What is more remarkable is that after the war he led the movement to get an official apology from Japan and yet held no hatred towards them. He was Mayor of Witney, the town from where he was born. Remarkable story, remarkable man.
As someone who has met him on numerous occasions in my previous profession, usually at his home, I can say categorically, what you see on screen is what you get. A very down to earth man with a wicked sense of humour.
