Southampton V Manchester City The Preview
at 02:13:43

I can understand why we aren't playing Adam Lallana, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Charlie Taylor, Ryan Fraser, Wellington, Albert Gronbaek. The team has been outstanding this season and so close to achieving the greatest glory in the clubs history of beating Derbys amazing record.

To take stephens, bednerak, THB, Manning, smallbone, aribo, sulemana etc out at this stage and replace them with better players is crazy talk.

What if these last three nothing games is where they are going to prove us wrong and show us they have always been premier quality players.

Dom Ballard And Forgotten Man Boost Saints First Team Claim
at 04:25:40

An injured Dom Ballard would do better than the crap we had upfront this season.

We need to bring through some of these U21's and loaned out players, it's important we use as many players available to us who have not been involved into the embrassmemt we just called a season.

Why aren't we trying the U21s now, what do we have to lose? why keep using the same losers that put us in this situation. By playing them we are not keeping then accountable, are we meant to think they are going to step us at stage of the season ? The last of ounce dignity available was on Saturday at Lecister, enough said.

The Rumour Mill Suggests Southampton FC Are Up For Sale
at 15:34:47

Dragan is a businessman who bought the club as an investment. To be fair to him, he has put money into the club. His big mistake was appointing the people to run the club.

SR needs to be in the premier to make some kind of return on their investment. The problem is that we currently have a championship squad with little sell-on value. If we do return to the Premier League, we would need serious investment to get a Premier League quality squad that can survive, probably 300m is what's needed in today's market.

Dragan is probably aware of this, the question is whether he is willing to keep investing with us?

Southampton At West Ham United The Verdict
at 22:49:30

If the bulk of this team is here next season i will be concerned, i cant see how this is a good foundation to build on. It shows SR is still not learning.

This team has been involved in two relegations in the past three seasons. They went down this season without a fight and made the club a laughing stock. I think there is maybe ten players (including the loaned out) that are worth keeping and building a team that can, grow, develop and be ready if we return to the premier league. We know most this team aren't premier league quality. SR need to he ruthless this summer, they weren't last and it cost us big time.

Manchester United, West Ham And Leeds Circling Over Southampton
at 18:45:48

Bazunu or McCarthy would be adequate in the championship, problem is there not good enough for the premier league if we get back. This is a problem not just with the keepers but most of the squad we have. I would like to see the club have somewhat of a vision and build a team around players that can improve and develop to a higher level.

If the team next year consists mostly of THB, Wood, Edwards, Wellington, Fernandes, Dibling, Charles, Downes, Edozie , a couple strong signings (has to be quality over quantity this time), this is something i can get behind, the club as a vision and looking to create a squad that has the potential to improve & grow in the coming seasons.

If the team next year consists Stephens, Bednarak, Manning, Sugawara, Bree, Aribo, Smallbone, Fraser, Diaz, Armstrong, Onuachu, Archer, Sulemana, I'm out, it shows SR has learned nothing since they been and still willing to roll out the same crap we been looking at for too long.

Also, i don't buy into keeping players that will be good in the championship, that's only a short term fix, if they get us promotion there is no chance we can take them up with us again, we weren't ruthless after the playoffs, so many players had to go, we need to start that process now.

Southampton V Aston Villa The Verdict
at 15:13:07

Agree it's strange about Gronbaek, Taylor & Fraser, they should be starting every game until the end of the season if available, Taylor and Fraser have experience at this level and could make us a little better.

Can we see the starting eleven finish a game? Whenever we make a sub, the team becomes weaker. We have lost points this season with our substitutions.

Five at the back just hasn't worked. Why are we still playing it? I would with a back four, take out Stephens, Bednerak, and THB. They can't play together, look clueless, and aren't up for the fight. Play ABK and Wood, what do we have to lose?

Tiredness didn't contribute to all three goals conceded, we made three subs before they scored. Tielemans had the freedom of the St Marys midfield for their first goal, it was embarrassing how much space he had. We can't use tiredness as an excuse for lack of effort, fight and determination, these are supposed to be professional athletes. Players need to be held accountable.

Sport Republic Can Be A Big Success For Southampton Says Spors
at 23:27:56

Is this Guy just off the street or has he been briefed on what a complete and utter shambles SR have been since they walked in the door? They have got every football decision wrong ( not giving any credit for promotion since they got us relegated)

A statement like "I think people maybe don’t really see the benefits of it yet", what is he on ?

Forget about multi club, behind the scenes, player pathway, what i need to hear from this Guy is "We have been an embarrassment & laughing stock to the football world and it's not acceptable and I apologize to the fans and determined to do better"

We know what the club is, sadly SR and this Guy doesn't.

Ivan Juric Got One Thing Right At The Weekend With Will Smallbone
at 15:11:59

It was wrong to boo Smallbone.

The fans were beyond frustrated, tired of the same shambles every week, they were letting their frustrations be known and he took the brunt of it

For Smallbone, he doesn't do himself any favours, when selected to play in the engine room of a team that's on course to be the worst team of premier league history, in a stadium full of disgruntled fans, you watch him strolling around for 60 mins, no tracking back, no tackling, not making an impression on the game (far from a Chris Marsden performance) sorry but that's not going to cut it with the fans in our current situation.

Now Smallbone isn't alone here, most players are letting us down, hopefully, he can learn from this, use it and become a better player.

