I wonder if he is going to be one of those managers who spends his career perpetually taking teams up the Championship table but never quite winning the game of snakes and ladders. |
 | Forum Reply | Most unpleasant book you’ve ever read? at 22:55 1 Apr 2025
I don't really read macabre books. I like books with a nice, healthy thread. I guess the darkest ones I have read are Dracula and Perfume. That said, I didn't find Dracula hugely scarey in terms of the vampire's antics. What I found more un-nerving was the behaviour of the professor towards the female victims. It borders on grooming. A lot of people would say that Perfume is weird but I like it. The protagonist is a sickly boy/man whose senses are depleted apart from his sense of smell which is incredibly acute. He latches onto smells, which he lives for, with unsavoury consequences in terms of kidnapping, imprisoning and killing various victims so that he can 'bottle' their scents for his own personal delectation and to create perfumes. It all ends in scenes of absolute debauchery. Another weird one is the Butterfly Collector by John Fowles which is all about a recluse who kidnaps and imprisons a female neighbour - but it's no different to stories you hear now again in the news and is probably now not nearly as shocking as when it was written I think probably 40 or 50 years ago. |

I don't agree. However, what he has tried with the players he has at his disposal has not worked. The 64 million dollar question is whether he can conjure what will work for us with the limited resources he has at his disposal. |

Yeah we need to keep Marti. He's done well given the hand he has been dealt. 66% dodgy new signings and a couple of our best players on paper unable to do more than 2 games in a row, Definitely need to keep Marti. |
 | Forum Reply | Sheffield utd v Cov at 21:37 28 Mar 2025
Cov really don't have much about them. We need Frank to stay there next season. They will be beatable next season. You can see the disconnect in its very early stages. Sheff U, I will be more than happy for them to go up just to see Wilder sacked again when they are in the bottom three and Robinson getting a taste of his own medicine. |

Bit left field but I would go with Alfie Lloyd on the left in this one. I can't see Smyth or Yang adapting to the left side in the absence of Saito and Chair and Lloyd has played there before and done well. Hope Marti thinks about it. |

Er, because you kind of shouldn't perpetuate racist / stereotypical images Only been advocating that line for what is it, 20 - 25 years now ..... |

With the added expectation that various 'celebrities' having spent the last two weeks practicing some shit dance routine is another reason why we should cough up. |

Well done to him for bringing this up. He makes some valid points. More educaction needed on personal mental health - unlikely to happen however owing to the way mankind is going and the trend towards social institutions (football, the mass media, Governments, social media) becoming omnipotent [Post edited 19 Mar 13:26]

Frey was my man of the match. He put in an incredible shift and gave us hope up front all game. I thought Colback and Edwards both did well but neither made any surging runs forward like Varane can on occasions. |

Top man. He managed it well today. You could see that he had done his homework, getting us organised and making sure we got the challenges in when Leeds had the ball and attacking their back four including the slightly dodgy captain through Frey, Saito and Smyth, He was possibly a bit economic with the truth in saying that Saito's red card was harsh. But by the same token he reined it in a bit saying Frey played 'pretty well'. I thought Frey was outstanding. |

Very good interview. Understands the hole we are in and that we need to get out. I hope Stainrod's Elbow gets what he has to say about not only looking at the negatives but being balanced. Finally, I really hope Marti's match day management reflects his comments in this interview with a good, positive starting XI and good substitutions which have positive effects. |

I'd agree if we had someone to replace him, but we haven't: Morgan - too raw Madsen - too scared Andersen - too slow Saito - too peripheral Dembele - too early |
 | Forum Reply | The Boro Match thread. at 09:39 12 Mar 2025
Morgan should have been rested last night. It is an indictment on Madsen that he cannot step in and allow Morgan to rest. He is a kid (Morgan). He should be learning his trade and maturing in the Devt Squad, not shouldering the responsibility of carrying our midfield in away games against top 6 Championship teams. Need Andersen and Madsen to step up and actually do what they are being paid big bucks to do. |

I'll be there but making sure I have other things planned for the weekend to take away the depression. |

But why are we STILL allowing this to happen ? The due diligence appears to be worse than when Sir Les was bringing players in. We are still getting mugged off by players and agents. It's farcical. |
