Excellent 3 points whilst not at our very best. Mani (9) up top just allows many more option than we had last season. Mani allows Rodney to recieve the ball, turn and drive.. the pair must be very difficult to play against.... Then we have another absolute unit in Levi Amantchi to use when the game situation requires.
Whatmuff assured for a 17 year old... Big lad and looks 25 no concerns with him..
Would like to see more of Petit.. possibly a start on Wednesday v Gateshead.
Alty won the midfield battle in the first half so that is one for coaches to look back on, I like the resilience shown to get back level before HT after going 0-1 down.
It is usually said there is no need to judge the team or its league position until 8-10 games in.. Well if we can keep winning (by any means) it will be a damn site easier to judge if we can be sitting pretty in the top 5.
Mentioned last year was the need to score more goals.. 2 per game average gives Dale the very best chance of a top 2 finish... 4 goals in the opening 2 games and we have 2 wins and 6 points so that thought process kind of plays out.
Three worthy non player mentions..
The stewards all were friendly enough and seemed to get the balance right between safety and common sense..
The singing section did a great job. The atmosphere was very good in the stand and the opening day passed without any issues.
I like the addition of Taylor & Done to assist Big Jim. They will add additional steel and nouse.
The squad looks much improved with more balance and with more positive tactics executed we should score a lot more goals.
Alluded elsewhere I would like to be entertained.. I want to leave Spotland at Full Time knowing that there was nothing left in the locker and no self inflicted disappointments.
Every loss and there will be a few, the opposing team need to know it was the hardest fought 3 points they experience this season.
Nice header from Levi Amantchi to give Dale the win.
It would have been a very hot afternoon for the players.
Burnley went 1-0 down then made it 1-1 late in the second half. The Dale lead restored very quickly after a cross from the left hand side was headed home.
I have no idea why we are in this competition but a win is a win as we head into our first league home game on Saturday.
The Sandy Lane volume must be transferred to Pearl street because where i sit is VERY LOUD...
I never hear this type of announcement at away grounds (Ever) ideally wait until half time or a break in play.
It needs to be a rare exception not the rule... Nonsense announcements sometimes twice a game are infuriating. Cars needing to be moved are rarely emergency situations just ticket them or tow!.
On this matter there is NO NEED to announce whilst the game is going on that cars cannot be moved after the final whistle for 20 minutes. Any car that is on the car park just needs to sign up to this to be allowed on in the first place. It really distracts from the game.
So annoying the DING DONG just before some tedious announcement...
Just when Dale are attacking usually sucking whatever atmosphere has been created down a drain...
Turn the BONG Down and use only in emergency.
Last season one announcement went on forever as the poor girl tasked with it had no clear structure to follow. Its usually a car needs moving... quiet bong and can the owner of the silver Vauxhall Vectra registration BO 11 NNG please return to your car immediately.. there is no need to string the above out using phonetics.
Ideally when there is a break in play - heaven forbid there are enough of them.
