 | Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Charlton Athletic Your Report added at 17:31:03 What a difference long balls and a proper CF can make. Rs were much more physical and assertive from the start but then conceded a lot of possession, and in truth were a little lucky in the end. The Charlton goal had been coming. Our subs, esp Koki, made the difference. Far from convinced by Walsh and although Kone did well some of the online comments have been over the top. Madsen is improving and did well to hang on in there in a game he wasn't suited to. My MotM is Varane, but it was a good all round performance. More please! |
 | Your Report | Coventry City v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 19:54:36 We were bad, but were we that bad? 4-1 or 5-1 bad perhaps. A tonking rather than a slaughter? But that doesn't help at all unless we discover some energy and aggression. Far too timid, rarely won a 50:50 ball or made a tackle. I thought Burrell deserves some credit for trying and Kolli showed some positive signs. I don't think Walsh could have done much more for most of the goals but think Nardi should get a grip next week |
 | Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Swansea City Your Report added at 20:45:33 After the excitement of two away wins and Lucas' stunning goal at Preston today was crashing to earth. Swansea were much the better team for the first 70 minutes. They dominated possession, pressed energetically and gave Rs few opportunities to get forward. They deserved the 2-0 lead. In the last 20 minutes when our subs were on we looked better, created the goal and had more possession. But Swansea were hungrier, played with more intensity and ran more. We missed some muscle from Field or Varane to support Colback. He's looked good recently but 2 games in 4 days maybe a lot for ageing legs. Fox was poor at the back but perhaps had something of an excuse only starting because Varane had a problem in the warm up. We've had some erratic refs this season but Simpson was one of the worst I've seen. Inconsistencies all the time and in his eyes Rs committed 19 fouls which must be more than we usually concede without doing anything different, indeed without Field or Varane on the pitch. He did at least give us 8 minutes of extra time. Jimmy Dunne may have been at fault for the second goal, he seemed to leave an awful lot of space behind him in the penalty area for Swansea to exploit but otherwise was probably our best player. |
 | Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Bristol City Your Report added at 19:06:52 Very promising signs in the first quarter of how Rangers could play with nippy, mobile forwards ably supported by Madsen who had his best game for us, even showing physical strength at times. Once Bristol City got a grip of midfield it was hard for us but the defence was strong and with better finishing we could have sneaked a win. Considering it injury list and that the Robins are a good team we can be pleased with the performance. Hard to pick a MotM as it was an all round team display, but think might give it to Madsen, at least partly because he showed great character after numerous abysmal performances and clearly Marti hasn't felt able to trust him into forced by injuries. |
 | Your Report | Oxford United v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 17:04:24 Solid performance, but against a poor team so difficult to judge how good we were. But defence and midfield did pretty much all we could ask for and although the attack was a weak point we scored 3 goals. I'm particularly impressed with Morrison and don't understand why we've not seen more of him. And as others have said we saw some signs that maybe Madsen could become an ok player for us. I'd give Colback MotM. Used his experience and footballing brain to help us mostly control the midfield. |
 | Your Report | West Bromwich Albion v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 22:29:47 Going into this game against a decent team, with a good new striker and a good manager was always going to be difficult. Doing it without your 2 most reliable midfield shields, no striker and a front 4 who between them barely reached 2 metres or 80 kilos (for the seniors about amongst us that's 6 feet or 12 stone) was hopeless. But actually we played quite well, especially when the opponents were reduced to 10 men, but tbh WBA were always a shade stronger and just a bit more dangerous. So a bit like Sheff Utd, not quite good enough in a division where gradations of spending power make all the difference. The Baggies could buy themselves a decent striker in January and a couple of other players who actually cost money. You can argue about Marti's selections but playing without a No 9 was a gamble worth taking and most of the other decisions made themselves. Ashby may have provided a bit more muscle than Yang and an extra body in midfield may have helped when we didn't have the out ball to Michi up front. It was good to see Morrison get game time. Saito and Chair tried their best but the WBA defenders know how to make it difficult. |
 | Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Sheffield United Your Report added at 19:21:31 We played well,, worked hard and created chances, more than Sheff Utd. Most pleasingly we weren't bullied by their physicality. Michi was always prepared to mix it as we knew he would, but the youngsters Yang and Morgan found it hard. They're not used to this level of intensity but still showed some good touches. Saito and Smyth offered more. The first goal seemed to come from several errors, Yang losing the ball, Paal and Dunne slow to cover Brereton Diaz's run and Nardi should have come off his line. The second was basically a worldie, the sort of goal we conceded at the start this season. We got no help from the Ref. In general letting the game run is good, but there were too many fouls on Rs players that went unpunished. When Choudhury chopped down Saito in the second half a second yellow would have been justified but we just got the free kick. Wilder saw the risk and hauled Choudhury of shortly after. We can be positive about the performance, but still disappointed as we largely matched the Blades. They were pacier and sharper with their chances. They've spent more money and are in line for automatic promotion for a reason. Varane, Colback and Chair all had good games. We still need to find the quicker, progressive passes through midfield and be prepared to run with the ball, but this was hard against a well organised team who pressed very well. Difficult to choose a MotM, but I think Varane gets it. |
 | Your Report | Coventry City v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 09:58:50 At the end of the match I thought it had been pretty even and Rs had chances to win it. But looking at some match stats Coventry shaded shots on target and passing accuracy and Nardi had to make more saves so perhaps Coventry shaded it. Still gutting to lose in the 95th minute from a corner when we'd failed to make best use of a succession of late corners. I thought Sam Field drifted off his man which left Thomas with an easy header to win the game. Not a bad game from the Rs, but we lack a cutting edge and Frey's limitations are exposed against good defenders and he missed the best chance of the match. Lloyd was ineffective when he came on. This is of course still tons better than where we were earlier this season. Colback was excellent showing control and passing a step up from Field and Varane and my MotM, but Nardi was also good for some excellent saves. What a relief to have a reliable keeper. |
