GATESHEAD

That was about as complete a performance as I can remember for the past few years and one that has got everyone sitting up.

You can tell the fans are responding to it, and in turn the players.

All across the pitch there seems improvement and I feel we definitely have some more gears in us when this team gets more comfortable with each other.

I'm intrigued to see how we shape up against some of the bigger sides in the division when those games come (York not too far away) as we haven't had tons of pressure in our opening games and Gateshead especially last night didn't have any answers to our play.

The key for me is Mani D up top - we were crying for a real target man last season. If we go long you know he's at least going to be busy, and more often than not he's getting the first touch, and then when he gets it right he's bringing on an entire forward line ready to attack.

We're also probing through the centre of the park more, feeding into Gilmour and East who are confident to turn on the ball and start the attack.

All round quality performance that will definitely bring punters through the more we can hit that level. But as ever it's a long season and they'll be bumps along the way but we've set the bar now and know what's possible from this side. It's a very exciting time

Side note - I unfortunately need both hands to count the amount of times I've seen opposition teams celebrate on our pitch. Let down time and time again

Completely embarrassing to lose that - part timers - for the first time in what feels like forever we had a full house and completely under delivered. If the Ogden's are serious about Dale being serious the talk needs to be less about 'community' and actually setting this side up to win. Add Spennymoor to the list of embarrassments ffs

Couldn’t watch the game but the feel good factor is 100% coming back. Of course results are the best tonic but to see/hear a team playing without fear again is such a joy. Such high hopes for this group

Been a fan for 25 years and this is the most excited/relieved/emotional I’ve been about Dale for as long as I can remember.

I echo what others say that this means more than all the promotions, cup runs and derby wins. It allows us to survive for generations to come.

This also has the potential to be a massive turning point in the clubs history, and it isn’t just about league positions.

For too long Rochdale as a town has been run through the mud by press and people alike. Rochdale’s crap, so we’re crap and by extension our football club, despite all the good we’ve done from a footballing perspective in the past 10-15 years.

I have to admit I’m a sceptic myself and fell into this: “why would anyone invest in little old Rochdale”. We don’t get the right amount of fans in the gates, we’re plucky and just get by.

However our prayers have been answered here and I genuinely feel with the right moves from our prospective new owners this could not only turnaround the football club but bring more to the town as a whole.

We’re never going to be huge spenders (rightly so) but having a community asset that is competitive and doesn’t have to bow down other clubs around us because they’ve got more cash in the bank.

My brother-in-law is a York City fan. They’ve had a very poor season on the pitch, but the people of York back the team week in week out. They average somewhere in the region of 5000 a week nowadays and the atmosphere is fantastic.

We need to put moves in to do the same, coupled with how expensive Premier League football is to watch nowadays smaller clubs like us have a massive opportunity to swell up disassociated fans who are from Rochdale but can no longer afford to watch United, City, Liverpool etc.

I used to dream of coming to a sold out Spotland week in week and for the first time ever I can see this being a possibility. There’s a huge amount of work to do but I will be there for the whole journey starting with buying my season ticket as soon as they are on sale.

This town and team is worth investing in. Up the Dale
