Is Saito a future 10?
at 13:51 17 Sep 2025

Just something I've been pondering this week and keen to see what others think.

Saito's return has seemingly provided us with an improved version of the smiling bundle of joy that we had last year. It's been great to see.

And with Ilias sadly succumbing to injuries of late (very unusual for him) are we seeing the torch being passed to a future number 10?

To be clear - I'm a big fan of Chair and he's a wonderful servant to QPR (got to be about 260 odd games now) and I'm NOT writing him off or forgetting how he creatively carried a weak QPR team for several years on his own but for a player who was barely injured to suddenly being injured frequently (and then throw in the off-field court case) are his better days potentially behind him?

Did this make the club pull the trigger on Saito?

He flattered to deceive as a player, and is deceived to flatter as a former pro.

Esquadina’s shooting
at 10:20 3 Sep 2025

There was a weird 2/3 minute spell just after he came on where we suddenly decided to start shooting. Granted a couple were his wayward howitzers, but if anything it makes me like him more.

18, homesick, Brazilian kid, giving it the beans in the Championship. I think he will be granted some game time, he’s got a bit about him.

At the back of F block where I sit, there were a bunch of Brazilian fans (a couple in a fluminese shirt) going mad when he came on.

Glad he's gone, but am intrigued to see if any club will throw the dice and sign him...

A Kelmanation of errors QPR vs Charlton Athletic Match Thread
at 20:49 30 Aug 2025

Delighted with the win, thought we were a tad fortunate and Charlton had way too much of the ball for my liking.

RND was a little underwhelming. Esquerdinha is mental and I love him for it. Out of the two, the latter has the potentail.

Madsen, from my point of view, played fairly well. He's a frustrating watch, as he's techincally sound, but just seems to be intermittent with effort.

Smyth and Saito though (Pocket SAS) were vital in our win today.

Saito especially. Is No. 10 his position to lose?

And Koné can properly finish. First time i've seen him in the flesh. He's bigger, stronger and a little slower than I thought. although Burrell with another decent cameo gives us pace. I know it's passé but i'd love to see them play up front as a 2.

A win's a win. U Rs!

Saito signs

Saito did provide cover at left back a couple of times also. Love the bloke, but have to wonder if we would have been better off singing an actual central midfielder that isn’t defensively inclined.

Charlie Kelman to break his duck against us.

It’s completely subjective and based on the success of the signings which is yet to be proven, so this whole transfer window who wins/loses is a bit of a new football media news thing I don’t really get on board with.

Would anyone have said Orient signing Kelman on loan this time last year was winning the window?

Not trying to be a wind up, but I’d like Nourry gone. Then I’d be happy. I can’t warm to his lack of info and ChatGPT speak, his contempt for long standing fans. His age is the least of my concerns.

Most of the transfers whilst more than welcome are also needed, so anyone in Nourry’s shoes would have been able to see the same. Or you’d at least hope so.

Celar shown the door

Totally agree. Madsen and Celar were THE marquee signings last year and their abject failure at QPR is currently the icing on a horrific tasting cake, designed and created by Nourry.

Baffling decisions and processes put in place by the CEO who is playing Championship Manager with our club.

He’s really been totally and consistently hopeless, Cardiff away really was a fortunate aberration.

Both great posts. Yours Northolt and the one you’re referring to.

Field has never had anyone alongside to let him solely focus on doing all the defensive work he is great at and because of his willingness and availability and our squads constant deficiencies in midfield he’s being asked to do more than he probably should have been.

Despite the positive signings it’s amazing at the lack of central midfield options we have.

Whenever we endure a bad run, Field is often highlighted. When we go on a good run, he’s rarely mentioned. He lacks the skill set of a Faurlin but as Field the Shield he’s a vital player and one of the first names on the sheet for me.

He’s also, unusually for a QPR player, regularly available. In 4 years he’s played 153 games, this means he’s been there through the occasionally good and mostly bad.

Anyone alongside Madsen in a midfield 2 would struggle.

Autumn…
at 18:19 19 Aug 2025

I was in a not very good band at school (think peak Britpop era) and the drummer walked in after summer break saying he’d written a song called ‘Autumn Thoughts’

It was far too tender for a bunch of 16 year old lads and we ripped him for it.

But whenever it turns to autumn, I think of that song by the drummer now 30 years later - perhaps it wasn’t that bad after all 🤣🤣

I love autumn, also my favourite season.

The season 25-26 squad thread
at 16:54 13 Aug 2025

This squad deserves an update and isn't looking quite as worrying now.

A LB and an extra body in midfield would be ideal. Although, I really hope Poku hasn't pulled his hammy that would be a sickener!

Good job it's August or might have been tricky to get them out of school.

Playing very young players - it's different, I'll give JS & CN that!

I reckon we should blood in all the under-15s as they'll be involved in first team fixtures come the Tue-Sat-Tue drudge of November and December.

If Celar is the answer what's the question 🤔

If field is the 8 it needs to be on the left side of the midfield, play to his strengths at least.

Not the topic, but I’ve got a feeling that Varane will be sold this summer. I’m not ITK, just a gut feeling.

I was watching Les Ferdinand’s 149 PL goals on Sky this morning and the amount of lovely little final passes from Wilkins (lofted, through ball, you name it)from a slightly advanced midfield position was a sight to see. We are sorely lacking someone that can do that.

I’ll prepare my tinfoil hat but out of the current squad I’d say maybe Madsen could do something a little like that (obviously not to Ray’s standard) but possibly…

I’ve wanted him to do well (like everyone) but it’s just not going to happen here. He always seems slightly late to every action. If I had to describe his playing style, I’d say it’s listless even though I do think he’s trying.

Time to roll the dice, sell or loan him out and take a look at getting another striker with above all else, availability and a sense of urgency about his play.
