Dan James to sign new deal
at 21:57 18 Feb 2019

He's a very good prospect but you can't be serious with the Sterling comment?

Sterling is 24, has played over 200 Premier League games scoring more than 60 times for two of the best clubs in the world in that time, has nearly 50 caps and played in a World Cup semi-final. Yet you're saying that a lad who's played a handful of Championship games, and is only 3 years younger, is a better prospect??!!

Now I like Dan James as much as the next Swans fan but, come on!

Some great points already made on this thread regarding the spotting of "talent" at such a young age. The fact is, it is literally impossible to spot a player at U6 and be able to predict whether they will become a professional footballer 10-12 years later, yet it doesn't stop professional clubs from conducting trials at that age....something the Swans did last week.

Just to put this into context, most of the children in these trials will have only played a handful of organised games as the U6 fixtures didn't start at PlayFootball or Meadow View until Sunday just gone.

It literally has become a race to the bottom with zero thought for the social and psychological development of these kids, they're commodities and that's it, and at an age where they still believe in Santa Claus!

Someone has already pointed out that the club would have been better off getting rid of their development squads below the age of U12 not above it! IMO the better system would be to allow children to play with their friends and local representative sides (i.e. schoolboys) until they're at least U14 and are close to having the psychological ability of dealing with the expectations and pressures of being involved with an elite club. It would be far better for the standard of local clubs if a cluster of teams were allocated a development officer from Swansea City who assisted, now and again, with training sessions, provided advice to coaches and helped to raise the levels of coaching/playing across the area as a whole. That way everyone benefits, not just a select few.

I could rant for hours on this subject as it's been a big part of my life for the past 16-17 years but if you want a summation and an example of my experiences then watch the documentary "No Hunger In Paradise". The whole system is f@cked.

World Cup, who do we fancy?
at 22:53 11 Jun 2018

That Denmark kit is up there with my all time favourites.

I can remember virtually all of that a World Cup which, considering I was only approaching my 6th birthday, is incredible really! That Danish team was incredible with Laudrup, Molby, Sivaebek, Elkjaer, etc. A brilliant World Cup.

I got as far as “We were competing better than them”

We weren’t. They had 2 or 3 men around the ball whenver we had it, we were doing our normal trick of retreating as deep as possible and allowing them to pass it around at will.

Their press was co-ordinated, ours was a case of the person closest to the ball chasing after it on his own.

We were tactically outclassed by Mark Hughes....Mark Hughes ffs

Who is the most famous person you have met?

Kevin Spacey believe it or not, randomly at a friends house in Hackney. You can insert whatever pun you like here but it was bizarre encounter to say the least.

In a footballing sense, definitely John Charles.

Former Swans Shareholder Rob Davies Says Club Is Heading For Oblivion
at 15:56 2 Jan 2018

I’ve only made it to Page 5 of this thread but, to summise, what I think E20Jack is getting at is that if Jenkins was to resign/get sacked now it may lead to us getting relegated this season which would then be the supporters fault because they forced him out?

Nothing to do with the f@cking dreadful transfer windows over the past few seasons, the terrible managerial sackings/appointments or the selling of shares to an American hedge fund? Rightio then.

He comes across like your run-of-the-mill Cardiff City fan, desperate to cling on to perceived team success at any cost. Remember when they were happy to accept a complete overhaul of their identity just for 5 minutes of fame in the Premier League? E20Jack’s opinions are exactly the same.

On a similar note, I took my son to the cinema on Wednesday, it was the first time I’d been down to Parc Tawe in months. Credit where it’s due, the area around Plantasia, Odeon and the new Denny’s restaurant is a massive improvement on what was there previously.

It was the Havant & Waterlooville FA Cup game around 10 years ago that he announced his arrival as an absolute shambles of a referee! I don’t remember the full game but didn’t Orlando get seriously injured from a 2 footed challenge that went completely unpunished and then sent Alan Tate off for next to nothing late on, before H&W equalised very late in the game?

I remember it being one of the most disgraceful refereeing performances I’d ever seen, and it soon transpired that he was being fast-tracked by the FA tO the top leagues of professional football.

All refs have shockers but he, in particular, seems to be pretty consistent in that regard.

They weren’t even 50-50’s, he gave decisions to them that were literally shoulder to shoulder challenges. I would have been disappointed if they’d have been given in my sons Under 13 games where there is a certain amount of leeway given. There were times today when he had his whistle in his mouth, ready to give a free kick, before a challenge had even taken place.

Plenty of other gaping holes!

Why the f@ck would he have stopped to help Gregory out and, more ridiculous, was the end of the episode when we find out that has trapped in the trailer with Negan...he's got a machine over his shoulder, against a guy with a baseball bat, why wouldn't he just unload on him?!

Dav, I'm pretty sure that the 3rd building that was being referred to was WTC7. This one...

I'm like many on here who feel that some of the official story just doesn't add up. The collapse of this building being one of those.

No it's absolutely not, but would you agree that as the leader of (arguably) the most powerful nation on earth, he has a responsibility not to fan the flames with ridiculous rhetoric spouted via a social media channel?

I'm still staggered that the people of America voted in such a strange, obnoxious, simple-minded individual. Dav thinks he's alright though, so I suppose I should rest easy!
