I was being a tad facetious and would expect the booths to be out side if anywhere, the shop was quite busy in both the games held so far, even though less area is allotted to Osprey merchandise, it does seem as if savings trying to be made at the ground are being counter productive resulting in the drop in quality of service being provided and discouraging sales of all the good on offer be it tickets, food, drink and merchandise. Will they put one of the external ticketing booths inside the shop? |

Using my mobile for the Crawley and Lorient games clicking on the tickets for the events you get the picture of the stadium and it looks as it you can choose your seats but you have to use the Use Map button below first to enable you to use it. Even then to navigate the map is a bit hit and miss given the touch control, but that could be my phone. Sorry if it sounds obvious but even after using the stadium map for quite a number year my automatic reaction is to try picking the seats off the first view of the stadium presented not using the button below for me that button should be above the map. Against Middlesbrough our defence of the low corners or corners whip into the front post area was poor , for me once the ball has left the corner takers foot all eyes should be on the ball while keeping track of the player you are marking to ensure you get your challenge in first be it your foot or head and NOT be with your back to the ball trying to grab and out muscle the taller attacker, for me that should be a penalty all day long but lots of defending teams get away with it. I hope that gets rectified on Saturday, the defending bit not the awarding of a penalty. |

Didn't take chances when under pressure and with a bouncing ball up field clearance was his preferred option, when he had time he sometimes brought it down under his control, looked as if he could have brought it down more but brave enough to clear instead of brave enough to take risks as some managers bang on about, taking risks should be left to when we are further park trying to get back into games provided we have sufficient players with pace to cover, not when we are in control of games, good incisive pass helped by good movement helps reduces the risks. Competent performance by him to relieve some of the worries about weaknesses in the back line and strength in depth. |

Think30 minutes would the least Wales would be expecting given what he and us have seen up top preseason and the first league game and the league Cup game. Will need time to adjust the the championship but on tonight's showing the sooner he is full up to speed the better but we cannot just rely on the one striker. As for the other end of the pitch thought Sam Parker did OK and Kaelan Casey played seemingly within himself so things look a better I defence although I am worried about the issue that Cabango has, one good thing Arther Parker also getting back on the pitch under Sheehan instead of being thrown under the bus as some other managers have done. |

Just happy for the win. New players getting good minutes, goals from players in positions you want to see them scoring, Ronald on the back post and yes he missed the seemingly easier chance, Wales controlling the ball getting it into a position to shoot, not hit with a lot of power but accurate enough, and a midfielder on the edge of the box shooting. We beat what was in front of us, it surprises me that fans moaned about some of the substitutions complaining about the best players going off but we have players who started who had injury issues. Should have been a game where they shouldn't have got the the goal to make things a bit nervous but it ended similar to last years game in the 1st round of the cup against Gillingham . |

Thing is his name has been mentioned last year and not getting on the bench and then game time instead we had players sitting on the bench, one because we didn't struggle in certain positions and two the manager wasn't prepared to use them because of percieved lack of ability or just not liked by the manager. I would start the likes of Sam Parker to see if he develops from the off not slotted into a struggling team that is not functioning properly for nominal 10mins. |

Hoping Burgess takes control in the centre of the defence if there is a target man in the centre for Middlesbrough then it will be up to him to deal with him, similarly if their wingers stay out wide so do our full backs if the ball has a chance of going anywhere near them. Against Lorient in the first half we were so passive giving their players room to strolled about and passing the ball through us at will. Want to see more of a performance akin to the second half although being a little bit more careful about committing our defenders forward making sure cover is in place when they do. I wonder if Fulton will slot into the defence, Cullen drops into midfield with Wales slotting in up front or will Cooper start and Cullen stay up top to keep our more experienced players on the pitch from the off? |

Hoping in the game today, after the requirement to look at various options in the run up games because of injuries and percieved lacking in depth of the squad that Sheehan has enough insight to keep us competitive at the start of the game while able to keep strong enough to see out the game strongly as substitutions are made. Sheehan hasn't always picked what a lot of fans may think of as the best starting first eleven trying cover areas of weakness before and after substitutions. First league game of the season will Middlesbrough come at as from the off or will their manager urge his team to start with some caution. Sheehan has shown in away games that he will keep the midfield and defence solid but have the players got the strength and enough experience to deal with the demands required. We have some quality players on the pitch lets hope they cut out the silly errors and can gel quickly with purpose in defence and have an incisive attacking threat. New season new hope. COYS |

