 | News Comment | The battle for 16th – Preview at 14:48:28
Thanks for your preview. When Preston won the League there were only twelve clubs and no Southern Softies (or Manchester clubs). From Rome to...Preston. Somehow we always end up back at Preston. This leads to soul searching and questions about the meaning of life. At least we can be thankful that it's not a must-win game. |
 | News Comment | ‘In a word, dull’, Preston’s midtable purgatory continues – Oppo Profile at 14:24:54
Thanks to Josh. It's taken us a lot of ups and downs to reach mid-table. Preston just sit there. Looking through the results Preston haven't had any outstanding results against the top sides, so it doesn't look like there will be much to remember from this season. |
 | News Comment | A recipe for success – Preview at 14:47:25
Thanks for your preview. Our broth has been spoiled, our fusion hasn't fused, although I am not sure if that is due to exotic foreign ingredients. Like WestonSuperR, I wonder what kind of side we can put out. At least after the win at Oxford this game is not make or break. |
 | News Comment | And breathe – Report at 14:09:21
Thanks for your report. Missed this one, so I have only seen the highlights, and from the highlights the Oxford keeper looked a real mess. At least there was a bit of class from us for the third goal. 'Flip charts and ring binders ahoy.' Yes, I often wonder what that is all about. It's obviously a fine art. |
 | News Comment | Big week – Preview at 22:08:08
Thanks for your preview. I can remember when those losing streaks started everyone freaking out. Now we're used to them. All our defects have been magnified by our injuries. As Nico says, we are flatlining. We desperately need some inspiration from somewhere. |
 | News Comment | Cardiff’s seven games to scrape survival – Oppo Profile at 21:25:48
Thanks to Phil. There are some similarities with QPR, with big parts of the team not working. The great debate about Willock was whether his form fell away because he was saving himself for his next move (which turned out to be to Cardiff). I was of the opinion that he never recovered from the injury he got at Nottingham Forest, and would never be the same player. |
 | News Comment | Injury hit, on the beach and checked out, QPR soundly beaten at Stoke – Report at 21:06:49
Thanks for your report. Despite the recruitment problems, the lack of creative players (Saito was especially missed), the lack of forwards, and the number of small players we have, special mention has to be made about the horrible weakness on the left side of our defence (Andersen and Paal). Andersen looked completely out of it, and as mentioned on the recent LFW podcast, this looks like worst decline in form since Johansen. Stoke realised they could have a field day down that side and that got them going. QPR meanwhile are just going through the motions. |
 | News Comment | The home straight – Preview at 14:58:50
Thanks for your preview. So, after a nightmare start to the season, we are somehow where we should be. Is this the zen of QPR? (even if you can never really take anything for granted at QPR). Now, at the end of the dreaded March fixtures, we are bottom of the form table. But then so are Stoke. |
 | News Comment | QPR hope history repeats as Leeds visit – Preview at 23:01:05
Thanks for your preview. At the moment it feels like we can't get out of second gear, so it doesn't matter if we are playing against ten men. If it wasn't for that home win against Derby we would be at the bottom of the form table. I agree with WestonSuperR that we need a win from somewhere, but it looks unlikely to be against Leeds, even if they've had a bit of a wobble in recent weeks. |
 | News Comment | As 17-match unbeaten run ends are Leeds going to fall apart again? Oppo Profile at 22:41:09
Thanks to Nico and Gruev. It seems to a bit surreal to be talking about getting rid of a manager who will probably get Leeds promoted, but the current situation of the three promoted teams getting immediately relegated from the Premier League (plus Farke's previous failings in the Premier League) makes this inevitable. Interesting that the fans consider that the team has a better balance this season even though the star players were sold. |
 | News Comment | Defeats mount once more as QPR limp to meek Boro loss – Report at 22:20:12
Thanks for your report. Our wingers looked weak. On our right, Yang gave away the ball which led to the first Middlesbrough goal. On the left Dijksteel easily outpaced Saito, and Saito kept giving away the ball. The second Middlesbrough goal was embarrassing, with Dijksteel strolling through our defence. If it wasn't for that home win against Derby we would be at the bottom of the form table. I wonder if the lack of a reliable goal-scorer is affecting the morale of the team? |
 | News Comment | 24 Hours in A&E - Preview at 19:45:21
Thanks for your preview. The issue with physicality is that it's not something you can just decide for yourself while ignoring the rest of the league. If other teams are physical you need players who can deal with that. We do seem to have a lot of smaller players. This is not to say that all physical teams are good, or that smaller players can't deal with taller players (Luongo had a great ability to come out of tackles with the ball). The fact that we don't have a reliable striker is a separate issue (and a seemingly never-ending one), although perhaps related in that if we had more of an attacking threat the smaller advanced midfield players would be able to get more involved in games (attack being a form of defence). We were always limited, even when we had Celar, and now we don't even have him available. |
 | News Comment | Aims and goals - Preview at 23:23:55
Thanks for your preview. That's a lot of unknowns in terms of next season's players, and it makes you wonder how far a club can progress if it's rebuilding the squad every season. And how far can you progress in a baby vomit kit? We really seem to have lost momentum...our lack of options up front has caught up with us. |
 | News Comment | Is there more than romance to Mowbray’s surprise Baggies return? Oppo Profile at 23:00:19
Thanks to Matt. Losing Corberán in the middle of the season was quite a blow. Mowbray has a consistent record at Championship level, and did a good job with young players at Sunderland, so there's a good chance he will be able to pick up the pieces (and your fear of tarnishing the good memories won't be realised). |
 | News Comment | It’s the economy, stupid – Preview at 14:55:18
Thanks for your preview. Yes, the context is parachute payments which are having a dominating influence on the league (except for Luton). Hard to see us getting anything out of this, but sometimes we come good when all the signs are bad. |
 | News Comment | Blades still in promotion pole despite Leeds setback – Oppo Profile at 14:20:59
Thanks to Oli and Jimmy. A good season so far, a lot of players who have played well, and vindication for Wilder who seemed to have lost his touch. Even if Dunne does go in the summer, there didn't seem to be any point to selling him now as United were not prepared to cough up. One good thing about Jack Robinson at QPR was that he did chip in with goals. |
