They said upto 50 will be the number not 50 a week but where’s the detail, who is going to process them in France. If it is the French how diligent will they be or will it be a tickbox exercise. And if for whatever reason we send one back he’ll be on the next boat across. It was mentioned about taking DNA samples to identify these people and to stop that happening, I can hear the lefty lawyers rubbing their hands together on that one, civil liberties don’t you know. Ruwanda never happened mainly because of the courts, lawyers and lefty politicians even though Irish politicians stated an increase of migrants were moving into Ireland at that time because the word had got out. As a country we’re finished or pretty close to it |

I always look at the April fixtures first and whether we’re going for top six or keeping out of bottom three they look difficult. |

They are a strange lot. Went on their website recently and it’s absolutely hilarious the rubbish some of them are coming out with. One said they ‘demand they get promoted at the first attempt’, one reply was ‘it’s not going to be easy as it’s the cup final for all the other teams in the league playing against a massive club. Another was warning the supporters to be careful as these smaller clubs hoolies will want to claim a victory against a big club. They’ve also heard that a billionaire is interested in buying either Millwall or Southampton and they couldn’t understand why he wasn’t interested in them considering they were bigger them both of those clubs. There’s so many others but it’s impossible to remember them all. |

What a weird and embarrassing performance on the sidelines by Jones. Absolutely bizarre behaviour. How can he view the game and his teams performance when he acts like a Sunday league manager by constantly waving his arms around and all that stuff from him at the end when he knew the camera was on him, extremely weird. I didn’t mention the word tactics either as he only had one and that was to welly it as far as they could, obviously a disciple of the Warnock school of hoofball |

As soon as I saw the words ‘baller’ and ‘influencer’ in the article that was me done. It’s six aside. Everyone who’s kicked a football has played small sided games at some point but I suppose it must be of interest to some otherwise the organisers wouldn’t do it to lose money. |

We booked onto a walking tour and one of the places we went into was the old Jewish area located in the city centre, really interesting. Lots of walking while we were there made worthwhile finding lovely bars and restaurants found down narrow little side streets. We’re into history so it did for us, sounds like we work for Seville tourist board!! |

What the Seville game? We left just before the end as we didn’t know where our bus stop was so wanted to beat the crowds out and ended up missing the Cadiz goal. Good atmosphere, no problems with away supporters sat near us, same as in a couple of bars nearby. Great to watch Ramos as well, what a player. |

Went to watch my La Liga team Seville get beaten 3v1 at Camp Nou. Really good game, Messi scored a free kick from the wrong side for a left footer, peach of a strike. Barca’s forward line that night was Messi, Neymar and Suarez!! Agree it’s a really nice city, well worth a visit. Went to Seville to see them play Cadiz, lost 1v0. Seville is a really nice city too with lots of history and we found the locals really decent people, well worth a visit. Will try to see them at the Bernabeu next season if they stay up. Just come back from Rome, what a city, amazing, it’s like living in a museum. Hopefully will go back next year and use the opportunity to watch Roma or Lazio play [Post edited 8 May 21:18]

Disagree about Grimes, he was needed especially in the first and last twenty minutes to take the sting out of the game by his ability to retain possession something we struggled badly with though Naughton did a decent job trying to do that. It was a really good win but in my opinion LW needs to work on how we now get the game to flow consistently from defence through the thirds which didn’t happen anywhere enough otherwise our game reverts to having possession, losing possession and repeat. |

That’s similar to my earlier post. The wide players have to take on more responsibility and not rely on the full backs to be running past them unless it is obviously on to do so, that’s intelligence or game management, and good coaching call it what you will. I think LW has to more pragmatic in how he sets the team up as we need to break this losing cycle. When you’re winning a few and drawing a few and sitting comfortably mid table then continuing with your playing philosophy is ok but when over the last month or so has shown they’re not working LW and his coaches have to step out of their philosophy comfort zone and show they can deliver tactics to get the points and it doesn’t matter if it’s pretty or not, do they have it in them. Even Pep is adapting his tactics because of their current run of results, who would of thought we’d see them knocking it long to Harland and to play off him and ok it’s not exactly Warnock but even the best can’t rely on sticking to the same and hoping it all comes good in the end. Interestingly Russell Martin didn’t change his tactics at Southampton even when it was obvious it wasn’t working and look what’s happened to them and him. I hope LW shows us his tactical abilities this weekend and shuts the likes of me up!! [Post edited 6 Feb 16:19]

We play that way every week and get beaten and if you look at the goals we concede we’re all over the place defensively. I watched Fulham play a while back and the discipline they showed without the ball was really good to watch,as soon as they lost possession they quickly dropped into a 4-5-1 closing the space to be played through, good coaching from a good manager. |

If you can see the obvious trajectory of the club and the obvious limitations of the manager and your not happy with it all then you have to look at what other options are available and if it increases your salary as well then happy days, I don’t blame him for going and especially since it sounds like Coleman didn’t give him the assurances that things were going to change so why put up with it. Also of course is the hatred written about him, who would want to read that, what would he be thinking when he pulled the shirt on a match day. I hope he does really well at Coventry [Post edited 5 Feb 8:45]

From what I can see from the last five years only one team has gone down with more points then us after 30 games, Hull on 39. Don’t know if Hull had points deducted but only got 6 more points and went down on 45, that’s a massive warning for us. [Post edited 4 Feb 21:18]

LW has to break the awful run we’re on so he has to set the team up not to lose first. He has to play 4-5-1 or an alternative to this and always be compact without the ball, never get caught on the break which would be criminal if LW sets the team up right. Get the full backs to play as such not as wingbacks, not Key as an inverted wingback ( he’s not Kyle Walker). Play on the break without overcommitting players forward, which they should be practicing this week so they all know their roles in this. Stay in the game as long as we can which might give us opportunities late on. Start VIP up front and let’s see if he’s got the attitude and desire to play the lone striker role. That’s what I would do anyway but I’m not the one being paid the big bucks. I do worry about LW tactical knowledge at championship level. |
 | Forum Reply | How many points will we need to stay up? at 21:57 3 Feb 2025
The last ten years the average has been 44 points. The highest has been 51 points in 2017 and last season Brum on 50. So if you go higher at 55 points Plymouth need 30 points, Luton and Derby 28 and us on 21. It’s up to us really, wouldn’t it be great though if LW had a plan to get us there. |

I doubt a manager would go to any club for a one or two year contract. If he’s really wanted he’d expect a three year contract as minimum. Of course I haven’t included Alladyce or Warnock who in the past have been airlifted in during a mid season panic by a desperate club at the base of the league. |

LW will have to set the team and tactics up differently if he plays Franco as a holding midfielder as while he has many good attributes he doesn’t have the same technical ability of MG. Hopefully it will allow LW and his coaching team to show us their tactical and coaching abilities. |
