Kone is a fantastic signing on so many levels. Ticks all the boxes for what we need as a forward currently. Current league one player and young player of the year. Has done his bit through the levels. Is on an upward trajectory. Allows Frey to become an impact sub, whenever he is fit again.
All that and with the seemingly global striker shortage, he will only need to get 10-12 goals to be valued at 10mil+ this time next year. So fantastic signing from a business standpoint. It's exactly the type of opportunistic signing we cry out for.
Yes we may have missed the boat on players like Alfie Doughty, Ronnie Edwards, etc. But credit where credit is due to the club if this gets over the line.
Honestly, just when you are feeling like the world is against you as more 'rumours' of the latest injuries keep coming, Rangers go and pull this off (hopefully). Would genuinely be a fantastic signing and excellent business that we could get Burrell and Kone for a similar price to Kelman.
First half we were decent in spells, some good stuffs being played. Liked the look of Mbengue and Burrell. Preston were average and a half decent side will beat them 2 or 3 comfortably.
But genuinely think you can boil that game down to one very simple fact - There just isn't enough depth of quality in this squad. Case in point - a clearance from Preston bypasses our entire spine and puts their striker clean through to finish.
I recognise the challenges of FFP (however loaded and nonsensical they are as a concept in themselves) but this squad is still 5 or 6 short.
Dembele and Poku coming off today also gives me palpitations. Please don't say they are injured too or that will be even more of our favourite players that we won't see.
Thank you Kensal, Steve and Rsole. Seriously made me laugh with the competive advantage and length of contract comments. Steve you know what the answer is to the seat backs issue... Dig down.
I just wanted to send out a quick message to say hello - my name is Jack Whitehead and I have been reading content and enjoying it on here for the past number of years. (Favourite cheese is Manchego, in case anyone is interested)
Some of you may have seen that there was a story on the website a few weeks ago about putting yourself forward to join the Supporter Advisory Board that is being setup, following EFL guidance. I have been lucky enough to get through to the final, election stage as an individual candidate (not officially linked to a fan or media group).
The election story will be going live on the club website shortly, where all the candidates have written bios, etc. Voting will then be open for two weeks to all season ticket holders and members. I have written a little nod in my bio to one of the classic posts on here in recent times (the infamous 'Bobby Z in '89' line), as something of an acknowledgement to LFW and all the great people on here.
I don't have any social media footprint, so am hoping people vote for me based on enjoying what I have written in my election bio piece. But I wanted to put something on here so that you knew that one of the candidates is on here and wants to have the opportunity to represent you all, voice your concerns, etc.
Thanks to all for considering me, if indeed you do decide to vote. Wishing all a great rest of the day.
This is starting to read like a thesis someone is working on. Or playing the man and not the ball. Or getting a poll started up.
For what it's worth I'm a home and awayer but sadly wasn't in Perpignan - and this does indeed reflect my opinion. Fully behind Stephan but loved Marti for the job he did in difficult circumstances. Nothing more, nothing less.
Totally agree, we have been crying out for some of that. Pressing high is exactly the sort of trait that creates opportunities for the following in of Chair, Poku, Dembele, etc.
Would also agree that Celar could very well be gone sooner rather than later.
Nkada looks like an excellent player, so would be very pleased if this is true, especially when we have just added Burrell's pace into the mix from out of nowhere.
Never heard of him but a quick look on YouTube at his more prolific time at Grenoble was a much more promising watch.
Looks like a willing runner, dropping deep to link play kind of forward. The sort that would be the perfect accompaniment to a Kelman-type finisher. Would personally be disappointed to lose Kelman at this stage but hands are tied if he won't sign a new deal.
I have tried my best to not write a reply on this thread but am unable to hold off any longer. Measured posts from NewBee and E15 pointing out inconsistencies and general nonsense have inspired me. Thank goodness for our cult-like group think that so many of us suffer from on this forum.
There are too many ridiculous claims in this thread. The main one is "Am writing an article". First point; who is the readership for an "article" which is effectively and unashamedly an attempt to blow smoke up one's ar5e. This from the classic poster who demonstrates this insatiable attention-seeking by metaphorically jumping on a soapbox and unleashing his long words that us unwashed masses could never hope to understand. Goodness help you if you disagree, get back to your cult, etc etc.
A remarkably pathetic thread, once again, that has fulfilled its purpose by sufficiently winding up as many regular Joes who just come here to catch up with Rangers chat from a collection of tremendous posters. I realise I'm now fueling this by adding a reply and opening up for the standard response - group think, cult, long words, poll, sourced article from last year, can't get to games, multiple angles.
Only question is which of the classic accounts it will come from when the inevitable pompous reply does come. Probably just as this thread is about to drop off the first page again.
I know I should just ignore him, so please excuse me for this outburst!
Please excuse me if I am wrong, but I believe the lean Taylor Richards that is being referred to could actually be Emerson Sutton. I can see Sutton in the videos but haven't seen the lesser-spotted Richards?
Would assume that the new deal added a year or two to current deal and maybe even the inclusion of a release fee.
Varane is our next £15m+ sale in a year or so. He can be that good. It stuns me that there seems to be a good number of us who still can't see it with him. Given it was his first season in a new country/one of the toughest leagues, I think he did really well.
That first year under his belt will really help him kick on next year.
