You do an incredible job on here Clive. Look after yourself. I think we all know plenty about Hayden and Saito. Just as long as you taking this week isn’t akin to JCS and Ben Williams discussing a short term absence from training, we’ll all be fine. (If we sign Edward’s, I’m confident there will be a homage of a write up pretty quickly though 😀) |

As exciting as this is, it makes me nervous on what we are doing financially, albeit the loan with permanent option does give us the chance to assess at the end of the year. I think this and Saito is the Eze money done and whilst it’s very positive, we’ll really need for a few of these players to be saleable assets in the coming 2-3 years, I.e. not do what we did with Dykes, Dickie, Dieng etc, but rather Kelman and Armstrong but to a bigger extent with turning these guys for £5m+ fees. Whilst I can think of 10-12 players that could have significant upside and profit, it feels we are panicking a bit spending potentially £9m since Sunday with decent wages as well, because Watford and Coventry were big wake up calls. |

Really good to hear Andy is at home and recovering. Awful news over the weekend and he is such a big part of a lot of what is good about the club at the moment. I immediately thought about the calls he made during Covid to check in on QPR fans who were elderly or alone etc during lockdown. I really hope the club are doing what they can to support him. Isn’t that exactly what the club have been trying to do for the past few years and especially over the past 12? Dembele, Morrison, Burrell, Kone & Poku all the pick of League 1 sides or had very solid loans there (Morrison & Dembele)? |

Blimey this is negative. We’ve won 2 in 17 for both of the past two seasons and survived and we’re shi11ing the bed about 2 league games in which we’ve played reasonable well for part of both, playing with a multitude of new signings and without any senior full backs in both matches. |
 | Forum Reply | Julien Stephan - Word of warning at 10:07 17 Aug 2025
A couple of years back we had the exact approach of starting a little slower to avoid longer term injuries etc. That worked well or perhaps it is intentional. Or perhaps put pre season and fitness regime is getting it totally wrong. But I don’t expect our aim is to have a season where our team collapse after 65 mins. It will get sorted one way or other |
 | Forum Reply | Eze at 10:04 17 Aug 2025
That was not how I interpreted it. He made it clear that we were not spending the Eze money in advance of him being sold. Which is clearly the right thing to do given the uncertainty. It would also be foolish to say something along the lines of ‘once we raise £10m from Eze, we’ll spend that’ as every negotiation thereafter becomes more expensive. We need a DCM and a LB and the squad will look pretty good to me |

Is he playing a3-5-2 with Smyth and Morgan as wing backs? Leaving Chair in the middle of the 3 with Dembele forward? Otherwise perhaps Dembele is RWB but I’ve made as many tackles in professional football as he has…..bit baffling. Or perhaps it’s 5-4-1 with the same back 5, Field and Madson in front with Chair and Dembele wide of Burrell? [Post edited 16 Aug 14:02]

My in laws are Pompey season tickets holders. I told them Hayden would keep them up. I think it was a slow start as he was nowhere near match fit. I don’t think they are big fans of Dozell but you are correct, he was not being carried by Hayden and was being picked ahead of him at a point. But I think he improved as the match fitness improved….but I don’t think it was anywhere near as positive a loan as we had last year. Equally, without Colback, our midfield two of Varane and Field have no cover other than the new CB. In a more advanced position we have Madson, Morgan, Vale, Chair or Dembele depending on the formation. Both Varane and Field will pick up suspensions and I don’t fancy many of the forward midfielders as part of a central 2 etc. Tuck needs another loan I would guess. So, experience, good in the dressing room, leadership and a known quantity was what had swayed my view. Obviously I know nothing about potential financials. I know others have highlighted LB being vital….I actually think another CM is probably the most important…….you don’t win many games of football when you get overrun in midfield etc. As Brian Clough once said, if you are conceding goals at one end and not scoring at the other…..your problem is midfield….. |

I really like him and his stats are pretty impressive for goal involvements etc! I think there is a mistrust that he wants out, not helped by some of the narrative that supposedly his dad has said. He’s 20 years old, been here since he was 8, has significant natural talent, knows where the goal is, and has an incredible haircut. What’s not to like? 😀 |

Weren’t we being very heavily linked to Alfie Gilchrist on a perm not so long ago? Has that disappeared or perhaps never really an option ? |
 | Forum Reply | The QPR summer transfer rumours thread at 13:08 30 Jun 2025
I don’t think that’s a fair comparison as he was stuck at Newcastle and not in their prem squad. His games were played in the loan at Pompey on 2025 only. Colback’s was over the course of a whole season. |

I had understood back in January from this board (not ITK at all) that we retained a strong link with Isaac Hayden, despite his loan to Pompey. Assuming Colback is going and has generally only been fit/not suspended for 50% of games, wouldn’t bringing Hayden be the final part of the defensive midfield puzzle? 3 or 4 years younger than Colback, keen to play for us , great leadership and dressing room presence etc? I know he has a good contract at Newcastle, but his last two years have been loans where I expect neither club have paid much for them. Could possibly agree a deal with Newcastle and take a more moderate wage with us for a 2 year deal etc? Apologies if I have missed a recent discussion or if this is a Spackman!! |

Fully agree we need to ensure it clearly still works but I think our current record of bringing players into the first team from 17-20 years old is excellent. Over the past 8 years the list would include: Chair, Eze, Manning, Bright, Lumley, Dieng, Armstrong, Lloyd, Kolli, Manning, Smyth, Morgan and Sutton. There are a few more that have played a handful of games. But that’s over 2 a year on average to have come through the DS and play a decent amount of Championship games. |

If the pitch was moved around so pointing more towards the power league pitches, it would alleviate some of the limitations around the school/ Ellerslie and the Ellerslie/Loft corners of the ground. It could provide the footprint to allow the H&S to stop being the major curtailing issue as we expand into SA side which has a lot of space already at the SA/Loft corner. Time will tell but it feels the best option for expanding the ground that I have heard…. [Post edited 10 May 12:20]

Cardiff would need to win 3 of their 4 games and for us not to get a point given the goal difference. I cannot see them winning 3 of 4. Luton need to win all 4 to overtake us. Would take something absolutely incredible from here to be relegeted |

Where has this £1.7m fee and 25% sell on information come from? This would be a significant profit for a player that has looked well below par…? |

Football is different to the other sports mentioned because it’s not only endurance with a lot of running, there is also short sharp sprinting, quick turning, jumping and or course a lot of physical contact. In the other sports like tennis and cycling, they carry out intense periods of activity for a tour or tournament but then have weeks of rest if needed. The number of footballing injuries back up the need for managing loading, including our injury list this year. |

This doesn’t sound like plantar fasciitis, but rather damage to the planter fascia.I’ve had PF a couple of times and it’s generally an irritating painful feeling in the foot, especially first thing in the morning. I had various physio, innersoles and roller balls etc and it got better over time. A niggly injury a bit like tennis elbow. Cook went down like he’d been shot and I initially assumed he’d torn his achilles or calf. Presumably he’s strained the planter facia, as they said no tear, and that will take a bit of time to heal but doesn’t sound like a chronic issue like planter fasciitis is [Post edited 24 Dec 2024 21:48]
