CONTRARY to FIRM BELIEF

He has ability but I wouldn’t pick him.
I expect more commitment than this player has to give.

It either makes complete sense to concentrate all your efforts on the League or the majority of the Championship are fielding weak sides in the League Cup because of some strange shared affliction.

I’ve always assumed it makes complete sense and all the Championship clubs carefully weigh up all the pros and cons, but maybe not?

Keeping a whole squad motivated with some of them having little or no other opportunity must be part of it, injuries another factor. Recovery time probably another very important factor these days with sports science monitoring every aspect of physical performance.

BBC Sport player rating Rs vs PNE
at 11:56 11 Aug 2025

The BBC ratings are very very similar to North's ratings in his report.
BBC higher for Esquerdina 6.42 to 5, otherwise a bit high for Chair, a bit low for Poku, but otherwise just about bang on.

Washington used to drive me mad. Ran around like a headless chicken but rarely in a position to score. This guy is worse. Nothing to do with being the boo-boy or scapegoat. Strikers are there to score goals. Assists are nice, but how many of those does he have?

Rarely scoring strikers seem to be our specialty. Washington, Dykes, Celar. No wonder we struggle.
Cifuentes made the mistake of giving this guy far too many chances. Let’s hope JS doesn’t make the same mistake.

The ‘supporters’ always say if only the team delivered the ball he needs…….

Get rid!

I don't see women's cricket or rugby being hyped.
Perhaps that's the reason for the kickback in football.

I don't have strong opinions on the subject, live and let live, I just wouldn't bother watching women's football apart from important England matches (patriotism). There is so much better sport available to watch.

It's a team sport.
It's football which means insults come with the territory.
The comparative quality of the elite men's and women's games seems obvious and is demonstrated by eg women's games against boys.
Most sports watchers are attracted to the best available - fastest, strongest, most skilful .......
None of which is a good reason to denigrate the female participants but to point out the difference seems fair enough.
Which seems to trigger reactionary support in some men.
None of which is mad just averageish opinions.

Opta’s computer puts the chances of us being relegated at 0.1% I.e. 1 in a 1000.
Amazing that some still want to debate it.
Opta say we are 10 times more likely to finish in the play-offs 5th or 6th.
Which is also not worth thinking about.

We are still 33/1 to go down with eight teams on shorter odds.

It is unlikely that six of those teams will manage to get 47 points +, even if we were to lose all the remaining games, which itself is unlikely having drawn two of the last three.

The Championship being what it is with three quarters of the teams being much of a muchness and results more or less random a win is quite likely to turn up sometime in the next six games. Form doesn't count for much in the Championship.

So easy to say this but so much more difficult to get players who are better and fitter and want to come to QPR.

Well in that case it will get nervy by the Burnley game.
Of course we may have enough points already.
But let’s catastrophize just for the fun of it.

I guess nutters have always been around. It’s just that everybody use to ignore them.
Not a reason to fall out of love with modern football. There are plenty other ones.

Mistake to regard any one league game as more important.
No must win games in early April. Still 21 points up for grabs.
Chill. Wait for a bit of luck and enjoy the game.

Most seasons a point a game is enough. No reason to think this season will be that much different. But hey let's start a panic so we can say it's typical QPR. One win should do it.

Science?

Comes with data analysis both performance and medical I would have thought. Now that everything is monitored.
e.g Chair with his playing style probably tired rapidly after x minutes in the average game so he used to be substituted much to the annoyance and confusion of some fans.

How have things changed so drastically in last ten games
at 16:35 1 Jan 2025

Confidence is a massive factor. So is the sheer randomness of incidents in a match in games between teams of roughly equal ability. Good and bad runs can happen for no other reason imo.
