Really backing Madsen to push on this season, his technical ability clearly not in question and in the interview he looks about twice the size so clearly has been putting in a lot of gym work this summer. If that helps him deal with the physicality of the league there's surely a player in there [Post edited 16 Jul 9:40]

I agree 100%, that's all it is. The PIF being the direct funder of this tournament who have been involved in numerous weird deals with Chelsea's Clearlake in the past. It just stinks |

Yeah that injury isn't great at all, I think it's the perfect time really, Cook being around for the year can help with the transition. You want your captain to be available and with Jimmy playing every minute available last season is there any better choice?
I think it's wild for some to claim Cook would be upset with any of this, what has he shown in his time here other than being the absolute professional? We're not dealing with a petulant character and it's already said this was done with his support. It won't make him any less of a leader and there is still the leadership group with Field and Chair. I think we'll be alright |

The amount of back handed comments in this reply alone might be why I think you're bad faith towards him. You can talk about his injury record at a young age being concerning, that he needs to develop further and find his natural position. But I'm sorry I can't engage with theories that he was conducting a social media campaign, lying about his feelings for the club and not caring or working hard. I'm not sure what you're on about with a social media campaign and him just calling in sick to avoid playing. This reply just seems really bad faith to be honest.
If you didn't know, his original contract was due to expire this summer. Any calls for a new contract, was due to this expiring and losing him on a free would have been awful business. The club have a strategy now to lock in our assets to long term contracts to protect us from this. Any interest in January would have been with that free transfer in mind |

There was fog, okay we'll take that performance away. Also Norwich "wasn't up for it", okay we'll take take one away too. We'll take the others away because they wasn't vs T12 teams in the league. How far is this going to go?
I'd take interest from Lille, Monaco, Dortmund and Celtic as an indication of how he is viewed as a player |

Also a goal and assist vs Premier League Leicester, why leave that out?
I just can't quite believe we're downplaying a 19 year old's achievements because it's not vs "good teams". We're QPR, you know we normally lose to these types, it's the championship ffs, the league with the biggest cliche aka "NO EASY GAMES!!!"
I'm trying to be nice but if you can easily dismiss any good performances vs the likes of Norwich who have a squad value 3x ours and have made 50m in sales in the last year, I'm not sure what will please you to be honest |

Sorry to piggyback off your comment again, but yeah you're right. The qualification is done by a league points table from last 4 seasons of Champions League performances. Anything domestic has no implication on this.
I just have a feeling that this was a test run for the actual World Cup next summer, more likely just an ego trip for Gianni but still. Fans all over the world flying in for a tournament across Mexico, USA and Canada. Can't see anything going wrong at all. |

My comment isn't about that and there is no indication that he wants to leave so I'm not sure it's worth bringing up. All we know is he signed a contract amid interest from Monaco, Lille while mentioning how much he loves the club. He's been here since he's been 8. Regardless of what the Dad says, why believe otherwise?
As for the position, my point is that if he can get back to Winter 2024 form, then he can play anywhere. We're not in a position to turn down that attacking output. If you want my opinion, I think he can play as a striker in home games but for me would be better utilised off the left, cutting in with an overlapping left back. We've seen early examples of this setup in pre season with Esquerdinha used as an attacking left back and the left winger becoming more of a left 10. |

We had a player that went on a run of 5 goals and 3 assists in 12 games (goal involvement every 73 minutes) before injuries curtailed his season. If you have anyone in the squad that can consistently provide this output, I don't think we can be picky about how we fit them in, you just do it |

Don't think you'll find many other players that epitomises QPR like Jimmy. Great choice for me and I think it makes sense as Cook playing out a 46 game season seems very slim at this point. I'm sure there will still be a leadership group with Cook, Chair, Field that will help out.
For any Perpignan travelers this week, the old man may have have printed out 50 odd Jimmy Dunne masks so look out for that on game day. Should be good fun |
