Doesn't matter, they've now won. Unlike us, they've signed a decent number of experienced players for this league, manager who knows what's required to survive in this league and don't look like being a soft touch. Kelman will score his share of goals. [Post edited 9 Aug 14:38]

It looks spineless, shapeless and probably end up looking largely clueless. Hope I'm wrong and will eat the proverbial if so. However, contrast that with Preston's experienced starting eleven with the physically imposing Smith and Osmajic up top, useful bench and that fills me with dread. [Post edited 9 Aug 14:50]

Correct decision too. Kiefer Moore has been giving Ronnie some headaches early on. I'd still have him back with us nevertheless. |

Don't know if all their strikers are available, but if they are, I fear that they will bully our central defenders especially if Cook and Dunne are unavailable. Smith signed from Sheffield Wednesday, Jebbison on loan from Bournemouth, Osmajic could make it a very physical and uncomfortable afternoon for Mbengue, if selected, and others. 1-2 defeat. Me too. Yet they know better. However, the current parlous situation in which the club finds itself, I would rank him higher than many of the young pups that we have tried in a defensive midfield role during pre-season. As well as the likes of Mbengue, who some seem to believe can play there at championship level; I don't. [Post edited 6 Aug 10:50]

Brook and Bethell. More Bethell for me, as Brook managed a ton, which alongside Root, got us to the cusp of victory. I agree, based on the stats for the series being largely dominated by Indian players: batting and bowling, India merited the drawn series. Credit to both teams who have clearly demonstrated that this form of cricket is nowhere near dead. Even more so when one takes into the account the ridiculously narrow schedule/window in which the five matches were played. All because of something called 16.4. Well done both teams. That's about all we're missing. I fail to see how any of our league opponents in the so-called "easier" phase of the season will view us as a daunting challenge. |

Yates is no stand-out striker, yet he still managed to score 10 goals in the championship last season. One fewer than Burrell in league one with similar traits in other facets of the game but honed in the championship. I'm not necessarily saying that we shouldn't have signed Burrell, but I'd much rather Yates over some of the names currently being linked to us as possible forward options, none of whom has any experience of the championship and are unproven in terms of their ability to score goals at this level. Yates has scored 15, 9 and 10 in his three seasons in the championship for struggling teams in two of those terms. At present, I can only see us struggling to stay in this league next season and that kind of experience might have helped. [Post edited 2 Aug 8:16]

So true. It's crazy that everything stops at the altar of 16.4. A form of the game that's not played anywhere else in the world. It also applies to the county championship. The one month when schools are closed, parents and children have more free time and the game doesn't look to maximise this opportunity at all cricket grounds. What makes it worse for a county cricket fan of Essex, one of the many smaller/unfancied teams, is that all of the bigger grounds will be in use for the majority of August. Whilst the grounds for teams such as Essex, Kent, Worcestershire, Somerset etc are lying dormant for 28 days out of the 30 available, in some instances. It's no surprise that the financial gap is widening between those staging the 16.4 and those that aren't. [Post edited 1 Aug 14:41]

Ryan Manning. Nourry bangs on about bringing younger players through to play at championship level. He'll have to go some to have his class(es) of 2024 & 2025, match what has preceded. Eze aside, there are a decent number of players that started at QPR and have played quite a significant number of championship games to date, either entirely for us or in conjunction with other teams at this level.. Ryan Manning 240 championship games Seny Dieng: 168 championship games Joe Lumley: 152 championship games Ilias Chair: 245 championship games Paul Smyth: 106 championship games Os Kakay: involved in 98 championship games Out of the younger players currently at the club, two of the most able with the potential to forge decent careers at championship level, pre-date Nourry: Walsh and Kolli. Considering how difficult it is at championship level, I don't think that's a bad return by the club on players that they have helped to develop into becoming championship capable. That's in spite of a number of others being poached by bigger clubs before they had the chance to play for us at first team level. [Post edited 1 Aug 11:40]

In fact, your season ticket prices are lower than QPR's. Palace have frozen their seson ticket prices too and are comfortably below QPR's. If I were to buy a new gold season ticket at QPR it would cost £817. I believe your highest price is about £815 and Palace's is about £790! It's no surprise they have about 18,000 season ticket holders to consistently bring the noise. Millwall's highest season ticket price: circa £600. [Post edited 31 Jul 0:53]

I thought that getting rid of Paal was the panacea to all of our largely exaggerated ills down that side. Larkeche and the next Roberto Carlos were/are both upgrades. Eustace is no slouch, as evidenced by his record at this level at Brum, Blackburn and Derby. The latter were seemingly a lost cause and virtually nailed-on for relegation. If he thinks that left-backs/wing-backs of that calibre are needed to navigate an arduous championship season, I'm inclined to side with his judgement, on account of his impressive record to date at this level and achieved at clubs with clear challenges. It would appear that we have signed this player based on a goalscoring purple patch from January to April 2025. That's an incredibly small sample size to part with over £1m. [Post edited 26 Jul 22:05]

They also have a ground that has a capacity of 27,000 and will get crowds in the region of 20,000 comfortably. They averaged the same as us last year in division one. So we've now signed an inferior version to Kelman from Burton Albion in divison one. Certainly in terms of his vastly inferior goals' output compared to Kelman. [Post edited 26 Jul 21:44]

Wonderful. That will be another two players for whom we'll be told that patience will need to be shown as they'll need time to adjust to the rigours of the championship. |

Respectfully, Stokes' bowling effort in the last test served as ample evidence of his willingness to put his body and mind through the "ringer" by bowling nearly a third of the overs in India's second innings. In fact, it has been an excellent team effort to date, with a very impressive opening partnership from Crawley and Duckett. It was a shame that neither managed to get to a deserved century, as the opener's lot is a tough one, but they laid the foundations for what now looks likely to become a significant lead and will, I believe, lead to a series clinching victory. He has to remain at right-back, as the other so-called options: Adamson, Bennie aren't good enough to feature on a regular basis for a team playing at league two. [Post edited 25 Jul 14:18]

Agree completely. A player who not only knows this league but also managed to score 11 premier league goals for Luton. Good signing by Derby and there's a lower risk attached to that signing than our apparent decision to sign Ba from Schalke along with the injury-prone player from Colchester: Tovide, whose numbers in league 2 are hardly stellar. Both players being seemingly signed at the expense of nigh-on 50 plus league games played last season and now physically strong and fit Kelman. Wouldn't be surprised if one of the few real talents from the development squad: Kolli, goes too. [Post edited 25 Jul 9:36]
