I think your being a bit harsh on Adam Lallana, this is taken from a article a couple of weeks back. Seems the stats say he is 3rd best in Prem. Can we ask anymore than that?

Lallana is an intelligent player and as a result, reads the game very well; often spotting something before everybody else. This is reflected in his defensive contribution as he makes 3.7 interceptions per game; the third highest in the league. Testament to how well he reads the game; he matches this with an impressive work rate as he always shows a willingness to track midfielders running from deep.
