It is pretty clear that both current options are poor. Bobby Wales has had 1 game and gets a goal and an assist. He played regularly in Scotland. Why not give him more of a chance? But, after spending millions on the midfield and offloading 3 forwards that we had spent around £6m on, for very little return. It seems a very unfortunate position to be in with a week of the transfer window left and the key position left unfilled.
I know quite a few people who were season ticket holders for many years who have now stopped. There is a small number that wouldnt support the previous owners and there is a larger proportion who got fed up with the dross served up by Martin, Duff and Williams. They will probably return if how the team perform improves. That's not just results but entertainment. Swans fans are used to a mediocre side not winning every week. But, they don't want to be bored for 90 minutes and then told it was a great performance
I would agree. It all looked so promising until they kicked a ball. You know it's not going to be a great season when we start with Fulton in midfield. The Brighton lad woukd have been ideal but seemingly he isn't coming. There is still time but the signings have dried up and the matches have started.
We hear that disjointed preseason story every year. It's the same for every club. Everyone brings in new players preseason. We were awful preseason. We were poor first game. Our forwards aren't up to much and the right back is a liability. There is still time to turn it around
Sheff Utd just got battered 4-1 at home by Bristol. Why are we not expecting anything against them at home? If we are not expecting 3 points from that then we are accepting mid-table at best already
I woukd question whether Richard Kone is better than Jusuf Erabi based purely on Kone having only played at League 1 level whereas Erabi is in the Swedish premiership and Champions league qualifiers. Both have a similar goals per game ratio.
Without transfer fees what is the incentive for a club to develop players? At the moment we have an academy in the hope that some of those players will become first team players or fetch a fee. If there are no fees and a player can quit their contract at any point, then where is the return on investment?
If players can then "hand their notice in", then where does that leave transfer fees? Why would a team pay £100m for someone who can then quit their contract and no longer be of any value to the club? It could result in the clubs getting nothing and the players getting everything. Until clubs go out of business and there is no longer a need for players
What we need now is a showboating 20+ goals and season striker to really fire up interest in us globally. Trundle with Snoop Dog and Modrics global reach would have been a huge star
He is probably on as much money as Sheehan if not more. If his only value is in his helping out in training, then that's a very expensive cheerleader. As for strikers, we paid £2m for Yates and we woukd now struggle to get £800k. We spent £2m on Bianchini and he now needs a season in League 1!! There has been an awful lot of money wasted.
