Hoping to arrive around 6pm.

Anyone recommend a place to park and a watering hole not too far from the ground ?

Cheers

He was poor at WBA
His stint there was basically over once Mowbray (who signed him) got the sack.

Grealish to Everton means Dibling stays?
at 16:58 11 Aug 2025

I totally get why he wasn't involved this weekend and that is fine with me.

My point is more that once the window shuts and he hasn't moved, he really needs to knuckle down and start getting back into contention for a starting berth. He has the talent for this league - just needs the right attitude !! :-)

Do you even know if the player actually wants to go to Everton ?
......Or indeed anywhere else that his agent may be able to drum up interest from ?

He couldn't hack it 2 years ago at Chelsea, about 70 miles away, so what's to say he would do now at somewhere 250 miles from home ?

He would only be a bench warmer at best if he goes to Everton, or indeed Newcastle / Spurs, so that would probably give him even more reason have a 'questionable attitude'.

If nobody is prepared to pay what we want for him, he needs to start playing again - why waste his talent ?

So, why didn't Ross Stewart start?
at 15:49 11 Aug 2025

I thought we would start the Wrexham game with A Arm on the right of attack, Archer on the left and Steward through the middle, with Fraser, Robinson and Downs used from the bench.

The manager went for 3 CBs and 2 WBs because that was how we were set up for some of the games in pre-season, so that obviously affects how the reset of the team and tactics are chosen.

At least WS made changes early and it was great to see so many forward players on at the end, chasing a result - even if it was a defender that scored the winner !!

It was the first game. The season is long. There will be many opportunities for all players to stake their claims to a starter's shirt, so we shouldn't be writing anyone off just yet.

There is still a lot of deadwood to get rid of in this window and you never know, we may even be able to bring a couple of new signings in. I think someone said we were looking at loan or 2 as well.

Fed Up ? They probably only showed an edited version of the long, drawn-out, pain-stakingly mundane questions fired at him. He is hardly going to give anything away tactically, or confirm who is starting, so let's just see what happens tomorrow night.

Downes was perhaps rushed back into the side, due to the injuries we've had in midfield. He had only been training with the squad in the week leading up to yesterday's game, so was bound to be a little jaded.
Charles did well, but I thought he should have come off on 80 mins. Instead he was used as the single holding midfielder whilst everyone else pushed up !! :-)

Once Fernandez and co was on, the tempo lifted and we were more creative.

A Arm is still having nightmares about his end of first half miss and Downs (who did nothing noteworthy) is the most relieved man in training today after Jack showed him how to finish !!

Will be interesting to see the team selection for Tuesday night.

The underperformed part as you put it, points to a slow start, but could be down to the fact that we were deducted 10 points that season, so we would have finished 5th and made the play-offs.

Granted we only won one of our first 10 games that season, but really pushed after that and finished the season losing just 3 of our last 22 games.

The JPT win gave a tremendous boost to the team and fans.

Apparently the game is being broadcast on both Sky and ITV, so for those not attending, there are 2 different viewing options available, but with both offering p1ss poor commentary and crap studio debate :-)

Think he was signed on loan in about 2015

Don't remember him playing that much, maybe just off the bench, but to be fair, we had quite a good team back then, so he would only have been a squad player if we had signed him.

The only thing I can vaguely remember him doing of note was home to Villa, carrying the ball from the half way line, playing it out wide to Mane, followed by a neat flicked 1-2 with Mane on the edge of the box, who then crossed for Pelle to volley home to make it 6-1.

He will have seen him in the pre-seasons though !!

To be fair, the penalty that JS gave away v Espanyol was extremely harsh. A trailing arm and the defender went down like a sack of sh1t. No VAR, dodgy ref etc......

.....BUT for the assist he supplied their attack for the opening goal, he should have been subbed on the spot and put on the first flight home !! Absolutely ridiculous. He is not a Captain and does not lead by example.

Ipswich away tickets
at 15:57 22 Jul 2025

The game is actually 26 days away.

£43 is indeed steep, but the reality is that we are Category A for most home teams in this league, so tickets are bound to be pricey.

To get a maximum allocation of only 2,001 tickets is a joke though, especially when we got 3,000 last season.

We all know that when Ipswich come to St Marys, they will get 3,000 tickets at about £30.

The train situation is ridiculous. Hopefully one of our group will volunteer to drive !!

A very enthralling and evenly fought test and a vast improvement on the previous disappointment.
At least they now know they can win without having to chase all the time.

Because the Skates have been so shite of late, out of the Prem for 15 years and have languished in 3rd and 4th tiers for the 13 of those 15 years, none of the local youngsters support them as their main team any more. It is Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and they quite like Pompey as their 2nd team, as they are the local team.

We recently went to Gun Wharf (early May) to take my parents up the Spinnaker Tower. The football shirts seen that day were Man Utd x 1, Chelsea x 1, Bournemouth x 1 and Southampton x 1 (and it was that awful pink effort FFS !!).

Nigerian soccer site claiming Tall Paul deal ‘stalled’
at 12:59 27 Jun 2025

As I said in my previous post, the fact that he didn't play for us last time we were in the Champ, suggests he has a clause in his contract, so we either have to loan him out or sell.

Probably best to get some money for him now, rather than run his contract down with loans, like we have done in the past with so many other players and get no transfer fee, yet still have to pay them a loyalty bonus for seeing out their contracts.

Don't forget some of these superstar players we have on our books, think they are above playing in the Championship and have clauses in their contracts so that they can loan or transfer out, should we get relegated.

As Tall Paul didn't play for us in the Champ last time around, I guess he has such a clause in his contract.

Assuming he departure is imminent, our current striking options are

Armstrong
Archer
BBD
Stewart
Sulemana - if he doesn't go to Italy
Fernandes
Dibling
Ballard

I'm sure that list will change over the next couple of months, but it's not too bad for the Championship as it stands.
