
Equally, it was probably time for him to move on as it just didn’t work for him here and to get the fee we have as definitely more than I could have hoped for. I didn’t hear about any interest in him from any Prem teams so it’s a good fee.
According to Transfermarkt and some other sites on Google, Onuachu is a Trabzonspor player with a fee of 6 million euros. That’ll do..

Terms Agreed For Tall Paul But Does That Mean He Is Gone
at 10:44:10

Let’s hope it’s done. I’m sick of the Tall Paul saga. Why are we dealing with Trabzonspor anyway? We should have told them we won’t do business with them anymore.. Bunch of dishonest chancers, not surprising it’s a disaster again.

Former Club Interested In Taylor Harwood-Bellis Return
at 16:52:11

Tell them to jog on..
They refused to loan us one of their players because of the Tella joke offer they made, which we refused (and then got £23 million for him. Lost him thanks to Ralph btw..)
But no, sod off Burnley, they set out the rules, they can play by them, we shouldn’t loan out THB to them or do business with them at all whilst their current owners remain.

Perhaps Most Important Appointment Of Summer At Southampton Imminent
at 12:43:10

Hahaha SaintMark.. you are funny..
All that matters is that Will is happy with the appointment. Hopefully Trollope will have a good idea on the character and mentality of a lot of the players we are looking to buy from other English clubs, given his experience in English leagues and about the opposition players we will come up against. That bit of knowledge might be key.
Times have changed, I’m very positive about this new set up, now it’s down to the board to get the player recruitment right.

Southampton Linked With All And Sundry As Rumour Mill Rolls Into Motion
at 16:49:30

I would sell Ramsdale, Bednarek and also Armstrong, we should get a few million for him given his record, just he’s not good enough for the top level where we will trying to reach again in 9 months. The same goes for Smallbone and Manning, they’re never going to be up to Premier League standard so I don’t see the point in keeping them. Quite simply we need to keep those who have the talent for the top despite not showing it yet but that requires the ability to shift all the deadwood we don’t want and that’s often the hardest bit.
Gutted to see we’ve lost another top youngster..
