It is NOT too early in the pre-season. We are so lightweight it is unbelievable. Our entire squad is made up on Championship and League One standard players. McCarthy, Bednarek and Stephens got binned off last time we were in the PL. Armstrong could not cut it. signing players from Peterborough and Swansea ain’t going to keep us up. Lallana is ancient, our weak midfield 3 features Smallbone, Downes and Aribo, and last night we only managed ONE shot on target v Oxford. We are doomed unless our squad is significantly strengthened asap. New keeper, better CB, better midfielder, better winger than Edozie or Sulemana. Shockingly bad transfer window so far for Saints. |

We still look very weak defensively. McCarthy, our number 1 GK, all over the place. Montpellier hit the woodwork 3 or 4 times. That was with our top choice midfield 3 starting. Sulemana penalty was terrible for a pub team player. We are ping to get smashed in the PL. |

No. The big question is- when are we going to sign two decent midfielders, a keeper, and a centre forward? Nevermind ‘6 signings so far’- one from Swansea, one from Peterborough, one from relegated Burnley, one a 36 year old winger, plus McCarthy and THB. I have never been so infuriated watching Saints this season. Our tactics are awful, 65-70% possession and no shot on target- what is the point of this? When you play a competitive sport, you play to WIN. Last night was another complete embarrassment for our entire city on live TV. I am not buying another ticket until we change the way we play. Had enough now. I don't care whether we are 4th, 12th or 20th, but we always give every game a good go. That is the Southampton Way, not this current garbage. |

Have you seen us play this season? We are sh1te. Have you seen how SR have destroyed our squad, pocketed a massive net profit, and left us with nothing all over the pitch? Or how SR prised Martin away from Swansea? A manager with no previous success? Our tactics are utterly pathetic. SR and Wilcox have destroyed any chance we had of promotion.
I’m tolerant and all for giving anyone a chance, like most Saints fans. What I don’t accept though, is our club being ruined. Again. I’m not going to happy clap that, ever. Get the right manager and players in. Or we’re doomed to obscurity. |

It's been a terrible season from start to finish. Retirement Ralph, Jones, and Selles have all contributed to our abysmal predicament and with Martin having had two seasons with MK Dons and two with Swansea, this seems in line with SR appointments. Cheap, and unproven at top level.
Selles will, thankfully, not be with us next season. He has never managed an adult football team before Saints in the PL. I still cannot believe he was even considered, let alone given the top job, with 16 games still to play. The way we have played since the World Cup reflects a rudderless club with nothing to cheer for. 25 defeats in 37 games FFS. Also look how we played v Grimsby, Blackpool, Sheff Weds, Lincoln, and all the teams in the bottom half of the PL. We are absolutely garbage. |

The squad is better than it’s league position? Seriously, we are utterly rubbish. Bottom of the league because we have one of the weakest, most inept and toothless squads to represent our great city. We have lost to most of our nearest rivals, lost to Grimsby, barely beat Blackpool, Lincoln, and Sheff Weds, conceded loads of goals, struggle to score, look bereft of creativity, regularly leave opponents unmarked in our own 6 yard box, have a ‘Captain’ that loves playing sideways and backwards, and no matter what XI starts, we look like a League One team. We have no heroes- not a single, reasonably consistent, exciting player you’d pay to watch. We deserve to be relegated after flirting with it for years and not improving the squad. |