Gol ook up the BBC report on last nights game it all sounds very familiar reading, then again don't because you have heard it all before, attack maybe the best firm if defensive but you need to defend properly as a game develops |

In the Lorient friendly game queues to get in the west stand turnstiles 6-10 not really an issues but queues inside for pre-ordered refreshments off the electronic system but it looked as if each order weren't being prepared before each person with an ordered got to the front of the queue, didn't bother with ordering refreshments (which luckly was not available on the East Stand concourse last season). The service is a lot better in the Mel Nurse Bar and you have free WiFi there. Good quick service and free WiFi are a minimum expectation in any part of the ground. At one time a drink at half time was the norm, no.point now on the East concourse as you don't get time to drink it. And the cost. Edit.. Sorry more of a rant to add to Whiterockin's rant rather than your Cawl post. [Post edited 6 Aug 9:35]

O'Brien looked to see if he could manoeuvre himself and the ball, in relation to opposition players trying to close him down, to turn and get the ball forward, he had the pace to then step away from those players to give himself time to pick his pass and then quickly get it away as players tried to chase him down not holding onto the ball too long. He also choose the right time to go forward or drop into the slot left in defence by our defenders as they moved forward it meant he was always on the move looking at where the spaces on the pitch were and made his decision accordingly, did he get it right all the time of cause not but his movement help other make descions as they got on the ball. Let's not forget Franco is just as adept hope Galbraith can fit in maybe even Widell on or even Eom to make the third man in the midfield to make us better going forward through the middle but also make the middle stronger and function properly in defence.you have to stop the opposition midfield running a game. Are we going to have the same problem with Santos as we did with Pedersen and if Cabango calf injury is a niggling there is a good chance of him only able to play one game a week and even then 90mins might be a push so that needs to be resolved, Parker struggled with the big Lorient centre forward but maybe Burgress should have taken the responsibility of marking him, happy to give Parker time to develop but we still need more options in the centrehalf position to be able to cope with the demands of the Championship and additional height in our back line seems required. If we can acquire a quick versatile young player then maybe a permanent signing would be advisable unless there is someone in our younger squads who could make the step up. |

Inoussa did look a handful but then again so did Ronald movement when he first came here, Inoussa's first touch does looks good. Our change in mentality in the second half of the Lorient game meant players getting tight, making challenges, runners through the middle of the park which dragged the opposition into the centre of the pitch leaving space out wide, who we tried to find quickly and given the runners in the middle the wingers had someone to play into which was non existant the first half where Fulton sat deep and Galbraith pushed far forward or ended out on the wing basically getting in the way of Widell and Tymon. Both Galbraith and Fulton leaving Franco alone to get overrun in the midfield. What we saw on Saturday was if you get the ball out quickly to the likes of Widell, Ronal, Eom and Inoussa they will cause teams problems but if they don't have players support and movement around them they get marked out of games. You have to be wary as a full back in that when providing support you could be leaving the defence vulnerable so you have to be sure the midfielders while also supporting the winger are in position to also cover the fullbacks runs. The marking in the first half was appalling leaving any press largely ineffective allowing Lorient to casually play through us, they also had good movement that we sat back and admired basically running around in circles, the second half was different, not down to changes in personal but changes in tactics from the off in the second half. Last year under Sheehan the team press as a unit they waited to get themselves into shape and then pressed as a whole closing down the opposition in a methodical way which often meant teams ended up playing the long ball if that happens and the midfield is out of position then opposition forwards can cause enough problems resulting in loose ball for a well set up team to capitalise on. Back to your point on Inoussa yes he may be a better player than Ronald but that is not where our problems lie, Sheehan started with as many 1st team players that he has left at the club that he could, he start with a plan it didn't work, did he change it in the first half? No it was a friendly he wanted to see if we reacted , we should have scored but they had a number of good long range shots that you would expect Vigouroux to cover and they did have chances they should have converted. Sheehan changed things in the second half that made a difference from the off, we had the goal before Eom and Inoussa came on. Lorient still posed a threat which we covered although in a league game I don't think we would of had 11 men on the pitch. Word of note Arthur Parker had a baptism of fire but he with help should learn from the experience. |
