No. The problem is the hypocrisy of Liverpool fans on the one hand bellyaching about the establishment seemingly ignoring poverty in Liverpool but on the other, are perfectly happy for their club to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on fancy pants players who drive around in supercars.
You couldn’t possibly get more hypocritical. |

What rank hypocrisy booing the national anthem because it represents the establishment which is out of touch with real people in poverty.
This from a club that it is quite happy to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on overpriced show ponies that could be spent alleviating poverty in the city.

This from a club perfectly happy to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on overpriced show pony players. That’s hundred of millions of pounds that could be spent on alleviating poverty in the city.

Glastonbury is a bit like the Prem in some ways. It used to be harder edged, you could do virtually do what you liked and everyone was equal. Nowadays it’s tightly controlled and it’s become a corporate love in e.g. there’s that fenced off bit in front of the stage for corporates. A bit like the ‘soccer fan experience’ or ‘customer experience’ the Prem wants to promote.
My first Glastonbury was 1980 I think so you can see where I’m coming from. New Order and Aswad were good. Gong were absolute sh*te. |

1. There’s no band. Which means she’s singing to backing tracks. That’s not live music.
2. What the fu*ck does she think she looks like. PVC pants and top doesn’t work. If your music is good enough you don’t need to take your kit off.

Going to have to disagree with you here. Fans that give there all over 90 minutes shouting and screaming the team on and trying to intimidate the opposing fans and teams are better supporters than premier league customers who sit in silence with their bobble hats and overly wide scarves.

Fans get the club they deserve. Our fans are largely (60%’ish?) middle class, mediocre, passive consumers of premier league football. As such we get passive, mediocre ownership and a passive mediocre team. It’s like the customers (fans) aren’t fussed about our performances and therefore neither is the club (otherwise you’d see a radical reaction to our hopeless season). If the fans stormed the barricades the owners might sit up and take notice but the apathetic nature of our fans means that the club don’t have to. They get away with mediocrity. No one is held to account.
We get the club we deserve. |

Yes but you know as well as I do that some clubs have a particular culture around them which other clubs don’t e.g. millwall (thet don’t put up with any sh*t), Leeds (bordering on fanatical), Crystal Palace (ultras), etc etc.

You get the club you deserve in life and they are good example of why a large proportion of Saints fans are as they are i.e. utter gimps. I’d rather have 30,000 empty seats and 2,000 fanatics willing to die for the club. |

5.00 am up to get the 7.05 flight from Jersey to Gatwick
10.15 joined queue to pick up my ticket
11.30 shoved an egg sandwich down my gob and then went to JJMoons which was packed. Drank lots of beer
1.30 had a walk around the stadium to soak up the atmosphere. Lots of shouty Leeds fans but they were OK
2.00 in ground and had 2 double gin and tonics
3.00 shouted myself stupid
6’ish joined tube queue- lots of not shouty Leeds fans ha ha
7’ish back to Victoria. Had something to eat and drank more beer
9.30 back at Gatwick for a nightcap and then to the Yotel
Monday - up at 5.00 to get the 7.10 flight back to Jersey
Absolutely f*ucked and £450 down for a day out but worth every penny |

I agree with number 1 and it would be my only criticism of the day. A significant number of Saints fans are a reserved lot and it’s just the reality. Not even me screaming maniacally “you’re not watching a f*ucking film” at them got them roused.
Anyway it was a very special day that will live long in the memory. |

A couple of obscure observations from yesterday:
1. We really managed the end of the game well. For the last 15 mins Leeds had nearly all the possession but we defended well and when we had the ball we played it to the corners a denied them even more possession.
2. Our flags worked better than their scarves. |
