He played as striker vs Norwich and scored two goals. |

Wilkins - the only person on that list that plays as a striker (which is and has been Kolli’s position) is Frey. So I dont know why you keep asking if he’s ahead of Chair and Smyth. It’s completely irrelevant. He’s better than Celar, has several attributes better than Frey, he’s better in games where we want to dominate that Lloyd and I have no idea about Kelman yet |

Wouldn't put him ahead of Celar??? Really?? Based on what evidence?? It certainly can't be goals or assists. Or hold up play. Or touch. Or finishing. Or desire. Wilkins, sorry, but you've just got no idea mate. You're probably one of the lot on here who thought Eze was a lazy ineffective luxury player (of which there were many) If he gets the games then this season will conclusively prove you're wrong about Kolli. I'll be glad to come back to this thread and we can see who called this right. |

Exactly, and Kelman is now 23 years old. How good was he 3 years ago? Not very. You've perfectly made my point really. [Post edited 2 Jul 12:53]

We have to remember he's just 20 years old. He's still learning about hold up play and making it stick. But I think he has got the physical attributes and the determination to make that a really big part of his game. He will improve, the signs are there in the way he battles and buffets. So yeah, he had some games where he got bullied. But so did Lyndon Dykes (and that was meant to be his game). It's not easy when your team is static and sitting deep and you have zero effective runners around you. I think Kolli did a very good job as a loan striker in numerous other games at home. So it may not be his best attribute but I think it can get up to a level that will allow his other top top attributes to shine as a lone striker - namely touch, vision, strike. Celar on the other hand has none of the grit or determination or strength to ever be an effective loan striker in this league imo. I'd be amazed if he can find it. I hope he can. Sure Alife Lloyd probably ploughs a loan farrow better but he has a horrible first touch and ultimately isn't top level. Ok at 5'10 Kolli is not tall, I called that wrong, but first touch is key up front and Kolli has it. If the only loan striker you feel is strong enough is someone of Frey's attributes then we're going to ultimately remain a very limited team. |

Tried to dm you on here but it didn't seem to get through. It was all my own stupidity anyway. Besides it's been cathartic to watch other people argue with an AI Christian Nourry. |

Well you can say he's a left sided attacker but he doesn't actually have to be. It's not on his birth certificate. He's played (and played at his best) up front for us several times. As I say his back to goal game is good. It's wasted out wide. |
 | Forum Reply | Kolli at 13:50 1 Jul 2025
Yeah but if you have 7/10 in all those departments then it can make you an all round striker. Of the four you mentioned only Frey is up front. And I like Frey, v happy we've got him, be has many other extreme deficiencies that Kolli does not. , Kolli has a lot more about him than Celar. He's better than Lloyd. Who knows if he's better than Kelman... we'll see. He's also very young so there is plenty of time for his skills to increase or excel. Not sure how many goals and assists a 20 year old in his break out season needs to provide for you to be 'convinced' Wilkins - but I think we'll be waiting a very long tome for one to come along. Re a loan. Yeah ok - do it - but mark my words, by crimbo he'll have scored a hatful and we'll be calling back. For me he's got the xfator and fire to succeed. |

Ah ok I see, I'd missed that his injuries spanned two seasons and were recurring issues. And never really paid proper attention to his defensive work - but he looked to press the backline with pace and aggression to me Tbh the more I listen to Gallen the more I'm glad this club has more qualified people in the room, not just Ollie's old boys. Sorry I know he's a club legend. So for you is Kolli a 10 or a striker? I personally think his physicality and back to goal game would be wasted at 10. Btw (not that you or anyone else would've noticed or cared) but I couldn't log into the site for over two years - denying the world my searing insight. But I've just changed web browser and it's all sorted. Makes me feel extra dim. In the meantime have been reading the board and listening to Patreon - still really appreciate the quality content, thank you. |

While I agree with this - I don't believe it's a factor in why Dave Mc and Gallen say they don't rate him. Does anyone have an idea where the doubts about Kolli come from? Is it secretly his injury record, is it the ungainly gait that you've referred to Clive? All reminds of a player - ah yeah Jordan Henderson - Alex Ferguson once revealed he didn't sign Henderson because of his peculiar gait. He said he regretted it. |