We are down but can the players can least give us a bit of passion, fight and desire on our way, is that too much to ask ?

How Many Of The Southampton Squad Will Still Be Here After Transfer Window
at 16:41:33

Hard to know what the squad will be at the start of the season, just hope we can clear out the deadwood, keep some of the younger talent and bring in some experience.

Loyalty bonus's for a pathetic season performance and going AWOL when we needed them for a relegation battle, really sad to see where this game has gone.

Stuart Armstrong Seeking Transfer Move To European Club
at 14:21:24

SA was a great player for us, my favourite player since he has been at the club, yes people will say he was inconsistent and only showed glimpses, Sadly I would put his time with us as disappointment, but I totally put that down to the mangers and coaching staff which he had to work under, but in fairness you could add another 20 players to that list.

Still think he has a few more seasons in the premier league, Brighton would be a great team for him.

Saints Said To Have Completed Move For Ex Pompey Loanee Keeper
at 13:18:25

Bazuna has played 10 times for the Republic of Ireland so at least his has some experience playing at a high level. I've seen him play regularly and is a good keeper, he was man of the match when Ireland lost 2-1 to Portugal, he saved a penalty from Ronaldo in that game.

i think this would be a good signing for us.

Saints Already Planning Central Midfield Transfer Strategy For Next Season
at 16:03:03

Good article summing up how we can survive in this league, our owners don't have billions, so selling high / buying low is probably a solid approach.
Yes, it’s frustrating and sends out the image of a selling club and lack of ambition. Unfortunately, this world of football is heavily controlled by player & agent power so when players want to move on its hard to win the battle to keep them (Lallana, Lovern, Van Dyke), cash in and reinvest can be the best of a bad situation. Have many players really advanced in their careers after they leave us ?

Must disagree on the only blip being back in 2017-18, I would say it was over a 3-4 seasons, what we did learn from this period is how paramount the recruitment will have to be going forward with black box system.

Southampton At Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict
at 04:05:20

Absolutely immense, we all know Spurs get the luck in this fixture, what character to come back after that and win it, a couple years back we would have crumbled.

I seriously can’t remember a better performance from a Southampton team. I always felt Ralph was a great manager and was perfect for us, tonight is a reflection of that, we have to remember the constraints he had to work under, hopefully the ownership will back him this summer and who knows what can happen.

How could you pick a man of the match after that, everyone was brilliant, just have to mention how fantastic S Armstrong is, what a bargain, he has to be the first name on the team sheet.

So glad we kept Moi and hope we offer him a new contract.

Doesn’t look like it Højbjerg has progressed since he left us, just another name added to the grass and greener list.

It was brilliant bringing on Theo at the end to wind up the Spurs fans.

Southampton At Crystal Palace The Preview

Have to disagree with two things in this article

1. A central pairing of Jan Bednarek & Mo Salisu is not strong, Bednarek was been poor for a long time, the Arsenal game is evident of that, Salisu & Lyanco have to be our partnership going forward with Small and Simeu making the breakthrough this or next season.

2. There is no such thing as a free hit, it creates a defeatist mentality.

Southampton V Leeds United The Verdict
at 14:07:33

Very good performance, every player put in a shift to get our first win of the season, added bonuses were a clean sheet, the return of Stuart Armstrong, not giving points to a bottom half team.

Yes, i have been critical of Redmond in the past but I'm only too happy to see him putting in a great performance like that, the frustration with him over the years is we know he can do it, but the lack of consistency makes us a little impatient, hopefully he can build on this.

Apart from the Wolves defeat i think it’s been a decent start to the season, with some winnable fixtures coming up hopefully we can start to climb up the table.

Southampton At Chelsea The Verdict
at 17:00:50

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope your feeling better.

Yes it was a disappointing result after been level right up to the 80th minute. Holding out with the champions of Europe for that long is no easy feat, yes they were all over us in the first half and we got a couple of VAR decisions go our way.

At the start of the season 4 points after the first 7 games would be a realistic and a acceptable return considering the opposition, the real challenge for Ralph will be the next 7 games, with some winnable fixtures coming up anything less than 9 points and serious question will be getting asked, i like Ralph but this period will be crucial. i hope he get its right and turn things around.

The big concern is the attacking, creating chances and scoring goals, we just don't have the creativity in the current squad, i really question why we bought Theo, Redmond doesn't create enough (evident in the past 5 seasons), jury is still out on Djenepo, Elyounoussi needs more consistency. This should change when Stuy comes back. I would like to see Tella get more time and see Tino tested on the wing.

A Armstrong and Adams will work all day but without proper service its going to be hard for them to score goals.

Southampton At Manchester City The Verdict
at 14:35:06

Great result and performance. Everyone played, special mention to Romeu who was immense, Pep even praised him in his interview.
Salisu and Bednerak would be my first choice CB pairing but Stephens is in the best form in a saints shirt and was making that CB position his own, he was unlucky to get injured. The defence has been pretty solid this season, utd, city & west ham have scored 32 goals so far but all only managed one goal against us which is a credit to how well we have defended as a team, it’s our attacking play and goal scoring which needs to improve and start putting the ball in the net more often.
A fit Ings was probably a 20 goals a season striker, this is an area that saints will have to spend £40m+ to get a striker on this stature, I think lack of goals will be our Achilles heel this season, based on the games so far it won’t be the defence.
