The greatest Briton of all time according to most objective and subjective lists is Winston Churchill who once said, amongst other controversial things: "I do not admit for instance, that a great wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America or the black people of Australia. I do not admit that a wrong has been done to these people by the fact that a stronger race, a higher-grade race, a more worldly wise race to put it that way, has come in and taken their place." He also once described Palestinians as ‘barbaric hordes who ate little but camel dung’.
Despite this, I still believe Churchill is the greatest Briton ever to walk this green Earth.
It's hard not to compare it when women’s national soccer teams often play against U15 boys’ teams in friendly training matches. U15 boys typically have similar speed and strength. This gives the women’s team a faster-paced and more physically demanding match, helping them prepare for international play against other top women’s teams. Playing against quicker opponents forces tighter decision-making, faster passing, and better positioning. The boys gain valuable experience playing a seasoned, professional-level team with better tactics and game sense. But unfortunately, the women do tend to lose quite heavily - most recently the Swiss team's 7-1 shellacking versus an U15 boy's team which drew a lot of attention, especially since there were allegations the Swiss FA attempted to prevent this embarrassing result from being exposed, but one of the U15 team released the video of the game.
Same. Forgot this thing was even on. Seems like a dress rehearsal of the inevitable European Super League circle jerk between clubs that are now owned by the Yanks and Gulf Petrostates.
While there is an inescapable dose of "right-wing conspiracy nuts" as you call them on X, there's a more than healthy amount of far-left conspiracy nuts on there too, so I find it balances itself out. Funnily enough, those far-left conspiracy nuts all announced they were leaving X back in November '24 but seem to have all flocked back to X for some reason.
I tend to stick to entertainment and sports accounts only and tend to filter all the madness out, but even there you'll find outliers.
Guy Ritchie's latest show MobLand on Paramount + has been superb so far. Not quite as good as The Gentlemen - this one's much bleaker, with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren on top form.