Seeing a fair few negative assessments of him over this close season (Gallen & Dave Mc + several posters on here) saying he's either not good enough or should go on loan to L1. I'm totally perplexed by it. The guy is a rare gem. For me, the reason he's special is his back to goal game. It's something you don't get very often in a young player. Not only does he have a powerful strike, good feet and composure - he is also strong and relishes the battle and hold up stuff. He's also tall and good in the air. So yeah - he's not a 10, he's not a winger (not quick enough) - he's a striker. His stats speak for themselves, when he plays, one game in every two he tended to make something happen with an assist or goal. Stats aside, even just with the naked eye, you can just see he has what it takes. Best youth prospect at this club since Eze IMO. I don't get why people are down on him. He's just 20 years old and straight out of our youth team! [Post edited 1 Jul 10:24]

I agree. And I feel the issue goes back as far as Warburton. I really rated Warbs as a manager and would never have sacked him but we were actually extremely unambitious in the attacking areas even when we purring as a team and utterly dominating possession. You'd basically have to wait for the 65th minute for Lee Wallace to overlap Chair and suddenly we'd make a chance. We very rarely won by more than 1 goal. And Reading was the only time I truly saw us stuff someone. It was always very very tight. We need to know how to let the handbrake off in the final third - especially at home. We need far more overlaps and far more bodies in the box. Has to happen. 1 win is worth 3 draws. If we're going to get out of this mess we need to go for it properly at Loftus Road [Post edited 8 Nov 2023 9:20]

Kakay in the middle of midfield. Yeah... apart from his touch, passing and positional awareness he's perfectly suited to adapting to that role (having never ever played there before may I add) I've heard some laughable ideas before but that really takes the biscuit. I do wonder what people are watching sometimes. |
 | Forum Thread | Johansen the silent kiss of midfield death at 09:08 10 Apr 2023
Among the many bad things I saw vs Preston for me Stefan Johansen has become possibly the biggest problem. He doesn’t just do nothing he actively throws other players into the s**t. Weak and hesitant on the ball he waits and waits until it’s totally blatant what he’s going to do and then releases a slow 4 yard backward pass to a defender on his heels. It’s criminal. He’s also clearly shot physically, so slow and underpowered - lightweight. Creates zilch. Such a shame as I LOVED the player I saw in loan but ever since he’s been permanent he’s been absolutely diabolical. So so so poor. He absolutely must not play - how he gets on ahead of Amos I’ll never know. At least Amos can run and pass. |

Sacking Warburton. In that power struggle with Les the owners should have clocked that Warbs had actually done something in the game as coach and manger and his opinion should be valued over Les - who seems to wear nice suits, employ his mates and make terrible decisions. Under Warbs, we were building. We were professional, we were well run. |

I hate say this and I know I’ll get slated for numerous good reasons but I actually think we need to get relegated and start again. It’s like death by a thousand cuts right now. The club needs to reset and finds its soul as team of upstarts punching above its weight. We’re better that way - as fan base and and as a squad |

I find it odd we haven’t reverted back to the back three long ago. I’m not a fan but it’s the only formation that makes Dickie and viable centre back at this level. We need to stop conceding. When we were sliding away Warbs switched to a three and it turned the tide. Otherwise we are 100% going down |

Ah, it's the 'globalists' fault. I should have known. This very much a joke btw. I assume you meant 'due'? |

Riiiight. How anyone can argue were weren't a well drilled team going in the right direction under Warbs I'll never know. Just LOOK at us now ffs! We were better under him than we'd ever been in a very long time. We used do things like win away... not that long ago, that idea was fantasy. Yes we fell away but we were overachieving, massively. You only have to look at us now to see that. He deserved so much more respect and credit. I wish Ainsworth all the best and I really really hope he succeeds, love the man - but Warbs was badly treated and wrongly let go. The two points are not connected anyway. You can think it was wrong to sack Warbs and still support Gareth. |
