I found a couple of images of Brian in a programme for the game against Aston Villa on 20 Aug 1977 (we lost 2-1, Brian came on as a sub for Gerry Francis apparently)
The first one says it is of the Rangers squad at the beginning of the season as they fly off to Belgium before beating Derby and AEK Athens to win the Bruges Tournament Cup.
If you want me to try and get better quality versions of this images, drop me a message and I'll get one of the kids to help me!
According to Gordon Macey's record book, Brian played 19 league, 2 FA cup and 2 league cup games for Rangers.
[Fcuking hell.. now rummaging through my old programme boxes and reviving all sorts of old memories... seeing my old man's handwriting on the team lineup pages is making me a bit emotional. And I just found a copy of "Ooh, I Think It's My Groin!" fanzine... no work being done this afternoon!]
I think the issues with our start to the season are just all about fitness and conditioning and nothing much to do with JS and the coaching team. I reckon if the squad was in good physical shape, we may well have beaten Preston and pinched a draw yesterday.
Yes of course we would still be questioning some selection decisions and highlighting issues with overall quality in some areas, but by and large it's just the physical state of the squad that seems all wrong to me.
If this is all a cunning plan devised by some people with planet-size brains to have us in peak physical shape for the run-in next spring, then I must be a rock throwing neanderthal because it makes zero sense whatsoever to me.
