Apologies.. i have changed the opening line on my post to something more aligned to the positive moves by the club to increase attendances at Spotland on a match day.
It was not my intention to be negative.
Winning football matches is the key ingredient and in that department the players have delivered a perfect 12 points from our opening 4 league games.
Excellent story that a son has now encouraged his City supporting Dad to Dale and they both have season cards.
Being fair to the Braintree gaffer he was pretty spot on.
Mani / Barlow / Gilmour all having a superb first half.
Should have had at least one more goal before half time. Braintree to their credit did a lot better second half and you could feel the home crowd go a lot quieter including U block and our drum..
It’s 3 more points… another clean sheet at home and we have scored 9 goals at Spotland now in the four undefeated home games… onwards to our longest away trip of the season to Truro…
There is a big test coming up I am looking forward to seeing how this group performs with 3 Saturdays against Southend / Carlisle and FGR.. there is the test we will know October 4th if we are the real deal or flat track bullies.
Big Jim will be pleased that we are well rested after our midweek York postponement whereas Braintree Town played on Tuesday night losing to Tamworth 2-1.
Should be a really good home crowd with a feel good factor around the club and the players performing well on the pitch.
I liked him but he is young and blows hot and cold.
Positives - He has pace and a wicked left footed cross.. whips fantastic balls across its a shame our other FGR player Kairo Mitchell hadnt the pace or intelligence to get on the end of them.
I am told he is a great lad and he has a great engine.
Negatives are subjective but in my eyes.. Lightweight and positionally naive.. He is not a defender and against the better sides he was a little short on something especially defensively if that helps.
How are FGR looking I see (a bit like us) you have had some luck with who you played in your opening games (No perceived big gun)
Understood most of that post and the parts i understood are a great idea.
Something from Jim / the players passed to the group as an appreciation would be a really nice touch... Not that they are any more special than all home supporters at Spotland we all attend differently after all.
I am hoping that the evergrowing number in U block keeps increasing as word spreads. (k)nob heads not invited though!!
