I think a glass EEL are the 'newborns'. Although Gomez-Mancini might be more of an authority on this? 😉 (no disrespect intended to him) |

And with all due respect to how hard promotion is in any season, they only spent 1 yr in L2 then went up to L1 the following season. I'm not saying we could emulate that, but if this squad were to get promoted, I think we'd have a fair chance of at least staying up too. |

Get where you are coming from, and the financial arguments of having payments from the Prem and a funded academy where we can develop our own players and saleable assets is no doubt the prize we should aim for. Long term it is absolutely the best option in a binary scenario, but like TVOS, I would like to think we could try to emulate non league Lincoln and make it to the quarters at Arsenal whilst still having a crack at promotion, like they did? Believe in the sign? 🙏 |

I know the days of lucrative Spurs replays at Wembley are over in more ways than one, but as one of our stated aims is sustainability, I would imagine the ambition of a 'massive' club being drawn in the cup would be high on the Ogden's wish list. Cash coming in from winning games and potential t.v. rights could make a large dent in the bill for replacing a pitch that's fit for purpose - which in turn would also give us the best chance of succeeding in whatever format we play in the future. |

Best team to come to Spotland this year and arguably the best team we've faced this year based on our matches in isolation. We'll drilled, energetic, ruthless when chances were presented and defended well with backs to the wall for half an hour+. Disappointed to drop all 3 points at home and would have liked to see that game played to a conclusion with our available starting XI excluding Pritchard. Still, we're well placed and face our biggest challenge yet vs Village Green away on Saturday. Looking forward to it Up The Dale |

Virtually faultless that. Said same thing as ddb observed previously, was like watching us under Hilly in our pomp. It was also reminiscent of the way Barnet took teams apart and dominated them (including ourselves) last year. Beckwith absolutely a contender for motm. His attacking forays a joy to watch, topped off with a thunderbastard (c) altcomms. Never seen East in so much space. He received the ball on numerous occasions and the Moors defence parted like the red sea and he played puppet master playing forwards in over and over until Shan decided it might be an idea to try to mark him. Another great shift from Whatmuff between the sticks including stopping them adding a second with a cracking save but in truth no one played badly last night. Spotland starting to feel a bit more fortress-like by the game. Regardless of how the season ends, it has been, and should continue to be, a very entertaining one to follow. |

Great achievement and start to the season. I know Jim has numerous detractors but what he did in his first season was incredible under the circumstances and the foundations he laid in his second are mostly what got us to where we are today. As referenced in many threads, BJ has made some howlers in management as he did in his playing days on the field, but he has built a resilient, together squad. How resilient will be tested throughout this month and hopefully also at season’s end, but as fans who nearly lost their club, it's great to be now getting accolades and looking forward to genuinely competing in games. Another couple of observations from the bloke I sit next to. We seemed to be first to the majority of balls last night where last season we weren't. He also likened our playing style to Barnet. I really hope we continue with the policy of as many balls into the box as possible too. As 442 posted and as I mentioned last night at the match, we have some serious height now at both the front and the back so corners should be much easier on the eye this season. |

Couldn't agree more. One of our best performances since the Hilly years and it certainly was thrilling entertainment and a complete performance. They could have had a few themselves, but it's no exaggeration to say we could have added another dozen. For me Rodders for motm. He is so fit and strong this year. Makes you realise what we were missing out on and what a great extension we secured. Pritchard also stood out as pure class but there wasn't a bad player on the pitch for us. The differences in style between this campaign and the last are stark. We are nearly always looking to pass and drive forwards, the neat little nick and turns followed by leaving a defender for dead are a delight and we are shooting at will and queueing up to do so. It's early days, but we seem to have the right squad and management team to have a genuine tilt at promotion this year. Granted Gateshead we're nowhere near the team Alty were but we despatched them with ease, comprehensively and professionally. Making the round trip to Spotland has been a chore on many occasions recently. This season I'm genuinely looking forward to every game. Up the Dale |

Used to be a Trust member and regularly overpaid for the privilege by donation. Membership lapsed now and won't be renewed anytime soon until things change for the better. Ironically, trust exists between people, but isn't obligatory. It has to be earned and can be withdrawn |

Commercial idea in car park for next CAB meeting? Oh, I forgot, Bottomleft. |
 | Forum Reply | CAB meeting minutes at 18:54 4 Jul 2025
Quick "issue" which I'm raising in case the CAB would like to discuss in a future meeting. Been bringing F-i-L to odd games for a while now when he's staying over with us, and he brought one of his mates from the apartment complex he lives in for the Spennymoor game and his mate was bitten by the bug despite the loss and the ultimate failure to progress further in the playoffs (disenchanted Utd and WHU fans respectively). Both qualify and planned to buy an exiles ticket for the main stand, but thought the price was £120. Turns out that's for the Sandy and it's £180 for the main stand, where they want to sit, with no concessions for seniors on this ticket. The p-o-t-d price is £19/game for seniors but with a £5 fan card, it's £14/game. So after 2 games and an outlay of £33, it's already cheaper per game than the £18/match on an exiles ticket. It's not a problem for them to attend like this, and both have bought a fan card and come to whichever games they want to. It just seems more than a little incongruous that it can be cheaper for anyone to attend matches with a fan card, with no commitment to attend further games, than someone buying an exiles card and committing to 10 games. Pricing should surely be more advantageous for anyone doing the latter? Thought it was worth a mention. |
