Refwatch - Woking v Rochdale

Woking Fan here - I come in peace

I thought I'd add some thoughts after last night's game, from hopefully a reasonably balanced perspective.

Rochdale is one of those clubs in my eyes who are not a Tier 5 club, but who should be in higher leagues, well established, history , good fan base etc however you find yourselves in the NL, and TBH I think you are destined to stay down here so long as you keep your current manager in place.

I've supported Woking at this level and below for the last 20 odd years, and this is a bastard hard league make no bones about it.. and sadly I sense Mr McNulty has been infected by the Pep mind virus, and you are not going to win the league by playing football on your own 6 yard line. The reality is that most of the players at this level are simply not good enough, that's why they are in the 5th tier.

I also make a point of watching the opposition manager's post match interview, and an interesting watch indeed.

The chat on Moaner's corner ( the small terrace next to the dugout ) at half time was this was going to be a long night and a difficult watch, however the chatter at the end was one of complacency from Rochdale and that we almost nicked it.

So in my book McNulty should have owned that defeat fair and square, you should have killed that game off, and his tactics did not make that happen, and once the words about the state of the pitch come out of a manager's mouth you know they are on the defensive ( btw - do you think we want a pitch like it is at the moment? and in case he forgot we weren't playing a different surface !! ), the other tell is the one about injuries, we have been absolutely ravaged but Ardley doesn't lead with that..

He needs to find some balls and a spine, cos if he doesn't have it your team won't have it.. I'm am sure your players have the desire and aggression that is needed at this level, but it has to come from the top.. it's no surprise the 2 best teams I've seen this year - Barnet & FGR have managers who are absolutely snarly gob shites, who appear to have a resting state of barely contained anger..and btw neither of those clubs are league clubs given their pathetic fan bases..

I would really like to see Rochdale back where they belong, but I sense you may be down here for a long stay unless hard decisions are made..

PS - also not a fan of manager's telling players to go down when they get in the box, which he did last night..
