Rochdale Sunday League normally have one final there but I think they were told they couldn't this year |

I'm at a bit of a cross roads with him. Last night in some respects I felt we were not a million miles off. We fell off the wagon so to speak with the quality of player available off the bench. People blamed the defence. I felt when Bird went off. We didn't have a player of Bird's style to come on and lost the out ball, the hold up play to give the defence the chance to get out. Mitchell's confidence is shot to pieces, we didn't get Hendo in to the game. Nor did we get any of the other attacking subs in to the game. Was that tactics, tiredness from the shift they all put in or a lack of depth in the squad. I have read all the posts on this thread and there are some very reasoned points both for and against him staying or going. I couldn't find any faults or many things I could disagree with on both sides of the arguments. Trying to look at it rationally. The positives are. This is Jim's first job in management. He has had a tough start by having to stabilise a sinking ship from when we got relegated. Regardless of tactics and style of football. Compared to last season. We have improved on results in all three of the major competitions from last season. Ability wise. I actually believe we have a strong first team and we don't need too much work for next season. I would get us an actual number one goalkeeper who is ours. No more messing around with loans. I'm not expecting us to be able to get Bird back. But we need a centre forward in his ilk and act as a good foil for Rodney. If we can then add a little bit of quality to the bench. I think we could challenge. The downside is when we really needed it. Our teams mentality has been weak by throwing away winning positions. So do we need to add more leadership on the field? The pitch problems didn't help. Meant we had to play too many games in a short period of time leading to increased fatigue and injuries. I agree with the points about when opposition pack defences. We lack ideas and drive. Again coming back to mentality and leadership. There were reports linking Jim to higher up jobs. So people obviously think he has potential. Especially with the tough start he has been given. Like you would with any young player coming through the ranks. He is basically still learning his trade with us. Which isn't mentioned much with inexperienced managers. I think overall he has done a good job. But how high is his ceiling as a manager? Has he taken us as far as he can and a more experienced manager to take us to the next step? Does he have the ability to learn from his mistakes this season and show progression as a manager like you would see with a young player moving from 0-100 games then 100-200 games? Would an experienced mentor working with him help? Kenny Dalglish had Bob Paisley working with him the season Liverpool won the double in 85/86 and I am sure there are other examples of this but non come to mind. As I write this. I think I have moved more in to the keep him camp but he needs to show he can evolve as a coach and not be a one trick pony. [Post edited 16 May 23:12]

Joe Fagan was coach when Harry Catterick was manager I think. He then moved to Anfield under Phil Taylor just before Shankly I think |

York were the best side I've seen at Spotland this season. And it will take a mammoth task to beat them. I don't fear any of the other sides in the playoffs. Strange things can happen though when teams feel the pressure of expectation. |

That's a great site. Its a shame there isn't a little more info around each game. Even something as simple as the teams, scores and scorers. |

I don't think we are a million miles off as a squad, and I don't think the in the main tactics are the issue. Fylde made it extremely difficult break down today. Unless you get the early goal it was always going to be a bore fest. Today we had to be patient. But maybe we were too patient and our final ball was lacking when we did create the opening. As a squad we mis guile, leadership and quality in the final third. There is nobody in the squad who can take the game by the scruff of the neck in attacking areas and make it happen on days like today. If we can rectify this and find a consistent quality goal scorer then I would expect us to be up there. Barnet and York apart. I don't think thee is much between the rest of the top half of the teams in this league. On our day we are capable of beating all of them. But without that leader up front we will toil against those who come for the point |

Agreed. There is too much of a "banter" culture nowadays in football and ridiculing other teams for "the number of fans" or "you only won because of this" First priority should be backing our team, singing songs about our players to get them over the line for the play offs Rather than spending 90 minutes singing about the opposition or teams which aren't even there. |

Listening to the Oldham commentators today and a few of the other team's around the league (Halifax spent 70 minutes calling Waller, Walker) makes you realise, in my opinion at least how good the guys who do ours are. I always find their views honest, balanced and professional. I have only watched the first half today but the Oldham ones were extremely bitter towards the Dale. Yes DAZN uses the local commentary team but they need to be more neutral with their comments. Every time we got a freekick today, "it should have been an Oldham freekick 30 seconds before". When the majority were good challenges with Oldham being caught in possession. |

I can't get to many of the games myself so relay on DAZN on catch up to watch the games. Does anybody know if this game will be available anywhere? I know the club can't stream it live because of the black out laws but I know some of the previous games in this competition have been available. |

I don't post much on here. Mainly because there are people who are more knowledgeable are much more and are more present at the club than I can be. But I wanted to give my thoughts. On the face of it this is everything we have been looking for. A chance to rebuild the club, to the level that was lauded in the media as an example of how to things only five or six years ago. Investment in the infrastructure and environment should certainly make us a more attractive prospect to better players and increase corporate revenues. This will hopefully see the end of the downward trend of the club. I think its right that people are given a clean slate for next season. Gives the new ownership time to see everybody in action and remove anybody that's holding us back. On main thing we are all interested in. We don't know yet, especially on the footballing side. Have we overachieved this season because of the turmoil behind the scenes? Now that we will have a more competitive budget so the pressure will be on to prove that we have the right people leading the club. No doubting the managers passion for the role. He has spoken well this season in some very testing circumstances. Whist not seeing every game. I think he has done well. Whilst there have been a lot of frustrations at our ability to have more conviction on the ball at times. We have shown, when we have had our strongest players available. We can compete with the better teams in the league and the metrics have backed this up. Lack of squad depth has been a killer this season. Having said all that. This will now be his chance to show that he has the ability to take us to the next level and not just a cheerleader/club yes man in charge of the team. |

For the past few years, we have been able to download the fixtures to our calendars ,which update as the fixtures change. Has anybody found a link for this years or is that something the National League don't do? |

Yeah its on BT Sport (or TNT Sports as they are to become in July). They have a live game most weeks I think at 5:30 on a Saturday then an MOTD style program later in the evening |
