And that's exactly why we want him on board 👏👍👏 |

I wonder what he thinks of you 🧐? |

Absolutely. There's also the possibility of him being offered the job but deciding not to take it. |

I think you've nailed it there. The subtle (but critical) difference is that Sheehan is working with what we already have; the new manager will also be expected to be a major reason as to why a new player wants to sign/play for us. So in that respect contacts and an ability to promote a vision will be important. |

Ok. |

Your final comments echo very strongly with me too. My interest has been on the wane for the last few years, and I'm wondering if it's due in part to the fact that teams that are being bankrolled to win everything are slowly sucking the life out of the game for the rest of us. |

I totally agree. I struggle to understand what the pro-Martin supporters saw/see in him. I can't speak for you, but the apathy I feel these days stems directly from his time at the club. |

How have you arrived at that conclusion? What's your rationale? |
 | Forum Reply | Leeds v Sunderland at 17:55 18 Feb 2025
Why do people correlate the level of support with where a team should be in the football hierarchy? Such an arbitrary comparison. |

"We were competitive in the first half and absolutely appalling in the second half." Aside from that genius observation, he talks like we fans do, i.e. as if he's observing an event he can do nothing about. It's like he's forgotten that he's the one in charge! |

The 750 million figure was only an example, just for me to to show the workings of the scheme. It would have to be set by the League at the start of each season, taking things like inflation into account. If City sold Haaland to another club for 250 million, it would then be a matter for the receiving club to work out how to play him in combination with other players they might have purchased. But the value of the players wouldn't be set by anybody, much as it is now. I think it would help to turn the heat down in terms of costs, and prevent clubs from over-reaching whilst encouraging their own talent. No doubts they'd have whizz-kid legal and financial experts working out how to find way around it, but for me it would be step in the right direction. |

For me: 1) Keepers that time waste when holding the ball - award a corner to the attacking side. 2) Players trying to gain an unfair advantage by not taking a throw-in from the correct spot, i.e. running yards up the pitch from where the ball went out. Change the rules so it's a corner to the opposition if you infringe in your own half. If you infringe in your opponent's half. they are awarded a goal kick. I get fed up seeing yards gained by players persistently trying to run past where the throw-in was awarded. 3) Premier League & Championship Clubs should name an 18-man "FA Cup squad" and only be allowed to select from those players in that tournament. So then it's up to them whether they want to take the competition seriously. 4) Premier League Clubs - limit the total value of the XI on the pitch at any one time. So let's say for example, the maximum value of the players is £750 million. But this limit would only to apply to players bought by the club: there would be no limit on their own home-grown players, so they can have as many of these on the pitch as they want. This would encourage clubs to develop and blood their own talent, but limit the super wealthy sides from just being able to put out on a team of mega stars each week. Also, it would make substitutions more tactical. |
