We never have a fully fleshed out squad by this point of pre-season -- it's literally a fitness tour. I agree I looked at that squad list and grumbled, and wasn't massively surprised when it got annihliated on Saturday. But even then it was full of youth players (some out of position - i.e. Bennie at right back) and really poor individual mistakes. I think to suggest that we're certainly going down is pretty harsh though.
That said I really don't want to sit through another pasting on Friday, so I'd rather we started playing a more recogniseable 1st team instead of 2 teams for 45 each, but then thats just me
I was having a think about this the other day, originally looking at next year's championship I was quite worried at how competitive it is, but am now thinking it's just another divided division of good teams with money (recently relegated, brum, Wrexham) and the usual dirge at the bottom. Not envious of your job to predict where this QPR team will finish in that...
I agree mate, truthfully I hope that rumour stays a rumour. I may be giving the club too much credit, but maybe the thinking is along the lines of: he's too small (clearly not a massive issue, see our army of midget 10s), there are too many players ahead of him in his position (really?), and then I guess age. As you say, doesn't seem like anything a loan or two can't solve. I think the rubric that CN's introduced regarding dev squad is pretty blunt, it just remains to be seen whether it works or not, I guess we'll know in a couple of years.
Seems to me, if brutal, that he's another player into his 20s not really pushing for a first team place, as good as he is. It follows Nourry's trend with dev squad that if you're not pushing 1st team by early 20s then unfortunately you're not going to make it here. I reckon he'll still have a good career in lower leagues (like Arkell Jude-Boyd).
I mean the game I was at was certainly endearing, from 3-0 down due to some rather interesting defending to 3-3 with about 10 to go, they could/should have won it too. Cracking stadium aswell.
This is one of the most terrifying things about fans on Twitter: I'm seeing way too many eager for this rat to come back, forgetting (deliberately or not) how he treated us. More recently, he seemed to try his absolute best to c*ck up at Sunderland while demonstrating himself to be as insecure as he is embarrassing with his twitter burner account farce.
The interview this guy gave about how much he loved being at QPR is complete rubbish too, it seems he has now in fact remembered that he did actually work in London at one point.
Simply can't be trusted, and is he even that good a coach?
Again, today, especially in that first half, you can certainly see his value going forward -- some delightful passes in behind. He's clearly technically gifted
Cardiff were dross and we could only hold them to a draw, they looked like a team of individual players there for the taking.
We drew after putting in the minimal effort we could have, players like Paal and Colback would be fine one minute, and then completely checked out the other, leading to us constantly giving the ball away.
Someone's gonna have to explain that Varane performance to me, because he's our player for however long and he looked more checked out than anyone else.
Morrison fine for the most part, Edwards v good I thought, we're seriously gonna miss him when he goes back.
My major concern is that after this draw that we 'worked hard for' we'll now sack off the away game against Oxford and forfeit another 3 pts to a relegation rival, as that's currently the pattern (Middlesbrough (A), Leeds (H), Stoke (A), Cardiff (H)
I'm really resisting the complete write-off of Celar. He looked poor until the game vs Cardiff, and then afterwards seemed a different player, injury was really unfortunately timed. Massive confidence thing. Swiss league to Champ is a tough move to adapt to, and I'd like to see him given another season before we discard him as a player 'that can't step up to the Champ'.
