Hot weather driving a lack of hydration and lack of electrolytes. Some peoples metabolisms can cope better than others. Energy sachets and water bottles help but there are limits. I expect it'll stop happening in a months time. |

Suspensions are for the competition they were earnt. The cup game might help Chalobah but Bannan will be available for the cup but not the next league game. BTW - it shows the stupidity of getting yellows for dissent (doing a Colback). One bit of bad luck in a challenge and you are gone. |

If we play like we did in the first half this will be a good season, if we play like we did in the second it will be long and painful. Thought everyone did well today, much brighter than the pre-season stuff. Field can’t play that far forward, his control and touch let him down too often, he struggled more than most today. Ref spoilt the afternoon, had no feel for the match. Way too many mistakes and inconsistency to be allowed anywhere near a whistle. Lindsay should have been a red and as for pulling back the quick throw near the end, that looked like he was playing as an extra defender. Pr1ck as someone else has said. |

The Athletic says different. <quote> Oh, and he will try to add a new English club (teams like QPR, Southampton, or Watford, as opposed to Sheffield Wednesday) to the mix to make something that should fly off the New York Stock Exchange’s proverbial shelves.<end quote> |

Sorry, long rambling stuff ahead... I've seen a few Wednesday fans have been piling the criticism on the EFL and others and this "absolute disgrace" of the authorities (whoever they are) "doing nothing". What I'd like to know is who and what are they supposed to do? Their owner has problems but at the time he bought the club he had all the boxes ticked to pass the tests at the time as a fit and proper person with the right finances in place. He's had an absolute mare running that club, spending money they didn't have with the expectation of promotion to 'big league' and when that failed they had points deductions and relegation and the financial and team decisions since then have been ill advised. The authorities can't step in and make those decisions for him or them, can you imagine the furore if the EFL said a team had to sell a particular player whether they liked it or not? So, having ballsed it up are the EFL supposed to get rid of him somehow? He owns it. Do they buy the club? Obviously not. Do they provide a couple of million to pay the staff and costs to keep it running? Do me a favour, every team would want free money at the same time. The PFA are helping the players, as a unions should, but they can't subsidise the club costs to the detriment to other clubs. The EFL are obliged to ensure that football debts are paid which isn't helping Wednesday but they are debts they shouldn't have run up. It's hard to see how they could possibly complete a full season without a sale happening in the next couple of days or some significant injection of cash appearing. With no guarantee of them playing all 46 matches they should be kicked out. The unfairness of some teams playing more matches than others with increased risks of injury, bookings, sendings off etc really should be avoided. It's awful for the fans, I know a few of them and do feel sorry for them, but lets be realistic about authority intervention. It ain't happening and shouldn't. [Post edited 2 Aug 10:06]

Apparently the friendly has been cancelled as the Wednesday players have refused to play until they are paid this month. Spiralling ever downwards. |

Agree with this. These ain't big issues, maybe there needs to be a little perspective. Just imagine being at the Sheffield Wednesday Fans Forum. Of course I'll be spitting feathers if it's 2 wins in the first 17 again. |

Nourry said that there was very little capital expenditure available for the ground this year, hence waiting until next year to make more changes. The magic money tree is bare. |
