Adel wasn't anywhere near Wilkins level. Never did it in the top league and was completely unprofessional, plus he was utterly indulged while here. Not bothered about who players play for previously. I assume you don't particularly want JCS or Vale at the club then?! |

I'm gonna say it quietly, but I'd actually argue he was our greatest player ever. Wilkins, not Madsen! He didn't have moments in a game, like say a Bowles, he was the game. He controlled it. Quite simply the greatest ever Ranger. I'll never forget we played Man Utd at home, I think we lost 3-2 in 94/95. They had Giggs, Cantona etc. Wilkins was on a different level to everyone on the pitch, even at 35yo. Regarding Madsen. I like a player that actually 'play' football so it is nice to see someone that can actually pass the bloody ball. I do think you need a couple of enforcers around him, which is why I think he played well in the 10 role at the end of last season. We are not blessed with other passers in the CM area though, so I'd say he is probably one of the 1st names on the team sheet at the moment and Field has now been benched. |

Yeah, or a Simon Barker type. For those saying Varane, not a chance as he isn't technically good enough. Unfortunately we don't have either a really good 8 or 6 at the club yet. Morgan might be able to do it, but does he have the stamina yet? |
 | Forum Reply | Liam Morrison agrees new deal at 16:07 2 Sep 2025
I like Morrison. Only 22 and playing regularly as a CB in the Championship is pretty good, though he needs those 50 games under his belt ASAP. I thought Saturday he dealt pretty well in the end with their very physical striker. I do think we are in danger of forgetting how young some of our players are. Kolli and Morgan are only 19, but they already feel like they have been playing for a while. I see Walsh has switched off his social media, apparently. Nice lot on Twitter, etc. [Post edited 2 Sep 17:55]

This isn't a new story, it was known about at least 15 years ago. My sons footie club installed it back in 2009 and it was discussed, but as there was no scientific evidence against it it was installed. Obviously a slow news day at the Mail. |

Very, very impressed. Both late goals against Charlton were due to him either breaking the play up or (shock) moving the ball forward quickly. Fully expect him to be 1st choice by Easter, playing all next season and then sold. Lots to learn, but he's got a great chance, which will be helped by Norrington coming in. |

100%. Chair offers a bit more physicality as well. |

That would be interesting seeing how they have Varane as the big next sale. An 8 he is not. |

Well they bid £5/6m apparently for Edwards. |

This is where the 'game model' doesn't align with the players that the club currently has. There is nothing wrong with a club wanting to play through the midfield; I think most of us on here were brought up with the great 'footballing' Rangers sides of the 70/80/90s. I'm in full support of it. However, where it is falling down is sending a manager out without the personnel to implement the preferred style. To do it, the club needs a ball playing CB & CM. We currently have neither. Mbengue and Madsen try to do it, but the quality is not there. CN can either go out and get the players, and we'll be in the top half or not, and it's 16th at best again. The fact that we bid a sizeable chunk on Edwards suggests the club is prepared to spend. It'll give a big indication of the clubs ambition, or lack of it, if they sign anyone tomorrow. |

In fairness, it's only the 2nd season, not 3rd, that the 'game model' has been in place. We need 2 x CM, one minimum before the deadline, or else it's gonna be a long old season. We need someone who can put their foot on the ball and play it forward. How fcking hard can it be! |

100%. There was a moment in the 1st half when we had 3 on 1 and Varane only had to play to Vales feet and take the return on the halfway line. He played it 20 yards in front and Vale was never going to win a foot race. Brain dead from Varane. We have players who want the ball, the CM just need to get it to them. |

Solid, comfortable and boring. Exactly what you want in a loan signing. Worked well with Esquadinha coming on for the last 20 to inject some pace. Didn't he win the ball for Saito to start his run? And didn't he put the ball up to Burrell to flick onto Kone? |

I think that one has been put to bed. Though I did fear the worst when Kelman came on at 1-1. Come on, you all did! |

Not including the subs, I thought Morrison. Didn't put a foot wrong all game and had a real tussle with Leaburn which he eventually won. |
